Quick Take: good value, sensual lasting
Perhaps you bought Shalimar "One Note" I made that mistake and you are right, it does not give the same "essence" of original Shalimar. Please try again and make sure it is just "Shalimar" (which I have worn since the age of 18 and am now 64}.

Quick Take: reusable, good value, travel-friendly, classic
If it were possible to include fragrance in the pages of my autobiography it would be an easy decision to choose Shalimar. I have been blessed with a life filled with love and the Romance continues along with my waning years. My husbands have all spoiled me and all of them loved my Shalimar perfume. I never wear too much....it lasts a long time. I will be wearing it for our 30th anniversary this fall. Maybe it reminds him of the years he lived in India. I love flowers, but not on me. This perfume has the right balance of bergamot, citrus and vanilla that I love. I have been lucky in love and Shalimar helps me to remember that!

Who doesn't have a mom or grandma that loves this stuff? I gave this as a gift to the most elegant and regal mom/grandma that I know because she embodies this scent. She loved it!

Dsappointed in Shalimar

I bought a bottle of the perfume just before Christmas as a gift. The recipient and I were very disappointed with the fragrance. It has been changed and no longer has the vanilla aroma. I will never purchase Shalimar again. So sorry for the change. I have purchased Shalimar annually for over 30 years. Why ruin an excellent product?

Quick Take: reminds me of an earlier time, the bottle is beautiful
Shalimar was my mother's favorite cologne. I've never worn it before - I'm mostly interested in fresh, clean scents. Purchased the small bottle to check out how I feel in it. Although it's not my favorite; a bit strong, not enough of a powdery scent, and not enough vanilla for my liking, but it's a classic and I feel elegant when I wear it. I use it in the evenings. Probably won't buy again, but it is a nice change, especially in the winter.

A real man-pleaser!

No matter how many perfumes I try and love, I keep going back to Shalimar. Why? Because every time I wear it some man makes the comment, "I smell cookies! Where are they?" and I know it's the Shalimar. Perfumes rarely smell the same throughout the day as they do when you put them on, so you have to go by the residue. Those after notes are the REAL perfume you are wearing. If a way to a man's heart is through his stomach than this is the next best thing. Probably one reason this perfume remains a classic..

Timeless Sensual Classic.

Quick Take: feminine, classic, timeless, sensual
Shalimar is my HG fragrance. On me it starts off like really powdery floral and then it melts into a gorgeous, spicy vanilla with a hint of citrus. Shalimar is very feminine, but with a sharp edge. It's sexy but still elegant and sophisticated. My fiance loves it. I am 24 years old and I don't think Shalimar is an "old lady" scent that doesn't suit younger women. It's a timeless classic. I like the new bottle, it's a modern take on the antique and I think it's very sleek looking.

This is a keeper! As with other reviewers, I didn't like it at all when I first smelled it, but mellows into a heavy hit of vanilla and many sublte spices. It is a provacative, soft fragrance. No wonder it has lasted so long and been so popular. I have a new favorite.

Give Shalimar a chance

Shalimar is one of the most classic perfumes you could won. Now, I almost didn't give this perfume a chance, because when I prayed it onto the papers supplied at Sephora-honestly Shalimar smelled like a citranella candle. I sprayed it on my skin as well, and it was a totally different fragrance. Soft yet assertive, feminine and sexy, it was the perfect blend if you are trying to capture someone's attention. Shalimar smells like a powdery vanilla, but there's something else I can't put my finger on. And this perfume lasts and lasts. I can easily go 8 hours without having to spray it on again.

I love this stuff. My mother got some of this as a gift when I was a kid and while she never wore it, I loved the way it smelled.
It definitely does not have a floral scent, and actually reminds me a bit of baby powder. It's a classic, but I think this style of perfume isn't as common anymore, so if you're expecting something light and floral, that's not what you're going to get.

Quick Take: old smelling
This was the first perfume I ever tried, because my grandmother used it. I smelled it again just recently and, well, it smells like my grandmother, it smelled stale. Not for young women.
