Liked decanted samples more, but a keeper

I have to say that the couple of decanted samples I scammed from SAs had me addicted before I had a full size bottle of my own.
I just turned 50 and consider myself a fairly masculine, classy suburban guy, but Vetiver is almost too mature for me yet.
Still, it's unique enough to keep a bottle around, though it won't be my regular. My wife, btw, doesn't care for it, and reviews that describe its 18th century apothecary medicinal flavor aren't far off fyi.
Longevity is short (winter time, so I don't know if it gets better in the summer), but haven't really found anything else close enough to this classic to do the job. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver is a close second, though not quite as natural smelling to me; a little more modern, but ok too.
If Guerlain Vetiver is good enough for Paul McCartney and Harrison Ford, I guess it's good enough for me; just not every day.

Quick Take: the best fragrance in the world
I am a female. The smell of Guerlain Vetiver is like no other in the world. It is hypnotizing, mesmerizing, takes me away to another place. I love it so much that I keep a bottle around and wear it myself on many days, spray it in the air, etc. When it dries down, it leaves an intoxicating but soft scent. Drives me wild.

This scent is amazing, vetiver, tobacco, lemon, leather and tonka bean. 9/10. A Refreshing smell which is classic with a hint of modernity.

My favorite go to scent.I wear it as my casual scent but easillycan be worn with a suit.If you have tried other vetiver fragrances this is NOT like any other out there.It fresh,earthy,clean,and sexy all at the same time .Not easy to find so you won't smell like every one else try it you won't be sorry.

Quick Take: amazingly natural and earthy
My husband and I sprayed and sniffed for almost an hour in the Sephora store looking for a naturally earthy smell. Compared to this, all the other mens fragrances were mostly sporty and reminded me of Axe body spray. This is the standout! If you like natural and earthy smells that are nothing resembling synthetic, then this is the one for you (or your man, depending on who is reading this).

Quick Take: fresh, worth the price, people will definitely approach you
This scent is amazing (I'm a woman and I wear it). It's just a nice basic, fresh, clean cologne (herbal and lemony) with a bit of a rich base. Everywhere I go people always stop me and ask me what perfume I'm wearing and say they lovie it!
They make me write the name down so they can buy it too! I always have this around in my collection. You get a huge bottle for the price. It is high-quality, great stuff. The best Vetiver scent ever, nothing else compares.

Vetiver is recommended for those with a more sophisticated taste in perfume. It works great for all kinds of occasions such as work, casual wear, summer, and formal events. This can also pass as a unisex scent.
Starts off with a sharp beginning. The top notes are a combination of an herbal mixture that includes the vetiver with citrus notes like neroli, orange, and lemon. It also has a slightly soapy scent. The notes then fade to an earthy and tobacco finish. It is earthy and clean at the same time.
It is a fragrance made with the highest qualities although it may not be everyone's cup of tea. I find that it lasts a long time (12+ hours). More than one occasion I have worn this and showered and could still smell it on me the next day.

My husband tested out this fragrance and it smells very interesting, in a good way. There was a spiciness to it that was very appealing, and it lasted a long time. It smelled differently on him that most other fragrances. It's hard to describe, because I couldn't recognize the specific note that seemed to be the strongest. It's a good scent and it changed as it faded out.
I rarely recommend fragrances because everyone's body chemisty is different. However, I recommend that men try this one, but it's really interesting, it doesn't overpower, it lasts a reasonable amount of time, and it's good.

Quick Take: unusual
This is really..... unusual on a woman. Smoky and deep. It confuses people as does many Guerlain fragrances. I also like Mitsouko, Habit Rouge, and Jardins de Bagatelle.

This is a beautiful scent, not a pretty scent. Some may see it as rough or abrasive. It opens like a slap in the face, and dries down a beautiful woody/grassy base. Lasts well. Perfect for any occasion or season, can't miss with this classic.

Quick Take: woody, natural
I bought this for my dad, after much thought and testing. He is an outdoorsman. He doesn't wear fragrance much; only on special occasions. He'll keep a bottle for years. He loves camping, fishing, hiking, rafting, boating... He doesn't like to smell like a department store. This is perfect for him. It smells like a walk in the woods with just a hint of lemon at the top. Very clean and manly. I chose it over Terre d'Hermes.
