TIRES: The Fragrance

Quick Take: rubbery, burnt
Bold, unexpected, and creative? Definitely. Good? Not so much.
The chrome and black rubber bottle is neat, but apparently I should have taken the hint, because this stuff smells like nothing so much as tires. If you want that unique funk of new tires and old grease that you normally only get in the lobby of a cheap mechanic, this is your fragrance.
There's a little bit of vanilla and some wood trying to happen here, but the rubber is too busy doing burnouts on top of them for anything else to come through.

Quick Take: mello and approachable
Purchased as a Christmas gift for a male relative. Love that it doesn't overpower others nearby like most scents. A very mello, comfortable scent.

my favorite of the bvlgari tea scents. I can't believe I didn't know about this sultry stunner. Thanks to Katie for plugging this and tempting me to try it. I hope the shower gel is sold again at some point. I do wish it lasted a little longer, but smells so great I'm okay with spritzing more!

Quick Take: unique
I adore natural essential oil scents of cedar, lilac, lavender; but of the numerous beauty brands' perfumes & scents, this is my all-time favorite. earthy yet exotic and definitely hard to place "whatever that it, it smells amazing!". very, very sexy so use sparingly!
I'm giving it 5 stars, but here are some considerations: the bottle looks somewhat like a hockey puck; I've had problems with the sprayer a bit hard to reach due to the placement right in the middle of the bottle; as a toilette spray, it doesn't last as long on the skin as I like especially since it's based on black tea, which I imagine doesn't naturally have a lot of oil in it!

Folks, this fragrance smells like TIRES. Uh, wait, not tires as in a stack of new Michelins. No siree, Bob. It smells like a tire that has burnt rubber on asphalt as it peels out. Nothing quite says "sexy" like that odor on my neck.
Reviews mention the exquisite vanilla in the dry down. Huh? I've worn this bizarre perfume for over an hour and there ain't no vanilla. If vanilla eventually surfaces, Black has made us endure tire fumes for too long. Revolting. Mysteriously revolting.

Quick Take: sexy, amazing, perfect
I was at a Sephora with my boyfriend, buying some eyeliner when he came up to me with this on his wrists. He's been looking for his signature scent and thought he had it with Prada...but the moment he smelled Bvlgari black he knew it was for him. And when I smelled it off of him...WOW! I couldn't stop smelling him...and I loved it so much I bought it for him. He's leaving for the Air Force and can't bring his cologne but I can hold on to it and be reminded of him while he's gone.

my husband stole it from me ;-) I never wear it anymore because he is always wearing it, and smelling identical is a little much for me! It has a wonderful deep, unsweet sexiness to it. I've never gotten that "rubber" scent out of it that I've heard some do, not on either his skin or mine.
I mostly get a black tea smell mixed with a soft incense-like aroma. It isn't girly, but I definitely do think it's unisex without being unsexy. It lasts pretty well. Absolutely unique, which I appreciate. It's one of those scents that is an excellent "signature" scent- it doesn't have an intense throw IMO, it's more of a skin scent, plus you don't run into too many other people wearing, and it's memorable. All good qualities in a signature scent.
Definitely not for everyone, however.

Quick Take: interesting, not my favorite
I like the black tea base, but I did not expect to smell the burnt rubber/leather note so prominently. It's interesting, but I don't see myself wearing it. The tonka bean or vanillic note make it sweet and too gourmand for my taste. I would have liked more of a metallic edge to this.

Quick Take: surprising, leathery, subtle vanilla
Onto the actual review:
The versatility of this fragrance is great since it's one of the very few marketed to both men AND women. I'm sure that makes for a great perk in a relationship.
Prior to this, I was wearing one of the DKNY apple scents, La Vanila in grapefruit-vanilla and then the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. I geared towards the floral, citrusy and fruity scents.
Black is a drastic change from that, and it took me a while to get used to the edginess of the scent.
When I first sprayed it on my wrist, the initial scent was more leathery than rubbery as other people indicated on the review. Let the scent settle in a little before sniffing at your wrist, otherwise it's going to smell like an odd mix of new leather and chemical.
I gave it maybe 10-20 minutes to develop, and the leather overtones faded into a more musky vanilla scent (although very light). I was expecting that an amber scent would develop, but it's very minimal. It's sweeter and subtler than you would expect, given the initial spray, and the leather smell lingers a little to give it a masculine edge.
It's very urban, when you get used to the unusual combination of scents.
I wouldn't say this is your everyday fragrance, but it certainly adds a unique, sensual appeal in the darker hours. I do sense that it will take a confident woman to wear this, since it does have that masculine touch to it. It's not for the faint of heart.

Quick Take: amber rubber and leather
I'm not saying that it's only for women, it's great on a man as well. I'm just shocked that more women don't wear this. Black is a mindbogglingly hot fragrance.
Once you smell Black, you'll never forget it! It's sweet for a second (like an ambrette) and then...bam... rubber and leather knock a smirk right on your face. We don't need me to spell out the suggestive aspects of rubber and leather, let me just say, you'll feel pretty darn hot!
My husband always compliments me when I wear this and, unfortunately for him, so do his friends. lol. It just appeals to men.

My ex-bf wore this wonderful cologne. I don't hate him, but of course he's someone I would like to forget. However, this cologne brings wonderful memories back because he used to smell so good. lol. It's woody, but somewhat soft, sweet, and gentle at the same time. You have to try it on your skin to really smell it. It smells SO incredibly good. Trust me. I hope Bvlgari never stops making this product.

I bought it without trying it. The tester was gone...and I was in the mood for impulse spending. I opened the box in the parking lot, and I suspect I was bored, and wanted transformation. One puff, and I knew that this was very serious stuff. The real deal. It smells like awesome you-know-what. In fact, You have to feel in the mood for it, or you better not wear it, you know? And when you have the confidence to announce that kind of thing with your fragrance, it is intoxicating, you feel seductive. It has the pipe smoke, new tire rubber, leather smell, and then a deep vanilla, sandalwood, musk, almost patchouli-like dry down. Love it.

Quick Take: sexy
I've been wanting to try this for several years as I gravitate towards unisex and feminine men's fragrances. I'm also a fan of woodsy scents so this seemed as though it would be perfect. I initially tried it on at Sephora and thought "meh" initially. The black rubber topnote was subtle and unique, but nothing I really wanted to smell like. I browsed around for 20 more minutes and became smitten with the fragrance as it developed into a warm, woodsy, spicy scent. The rubber scent softened but still added an edgy and unique quality to this fragrance. It's all I've worn since I purchased it 2 weeks ago, I get compliments on it everywhere...men and women. They should stock this in the women's fragrance section, but I'm secretly glad they don't...I enjoy the fact that this fragrance isn't worn by everyone and their sister. I was almost hesitant to write this review because I am selfish that way and want to keep it all to myself.
