Laura Mercier Eye Basics

What it is: A multi-tasking eye color/eye primer that camouflages imperfections and enhances makeup. What it does: Create the perfect canvas for your eyes. The sheer, creamy texture blends easily and smoothly, leaving a long-lasting semi-matte finish. The eyes are primed and imperfections and discolorations are covered, leaving lids smooth and even. Skin-friendly ingredients enhance this delicate skin, while botanicals soothe and vitamins A, E, and C provide anti-oxidant protection. Water-resistant and crease-proof, it contains natural clay, which prevents creasing. What else you need to know: Use as a primer, or alone to add a little color to your eyes.

Best eye primer
-05.21.13
Quick Take: color correcting, crease resistant, long-lasting, non-drying, natural color
I have tried every eye primer out there on the market. This is my favorite. I do have dry skin, but my eyelids get oily due to heat and humidity. This is the only eye primer that doesn't overdry my lids, flake, cake up, crease or give me a weird color on my eyelids. It's a great neutralizing primer that keeps oiliness at bay for hours while looking very natural. I put on my eye makeup at 6:30 a.m., and my eyelids are still crease-free and oil-free at 7 p.m. My eye makeup really stays put with this. I was using Urban Decay and prefer this much better for its more natural color for lighter skin tones.

I like a natural look, and this is perfect. I went from wearing nothing on my lids, ever, to wearing this every day. Evens skin, just gives me that extra something I needed.

I love this product. I have used the Wheat color for years and wanted something without color. A good primer or can be worn alone as well. You can't go wrong with this- superior!

Exactly what I have been looking for!
-05.09.13
Quick Take: creamy, crease resistant, color correcting
At 62 I don't like anything shiny or sparkly on my eyelids. This Buff color cream is perfect. It goes on easily, dries almost immediately, and doesn't get creases like most shadows do with my somewhat oily eyelids. I checked it out in the store and bought it right away. I was very impressed with it and it's great for my natural, minimal makeup look. Highly recommend for older women!

Great substitute for concealer

Quick Take: color correcting, crease resistant
This helps hide the veins and darkness on my eyelids perfectly. I love that it is mostly a matte finish but has a little bit of pearliness. I don't even put eyeshadow over it.

My go-to for a lid primer
-05.05.13
Quick Take: crease resistant
Now that I'm in my 30s I find my lids get oily half-way thru the day and my shadow literally slides off and over. I use the Flax color which matches my fair-to-light skin tone perfectly and keeps my lid from getting oily. I tried a few other brands before settiling on this one. It will not dry out your lids too much and doesn't flake or clump and doesn't seem to interfere with different shadowns. I will continue to use even though its a bit expensive. One tube lasts me about 5-6 months.

Worse than no primer.
-05.01.13
Quick Take: ineffective
I've used 6 different eye primers, and this one is the least effective that I have tried. It goes on fine, is easy to apply shadow on top of, but within 2-3 hours both the primer and the shadow are in my crease or at the corner of my eye. On the third day that I tried it, I put it on one eye and not the other; shadow on the eye without this product lasted longer. I have primers that cost 1/8 as much that work much better. I highly recommend trying this out before buying it to see if it works for you.

I purchased the color Linen and this takes the place of my concealer on my lids. Good soft coverage and helps eyeshadow stay in place all day (even with cream shadow). I also have Urban Decay eyeshadow primer but it doesn't provide the coverage this does.

Great eyeprimer
-04.26.13
Quick Take: color correcting, creamy, crease resistant, convenient
I really love this product. Previously, I would use a primer then have to add a concealer since my eyelid skin is thin and shows veins. This eye primer is great because it conceals and primes in one step. I truly love it and it works great. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because it does not seem to have as great of staying power compared to Urban Decay's primer potion. Nonetheless, it still works as a great eyeshadow base!!

Best Eye Primer
-04.22.13
I use this primer every day. I love that it comes in different shades and with the one that works for me (wheat) I get a clean palette to hold my eye shadow in place. And it does that excellently - my shadow lasts all day without a hint of fading or smudging at all.

I love this product. It always performs as expected and I am never disappointed. I use "Wheat", which is perfect for me. She did come out with one in a glass jar, but it dried up too fast. This is by far the better product.

Stays on
-04.10.13
I have oily eyelids and have tried all different primers. I love this because it says on well and doesn't dry out my eyelids but doesn't budge either. Some primers get in my eyes and bother my contacts, this one does not.

All day staying power
-04.09.13
Quick Take: crease resistant, color correcting
Great product, I even like the applicator. I use this on my aging eye lids and my powder eye shadow, stays put all day and through the evening. I used another popular product that also works well, but this is even better. I did get the wheat and I would say is a peachy flesh color, next time I'll go for the lighter version for med/light skin.

Hooked
-04.08.13
I tried this as a sample and really liked it. In wheat it works well on my skin tone to wear alone for a bare but polished look. As an eye shadow primer it is terrific because it keeps colors fresh all day long --only under extreme heat and humidity (tropical jungle weather conditions) have I seen my eye shadow crease.
