Quick Take: wonderful for older skin.
I used to use #2 when I was in my 20's and 30's now I use #1 for sensitive skin since my skin had changed in my 50's. It's wonderful,light ,cool and removes all make up and dirt that the cleansers don't.

I needed a toner and picked this up. I was pleasantly surprised! It's gentle, not drying, and also does a good job picking up makeup residue. I haven't had any problems. It's a keeper.

I use this after the cleansing soap in my skincare system. I recommend using a cotton ball and apply the lotion evenly. After doing this I can already see any dirt, etc. being removed, and it feels cool on my face afterwards.

Even when my white towel shows me my face is clean, it doesn't really FEEL clean until I go over it with a cotton pad soaked with Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1. It just assures me my skin is ready for whatever treatment products I may want to use.

My skin is very dry and flaky during the winter. I dislike putting creamy lotion on my face because it feels too oily so I bought this to try out. This product is actually really great and it usually gets rid of the flakyness in my face. It feels refreshing and it doesn't burn unlike most toners. The only reason why its missing a star is because I found something slightly better, but overall it is a great product!

Awesome toner. Part of the three step cleansing system it's amazing how much dirt still comes off with this stuff, even after washing with the facial soap. Follow with the lotion and you are good to go! My face is clear and brighter and pores are smaller. I will purchase again!
Only down side is it goes very quickly. Suggest buying larger size.

I've been using Clinique's 3-step since it debuted. The clarifying lotion feels great and preps my skin for moisturizers.The "1" is good for drier skin and I alternate between this and the "Extra Gentle". Highly recommend this.

I have been using the 3 step system, along with the exfoliating scrub, for about a month now. the toner doesn't feel harsh or drying on my skin, although you can definitely feel the difference after you apply it.
just a note, i used to have random breakouts, especially on the areas surrounding my chin. since i began this skin care regimen, i have seen precisely one teensy little pimple, and it was gone the next morning. i don't know if it is any one step i'm taking or the combination of products as a whole, but i'm a total believer in this wonderful system!

been using this product for 10 yrs now, used to have acnes, now i don't...even if i decide to use a diff product in between, never get breakouts, love it!! oh yeah, before i forget if ur not use to this product, kinda sting on the first few times u used it. but like i said been using this product for a long time, and no more acne!

I was using the Clarifying Lotion 2, but it seemed to dry my skin out, so I decided to try the Clarifying Lotion 1. The CL1 makes my skin feel smooth and clean without drying it out or giving it a tight feeling. It also has no scent. I have finally found the formula that's right for me.
