i buy this for my husband and he absolutely loves it! he's the kind of guy that could actually shave twice a day ~ hairy! he has rough stubble but the lab maximum comfort shave cream makes shaving a pleasure for him ~ he's hooked!

Quick Take: poor, new formulation is not worth the money, there are new better altenatives with lidocain
As a 20 year Lab Series user I am disappointed that they took out the benzocaine. I am have very sensitive skin and the benzocaine made shaving tolerable. I have found an alternative with lidocaine. Don't buy this is your looking for the numbing effect!

Quick Take: high-end shaving for men
My husband loves this product so much that he stocks up on it. It's pretty much eliminated razor burn and irritation. He rarely nicks himself while using this product and gets fewer if not no ingrown hairs - and those used to be a real issue!

I have been using this product for a while, however this time I got a jar that announced it was a new and improved formula... NOT!!! I would like to have the old formula back. Now I'm going to have to find another shave cream.

Formula has changed, be wary of this product

Quick Take: disappointing
This used to be the finest shaving product on the market. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has changed the formula, so now it is just another cream. If you have used it in the past, it is NOT what you are expecting. If you are considering using it, do not believe the 'maximum comfort' title, you can likely find equal products with a much lower price tag.

Quick Take: lab series max comfort shave cream
This is by far the best shaving cream that I have ever used! I have never had a closer shave.
I liked it the first time that I used it and then the next day, a full 24 hours later, my beard felt like I didn't even need to shave! I even tried an experiment with the Kiehls cream that I sometimes use, and shaved both sides of my face with the two different creams and you could feel the difference. I'd give it a big "Thumbs Up"!

My boyfriend loves this shave cream. It is the only thing that has ever given him zero knicks. For a guy who typically buys cheap over quality, it is well worth the extra few dollars.

The product works by numbing the skin so that you can shave easily . The downside is that if you care not careful, since the skin is numb, you can cut yourself as I have done multiple times with this cream . Yet if you shave carefully it is workth it . You will have a clear clean cut shave ! But watch out for the cuts!

Quick Take: non-irritating, soothing, great value
When I had 100 beauty points, the deluxe sample of this was one of the available perks so I got it for my husband. He liked it so much that he asked me to order the full size. He-never-does that so I knew he must have liked it a lot. He has serious issues with razor burn that no other product has been able to effectively deal with. Since he started using this in January, he hasn't had razor burn a single time. The full size is a really generous size container and should last a long time. But when it runs out, we'll definitely be buying more.

My boyfriend is cheap! He won't buy $22 shaving cream. He swears by his $2 foam from CVS. Well, I bought him this and he loves it. He doesn't use any other shaving cream.
The benzocaine is nice because it helps numb the skin. Shaving can be painful for my bf, as he needs to shave daily for his job.
If your man needs a new shaving cream... or you want one fir your bikini area that makes shaving more comfortable, buy this. You wont be disappointed.

Lab Series recently changed the formula of this product (late 2010) and it is not the same as it was before. The consistency is considerably thinner and drips when a wet razor comees in contact with it.
Didn't provide a close and most importantly, comfortable shave, either. Wound up returning mine.
To differentiate the new and "improved" product from the old just look for green sticker on the top of the jar... that's the new and "Improved" version. The traditional/old formula doesn't have the green sticker.

Quick Take: the best shave cream i've found, gold in a jar, worth the price
This stuff is AMAZING!!! I originally received it as a sample, but am going to start purchasing the full size from now on. My husband has extremely sensitive skin and gets severely painful razor burn every time he shaves. He used this and got the closest shave ever and his razor burn was also greatly reduced. I used it to shave my bikini area and was very pleased. I also get severe razor burn "down there" that is very painful, but when I used this I didn't experience any razor burn at all. It is usually painful every time I shave and bleed with all of the former products I've used, maybe it's the benzocaine in the product, but I had absolutely zero discomfort (pulling, tugging, bleeding, etc.) when I used this. I recommend this product to everyone (men and women), especially if you experience any discomfort or razor burn when shaving. I might even start using it on my legs if my husband lets me use that much of this prized possession :) Even though it's more expensive than store bought shaving creams, it is well worth the extra money.

Quick Take: soothing, numbing
Yes, this product contains a small amount of Benzocaine, which is a local anesthetic. It works by slightly numbing your face which makes shaving much more comfortable, especially for people like me who have very sensitive skin, and can only shave once every 3-4 days or I get red bumps.
After you're done shaving, the numbness goes away in a few minutes. The numbing affect is not a defect of the product, it's clearly intentional.
This product is great if you have sensitive skin, just don't be scared off by the ingredients! :)
