Product great. Store not so much.
-06.18.13
Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, non-sticky
I enjoyed the Carol's Daughter products I purchased from Sephora. However I was extremely unhappy with the store. There was only a small selection available and the samples were rancid. I asked the salesperson if I could open one of the others to check the smell of the mimosa and honey. She informed me that she was not allowed to do that until all the product was gone. I gave her my opinion that no one would be interested in rancid products. She said it was not selling well and I told her that was no surprise when the only samples smelled so bad. She appeared surprised that the products had multicultural use. I will return to purchasing on line since I know that I will get fresh products from someone who gives a care.

Way too greasy and waxy
-06.17.13
Quick Take: heavy, oily
I have fine, thick hair that I have been highlighting for over 10 years to retain a light-blonde color. I always use some type of heat protectant/moisturizer in wet hair prior to heat styling. This one made my hair look really greasy and gross, however, even when I used a small amount on my fingertips applied to the ends of my hair. Also, it felt very waxy going on, and made my hair difficult to comb through, raising the risk of breakage (a problem for my hair as it is). I returned this product and will not buy it again.

Love It!
-05.10.13
Quick Take: easy to use
My daughter is mixed white and black. I use it after her bath. I flat iron her hair in the morning. It does make her hair a little greasy after I flat iron it, but after the first day her hair is great! Use just a little, it goes far. I've had a container for a couple of years. I love it! With out it her hair would be a mess.

Another Carol's Daughter's product
-05.04.13
Quick Take: non-sticky, easy to use
I used to use Marguerita's Magic for my hair to keep it well conditioned. This product is a little heavier but is just as good. My hair is both permed and colored so it needs extra conditioning. It makes the hair so supple and well groomed. I would recommend it.

Love this product
-04.09.13
Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, non-sticky
This product added great moisture to my hair. When I opened the prodcut and felt the consistency I did not believe that this product would do much for my hair, but I was wrong. It was the best. The smell is awful, but other than that It is awesome.

Just ok
-04.01.13
I just used for a couple days because i dont like the way it makes my hair feel. the texture of the creme is nice but once its on your hair it feels thick and sticky. feels more like a lotion and i use the extras and rub on my body. My hair is braided most of the time so i'll use it for now but wouldnt use when i wearmy curls.

Great product
-03.31.13
This is one of the best hair moisturizers I have used. It is very light, gives a great shine and it doesn't feel greasy. There's no residue on my hands or my hair. My hair feels very soft and controls frizz.

Love!
-03.30.13
I absolutely live this stuff! It leaves my hair so shiny and soft. The only thing I didn't care for was the smell. It kinda smells like that stuff you rub on your chest when you have a cold but not as strong but I love it! It also helps with frizziness!

I use this regularly and it keeps my curls smooth and nourished. Also, I love the way it smells. A little goes a long way and it is one of my beauty basics.

Not worth it.
-02.28.13
Quick Take: smelly
This left my hair feeling/looking greasy. The worst part is the smell. It has a pretty nasty smell in the bottle, but once you put it on your hair it becomes much worse. It made my whole room smell. My roommate said it smelled like lice shampoo.

Works Well But Smells AWFUL!
-02.26.13
Quick Take: non-sticky, easy to use, smelly, moisturizing, creamy, thick
I have to say that this product works really well at moisturizing my hair which is relaxed. It tames frizz and keeps the hair smooth. The only problem is the smell! I have to use this only on the weekends and only if I do not plan on going out because it smells so horrible. It's really embarrassing! Another commenter said that she wore it to work and felt self-conscious about the smell. I had the same issue. It's simply putrid. Maybe if it came unscented or if some pleasant essential oils were added it would help. I'm really torn on a repurchase because like I said, it works but I don't think I can get past the smell. You also have to use it sparingly because it's really creamy. Otherwise, you'll get white residue in the hair.

Just okay

I use this around my edges then tie it down with a scarf. If you have the type of hair that will lay down with "JAM" then this is a good product for you since it is not drying at all.

It doesn't really moisturize
-02.21.13
When I tested this in the store, there wasn't such a strong scent, but the scent DEFINITELY increases after about 5 minutes on your hair. In fact, I could describe it as pungent.
It smells of deep woodsy musk mixed with beeswax. It really smelled awful when I was inside my car cabin alone, and it made the scarf I was wearing around my neck also smell strongly--just based on my hair's proximity! The first day I wore it to work I was embarrassed that I smelled like some outdoor hiking concert or something.
Now, to the actual protection for damaged hair...! My hair has been shedding and breaking at the ends due to the extremely cold weather in my area. I wanted something to moisturize and seal in the moisture. This hair butter goes on thick, but it doesn't hydrate my strands anymore than ORS hair lotions. And, when you sleep with this overnight, the hair isn't softened, and the crispy ends are still crispy. If you apply too much, you hair has a slight stiffness to it, but since it's still pliable/bendy, I wouldn't call it crunchy. Either way, I wasn't pleased that my wasn't soft/bouncy.
I won't repurchase this product mainly because the fragrance is too strong, but also because the cream mixture starts to make my hair a little crisp. The ratio of jojoba oil, coconut oil and shea butter might be wrong for my hair type. When I made this mixture by myself (adding olive and tea tree oil), it was much more creamy and it seems to help my hair, though it's hard for me to find raw shea butter and I was hoping someone else hadn't gotten the formula right. Unfortunately, that someone else isn't Carol's Daughter's healthy hair butter.

Decent
-02.15.13
This hair butter Is ok. I have fine hair but dense thickness, this tends to weight my hair down if I use too much. The scent is wayyyy to strong. Especially when I use it before bed. Overall I think it seals in moisture, not actually moisturizes hair.

Protective, Not Moisturizing
-01.09.13
Quick Take: lightweight, non-sticky
I have tried this product a few times and have had a love hate relationship with it. T. I am ranking it a 4 because It does what it says and that is to protect the hair so this is more of a sealant. I have tried to use this as a moisturizer and honestly i just dont feel this penetrates the hair at all. The reason I feel this way is that if you wet your hair, you can see the white residue of the product. When i use other leave in conditioners my hair actually absorbs the product and when I wash it their is no residue. This does not mean its a bad product its just that I wished that it was more conditioning. I think this is good for twist or someone who irons their hair regularly. I

Can't get past the smell
-01.07.13
I'm sure it's very moisturizing, but the smell is horrible. Quite honestly it reminded me of dirt. But I tried anyway thinking that it would calm down. I used the size of a nickel. I just can't get past the smell. Had to wash it out. I'm returning this one and will try another.
