Nice product!
-10.09.12
Quick Take: excellent
This retracting brush stays clean in it's aluminum case. The brush is soft and works well and I like being able to toss it in the bowl where I keep my translucent powder and not worry about it getting dirty.

Wish it stayed together...
-12.12.10
I bought the brush because of it's portability it's reputable brand. The bristles started coming off and all over my face.

Quick Take: portable, bristles break off
Within a couple of years, I went through two of these brushes. I continued to purchase this brush because I liked the convenience of the compact, retractable format, and I am a big Stila fan. However, I have sensitive skin and the bristles are not as soft as I would like, so I stopped purchasing the Stila #31 Retractable Brush. This brush did not provide me with the coverage I wanted, either (I used this brush to apply Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation). Coverage with this brush is very light. Also, after repeated use, the bristles fell apart and became itchy.
I was not getting my money's worth for this brush.
This review also applies to Stila retractable bronzer brush.

Update on my previous review
-06.29.10
Quick Take: bristles break off
An update on my previous 5 star review:
Stay away from this one. Over time this brush falls apart! It's now in the trash. Little black fibers began breaking off and getting all over my face when I applied my powder. I bought it for the retractable aspect and the good price point for a powder brush. It was soft until bristle pieces began falling off.
Lesson: Spend the $ on a more expensive/quality powder brush.

I was loving this brush till
-04.24.10
Quick Take: soft bristles
It fell apart! the brush section came apart from the metal case and while it is an easy fix I think, the quality should be better than this. I think that if I put a dot of glue on the bottom I can pop it back in.
The upside is that it is a great brush other than that, very soft, does a great job with pressed powder in spreading evenly and lightly.

Stila Brush
-01.18.10
Quick Take: soft bristles, travel friendly
I love this brush! It's really soft and doesn't shed like some others. I wasn't so sure about it because my other retractable one fell apart the first time i used it, but this is a very good brush!

Retractable Powder Brush
-11.14.09
Quick Take: not sure what kind of hair...but it sheds
Thought this brush would be great to keep loose powder from getting all over my make-up bag. It is nice for that....however, the brush sheds when you use it, so you end up with short, black hairs on your face. When you're as old as I am, it isn't always that easy to see them. I wouldn't buy this brand of brush again and wouldn't recommend it.

convenient, but not as soft as some
-10.28.09
The brush is not as soft as I would have liked, but the bristles do not fall out during use and the retractable brush/case makes it great for taking along. Compact, and brush stays clean and intact.

Bristles fall out!
-09.05.09
This brush is functional, but the bristles continually fall out. It'll do until it's time for me to order another. I will definitely stick with a brush from Bare Escentuals in the future (even though they tend to be more expensive).

Perfectly shaped and travel worthy!
-07.14.09
This brush is made of extremely soft bristles that do not shed, and it stays clean for travel or storage in purse or make-up bag.
I own the bronzer brush too, and love them both.
This one holds the perfect amount of powder to do your entire face, and its tapered point gets into all the areas around the nose, chin, and below the eyes very easily.
It is a great value and now the second best brush I own!

It's Okay...
-04.28.09
Likes: how the tip of the brush is slimmer/pointy so it allows you to get to certain areas of you face
Dislikes: the brush had a weird smell to it (to me) and I'm also unsure what the brush hair is made of...

I needed a new powder brush and this Stila retractable brush is perfect for my loose powder. Not only is it soft, the full brush allows for good coverage, and since it retracts, it fits perfectly in my small cosmetics bag.

Top notch powder brush at a great price!
-12.30.08
Powder brushes can be expensive, but this one from Stila is a great value. The hair is soft and the retractable feature is just what I needed to replace my old fat messy brush. It is much nicer and keeps any excess powder from getting all over my makeup box. Great quality!

Perfect for travel...
-12.12.08
Quick Take: soft bristles
Stila's retractable powder brush is excellent for travel. On a daily basis I use the powder brush # 8, but for when I travel this is the brush I take. It is soft and picks up powder skilfully. This is a very handy brush to own.

Perfect for your purse or traveling
-09.30.08
Quick Take: soft bristles, portable, travel friendly
Great for traveling and keeping in your purse. I use this brush all the time. The only thing I do not like about this brush is that from keeping it in my purse the letting has started to rub off. Otherwise, it is an excellent brush. It was my compromise to spending the money on a full-sized brush, and I'm really happy I have this one because it is so portable. I have little problems with the brush shedding as well.
