Classy, spicy fragrance!

Quick Take: spicy, woody, floral, classy
I'm a big fan of spicy fragrances, and enjoy the way several of the Acqua Di Parma Colonia's smell on others, but only Colonia Assoluta, with it's big dose of cardamom and pepper tempered with balancing woods and florals, does it for me. It's awesome! Only four stars because it's not *quite* a "holy Grail" scent for me, but it's close.

I love love love Colonia - it's pretty much my signature scent...but I wanted to try something new so I got Colonia Assoluta without ever having smelled it. Big mistake. For me it lost a little something in the transition from a somewhat masculine cologne to a more feminine perfume. While it retains some of the essence of Colonia that I love, I think the conversion to a more "feminine" version left it, at least for me, with a strong powder undertone on the dry down. It reminds me of an older woman's perfume (I'm trying really hard to get around saying it reminds me of my grandmother). Of course this could just be my own body chemistry, but I am somewhat disappointed that I do not smell the floral undertones that others seem to be getting.
On a positive note it has a lot of throw and is a very long lasting scent.

I was away and found Aqua. This is not for the faint of heart. This is not for women looking for a fun, flirty scent. It's masculine with a touch of femininity, one that only a confident women can carry on. If you like Dior Addict, Dior Hypnotic Poison, or Fendi Palazzo, this is for you. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
