Last year for some unknown reason, the skin on my eyelids got red and extremely dry that it flaked. I had ran out of the eye cream I was using so I needed a new one.
I went to Sephora looking for a moisturizing eye cream, not at all concerned with fine lines and wrinkles or dark circles or puffiness, just something hydrating. I tested this on the back of my hand in the store to get an idea of it's texture and finish and was quite pleased. When the sales associate came around asking if I needed any help, she said this one was very hydrating so that only convinced me more to buy it.
This stuff has the texture of what I would call mousse and applies fairly light for it's formula. It stings/ burns the skin around my eyes if they're very dry so that's unfortunate. It doesn't feel like this stuff actually sinks into your skin to fully hydrate it, instead it just sits on top of the skin and in a way, trying to mask your dryness. If you were to gently rub the skin around your eyes where you applied it, the product would ball up and roll off, pretty much removing it completely.
For it's $32 price tag, I'd say this is something to skip as there are better quality eye creams out there.

Disappointing- 02.14.10

I love the ultra rich moisturizer so I had high hopes for this eye cream. I was specifically seeking something to treat the dry skin I was experiencing in my eye area. Well, it didn't make much difference. The problem is that it sits on the skin surface. If you touch your eye area it rubs off so you really can't wear it during the daytime. It's really odd and disappointing. I wish I would have returned it.

L'Occitane's Ultra Rich Eye Balm is one of my favorite eye creams. It's luxurious and rich without the 'greasy' feeling of some eye balms. Feels nice to the touch and truly does what it says it will ..hydrate the under eye area.

I found this eye-cream to be moisturizing and my under-eye area is noticeably softer and smoother after 2 weeks of application. The deep fine lines under my eyes were less obvious, even though my eyes crinkle a little when I smile.
I wouldn't say that this is the best product ever, but it surely does what it states. It's fast absorbing and moisturizing. I just wish I didn't have to dip my finger in there to scoop it out.

Awesome for dry and sensitive skin- 01.07.10

I bought this when I had a bad reaction to another product which caused my eyes to dry up and turn red. It instantly helped and healed them. This cream is perfect for dry skin but and feels good going on, but sadly it does nothing for dark circles and anti aging. I still use it because I've yet to find a good cream that doesn't irritate and I use it combined with other trial creams to prevent dryness. Overall it is great and still a must have if your skin is very sensitive.

I love L'Occitane products, particularly the Shea Butter Hand Cream and the Shea & Cotton Cream (an excellent moisturizer for sensitive skin -- please start carrying it, Sephora!). However, the Ultra Rich Eye Balm is a huge disappointment. The thick cream did not absorb into my skin at all, clumping around my eyes and irritating them like crazy. This was a complete waste of money, and I returned it immediately.

I was looking for an intensely rich cream that absorbed easily . Though this cream is thick I feel like very little actually gets absorbed while the rest forms a slippery layer on my eye area. I can't apply concealer after applying this cream as it tends to flake (not an issue with my previous eye cream). I'd say the worst part is how badly it stings if it accidentally gets into my eyes, I end up having to rinse my eyes out! This def wasn't an issue with my previous eye creams.

Super Hydrating...great eye balm- 10.18.09

I purchased this eye cream on the recommendation of a Sephora sales associate. I had visiited Sephora looking for a hydrating eye product to help moisturize my extremely dry eye lid area. Most eye products tend to burn the skin around my eyes, but this is ultra gentle and was great for my sensitive skin. I felt no irritation upon applying and was surprised at how moisturizing this balm was. I am so glad I purchased it. It has really helped keep my eye area moisturized and I love the way it feels on the skin.
