I've personally never used this, but my mom buys it whenever she starts to get dark spots and swears by it. She did mention it smells a little weird and it makes her skin feel a little sticky. But it really does work.

Quick Take: whitening, brightening
First, I'm a male. 27 yrs old.
Obviously it's not cheap. The price is not what you care about if you go for Shiseido.
The product was great. I noticed results after 2 weeks. My nightly routine was to wash my face, apply this serum on my entire face, let it dry for 5 minutes, apply a night moisturizer and lightly spray rose water on my face. The bottle lasted me 2 months.
It makes your face feel great after applying it to your skin. The consistency is very liquid, so it will dry and absorb into skin quickly. I'm on my 4th bottle now.

Quick Take: diminishes brown spots, evens out skin tone
One week after applying this serum day and night, a large brown spot on my left cheekbone is noticeably lighter. The small dark spots on my cheeks are also lighter and my skin tone is much clearer and even. I was very skeptical about this serum because many companies' products don't work. This one worked on my skin.

Magic in a bottle

Im a 23 year old New Yorker and believe me when I tell you environmental radicals, pollutants, sun and stress all take a toll on your skin. I had noticeable dark spots, some due to acne ... Others due to irresponsible sun exposure. I have tried various other department store serums yet nothing helped on my oh do very sensitive skin. Other product would either over dry my skin or cause me to break out. I have combination skin of dry to very oily yet after using shisiedo's white translucent I swear by it. Only after 2 weeks I've seen a huge difference. Love it!

Quick Take: hydrating
I got the deluxe sample and within just 2 days I definitely saw a noticeable difference. It doesn't remove dark spots completely (lets be realistic - that's probably impossible) but it does lighten them considerably and brightens your overall complexion as well. It helped with the numerous freckles all over my nose and cheeks and also the dark spots left after two large pimples. It makes your skin very soft too! I'm going to try a few other products from this line too now.

I've only been using it for 2 weeks and you can tell my dark marks are noticeably lighter or have gone almost unnoticeable! My sunspots are getting lighter, I think those one take longer to go away and my face has became brighter. I do have a problem with this line though, maybe it's just my skin but I have been breaking out a bit more with all these product on my face.

I heard about this product through a friend who raved about it and I thought I had to try it. I'm a Asian women in her early 20's with sun spots, acne scars, and skin pigmentation around my nose&chin area. I have been using this product for 2 weeks now. My dark areas around my contour line has been noticeably reduced. I do notice my sunspots are getting lighter! So far so good. The price if pocket breaking but it's worth it. It's does what it really says! I also have their face wash&night cream from then same line and LOVE it! People complain about having sticky skin after apply on products&feel that it just sits on top of their skin. My advice is after applying toner wait for it to dry then apply the serum. Allow serum to dry then apply moisturizer. These product needs time to soak into your skin so don't just apply it one after another. Yes I would recommend this product!

I had gotten this as a deluxe sample twice and really liked it. After the second sample I decided to invest in the full sized product. I'm really happy I've continued it. I have old acne marks and post-pregnancy "splotches" and this product has lightened both. I plan to continue using it.

it worked for me

I've such a product junkie that I've tried it all. PTR, Ole, Caudalie, Murad, just to name a few. And I saw a brighter complexion but not really with my red acne scars. I finally gave Shiseido a try and WOW I can't believe how fast I saw the result. I'm so please with it that I went to purchase the moisturizer. I know it's expensive but it worked for me and besides after trying all those other brands the price is about the same. I'm a little disappointed to see so many bad reviews.

After using it for a week, I can see the result that my face is brighten even I am not sure about the ability of reducing dark spots. Now my face skin tone is lighter than my arms skin tone from summer time. So far I like this product.

Quick Take: lightening
I purchased this product for the brown spots on my arms and legs from sun damage - (I'm 70 with a complexion of a 35 - 40 yeqar old, but my body looks my age) and after going through an entire bottle in about 3 -4 weeks, I can say that the spots are definitey fading nicely - however, at the rate they are fading and at the small size of the bottle and at the great expense (about the costliest on the market for such a very small bottle) I will not be purchasing another bottle - There appears to be other products out there others have had success with and which I plan to try before considering buying another bottle of thi s- If you are using it just for your face and have only a few spots then yes, this would be a 5 star product!

I've tried tons of other whitening/dark spot serums and treatments, and was about to give up when I decided to try one last time with this product. I'm so glad I did!
At first I didn't notice anything at all - I am trying to get rid of some very bad dark spots from acne scars around my chin - but after using it for a couple of weeks I randomly looked at myself in the mirror one day and thought "HOLY CR*P MY FACE!" My skin looked fair and clear, and my severe acne scarring on my chin was, while not gone, very faded.
For the first time since I was a teenager (I am 28 now), I have been leaving the house with nothing but tinted moisturizer on my face. I never thought this day would come!!
I know the price is high, but I am SO glad I took the plunge. It also doesn't clog my pores at all (a lot of the other things I tried did), it feels light and non-greasy, and has no noticeable scent. I love, love, love this and will always keep using it. Feels like a miracle to me.

I have used this product for over a year, and I did not realize its brightening effects because it is VERY gradual - I would say it took at least 6 months before you notice anything. I gauged its effectiveness by focusing on an acne scar on my forehead - it did absolutely nothing for it. However, it does brighten and even out my overall complexion, and I am finding I use less foundation every day. It does not work for my dark spots and dark acne scars, so instead of all over foundation, I am spot treating with minimal concealer on my dark spots. I am still looking for a stronger product to treat my scars, but will continue to use this until then. I am on my second bottle. (I have stopped using this for 3 months when I ran out, and saw my face go back to its usual uneven skin tone, requiring all over foundation - so this works - just not a big, shocking whitening effect) - Although I am in my 30s, I still have acne breakouts (hormonal related), and applying this nightly has helped to calm my skin, less breakouts! A benefit I was not expecting.
