This stuff is great! I use it as a primer under my foundation and it works better than any other primer I've used. It's very smooth and makes your skin so soft. Its very good for people with acne prone and oily skin like me. It takes about 5 minutes to soak in completely. It also makes your skin very matte and stay matte all day. You only need a little bit too. Oh and it smells good lol It may be expensive but it works as a lotion, primer, mattifier, and sunscreen and it's really worth the money.

Doesn't make the face extremely oily and greasy, but like all other sunscreens, it makes the face feel slightly off. But this product is still very good compared to other alternatives and at a better price also.

Slight disappointment

Small amount of sunscreen for the price. Leaves a subtle white residue on the skin. Would expect better for this price.

I've never written a Sephora review before even though I've been a loyal customer for over 7 years. What can I say? I'm lazy. But I'm giving this sunscreen a review because as of today, I've been using it for 3 years! (And I seriously never use the same products for that long.)
I have this sunscreen in a variety of SPFs--maybe I'm a little obsessed, but I love them all. My skin is acne-prone and very sensitive to new products, but this sunscreen actually soothes my skin and I use it every single day. A couple of years ago, I built houses for Habitat for Humanity under the blistering sun of New Orleans, and while everyone else go sunburned after using Neutrogena, etc., I was the only one who ended up perfectly fine--and trust me, it's not because my skin's not prone to sunburn. Not only does it get the job done, this sunscreen is also non-greasy, light, and highly moisturizing. In the winter when my normal moisturizer just doesn't cut it, all I have to do is apply this and my skin feels comfortable and supple the whole day. Plus, it makes for a fantastic primer!
A couple of things though:
1) I recommend this for people who like to keep their skin as light as possible. Not sure if it's just me, but it seems like my skin gets lighter when I use it.
2) It's quite pricy. I usually stay away from Shiseido products because of the price tag, but I bought this because I knew I would use it all the time if I liked it. For me, in these 3 years, I've only had to purchase two bottles so I think it's worth it, but it may vary depending on person.
3) This is a no-brainer, but this sunscreen obviously needs to be reapplied if you're outside under severe conditions (i.e. my housing project) for a long time. I would suggest once every 2-3 hrs.

Used this sunscreen for about two weeks already and it has a very creamy texture to it. It also has a very matte finish. A dime sized amount could cover your entire face which is a plus since one tube could go a long way. Will definitely repurchase!!

Smooths and protects

Quick Take: non-greasy, blends in easily
I don't use this all year round, but when spring and summer come, I make sure to grab a bottle or two right away. This non-greasy, waterproof formula is easy to blend on the face and it's thick enough to not run into your eyes. I also like to double it as a primer since it glides over my skin nicely creating a smooth barrier and slightly evens out my skin tone before I put on my foundation. I have oily skin and this actually keeps the oil at bay--a huge plus!

I was a little hesitant to try this product since i have super oily face...I MEAN OILY after hour of moisturizing, i can literally use 2 entire blotting sheets! I thought it would make my skin oilier, but it actually did not. When i sweat or get got a little, i notice it has a nice red glow to my skin which i don't mind.
This cream goes on smoothly! Must try or you can always return!

i wouldn't recommend this as a sunscreen for the winter season. it's not moisturizing enough even after i slather it all over my face. i wouldn't even consider myself to have very dry skin. probably combination skin. i'll keep this for the summertime, but i had to get something else for now.

I shied away from using sunscreens for a long time because they would look ashy on my skin, break me out, or sit on top of my skin like a film and generally create a goopy, ashy, greasy mess on my skin.
Shiseido's extra smooth sun protection cream with SPF 38PA+++ is fantastic. Its a thick-ish consistency that somehow melts into my skin. Never sits like a film on my face but rather gives it this nice luminous matt look. Skin actually looks more even and feels good to touch immediately after putting this on. Works well under makeup too. I've used it forever and its never clogged up pores or broken me out either (used to have acne, and have sensitive skin/eyes). There's a mild fragrance, that I find soothing and not irritating to the eyes etc.
The SPF of course is great as well, especially for someone with medium-deep skintone prone to hyperpigmentation and dark spots. It helps keep them in check when I'm out and about in the sun.
The packaging is nice, the lid snaps shut and has never opened when in my handbag (the horror!), its small and thin so doesn't take up a lot of space in my bag either.
I'm never stepping out of the house without this on, love it.

I love this product. It goes on so smoothly, has a lovely but light scent, provides good protection, moisturizes as it protects and though it's a little pricey, you only really need a dime's worth per day for your face and can use something else that goes farther for your body. The design/packaging is also fantastic.

Meets all FDA requirements for UVA/UVB sunscreen. Smells good. Spreads well. If I feel a spot burning, I put some more on and I'm good to go. Feel like it stays put through water, sweat and sand without making me feel like I want to take a shower. As a woman of color It doesn't leave me with a whitish cast if I rub it in well. Plus it doesn't have oxybenzone in it.

i have to admit i was a little skeptical about this product when a sephora associate was recommending this. i don’t usually wear any sublock at all (which is not good). i didn't want to use the clinique sunblock line as i was starting to breakout with any clinique lotion/creams that i've used in the past (with a few exceptions like the even better clinical serum), anyway i thought i'd give this a try. i had to try it for a few days/weeks to really see if there's any difference at all..... but the result is instant! it's very smooth, and it blends in quickly. you don't need too much as the consistency is very good and it'll last for a few months depending on how many times you use it... i however only do it in the morning after putting my moisturizer. i find that it's also a great as a makeup base. it doesnt cake and trust me i have super oily skin and I also spray a water mist in the day. I bought this in mar2011 and I’m still using the same bottle! I will definitely repurchase this again.
