For years I used Urban Decay eyeshadow base, but lately (maybe because I've had the tube for a while) the product would dry on my lids before I had a chance to blend it, making a splotchy mess. The Clarins, by contrast, is smooth, creamy, and blendable and dries to a matte (but not crackly-dry) finish to provide the perfect, feather-light shadow base. I think this is it for me.

Quick Take: color correcting, creamy, crease resistant
I was a major fan of the urban decay shadow primer range (and still am!) but then I tried this and had to switch. This completely corrected the purple tinge of my lids, it is crease resistant, and it goes on so smooth. You can wear it alone for a natural look if you are looking to just correct color and I find I can wear it under my lids as well (blended with my under eye BB cream). I find it is an excellent choice for those of us with 'crinkly lid syndrome'.

This is a perfect eye make up base for me. I can wear it alone with just some mascara or use it under eyeshadow.....either way......it's perfect. Just what I was looking for!

This is the only eyeshadow base that doesn't make my eyelids irritated. Unfortunately, it creases after several hours. You only need a small amount to cover your eye lid which makes the product last a long period of time.

Quick Take: color correcting
Love this perfecting base. It is the perfect shade for my skin which tends to be light/medium - more medium Spring through Fall. It really holds my shadow in place and I actually use it all around my eye area as a concealer as well. It brightens up my eyes without looking too cakey. I wish it weren't so expensive, but I will definitely purchase again.

Ordered this thinking it was an under eye highlighter. It's not anything even close. Didn't try it as a primer so I can't really say if it works well, but the color was a little peachy for me so I returned it.

I'm glad I got an opportunity to try Clarins' Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base. It's excellent alone, to give me a wide-eyed look. It evens the area around my eyes, and it's an excellent primer. I also like the distribution method. Even though I end up blending with my finger, it's better than some of the others I've tried where I end up sticking my finger into a container, and getting those products gunked under a fingernail. This is better than any of the Urban Decay Primer Potions, and about equal to or slightly better than Shadow Insurance, which is my current favorite. The other nice thing about this is that it's doing double duty for me as a primer and a replacement to Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Radiant Touch. It's an excellent product.

This works very well for me. I dab a bit on my lid, the corner of my eyes (bad discoloration) and a bit under my eyes (dark circles). I lightly pat it in and I get a much brighter appearence around my eyes. It does not set in the lines and wrinkles either. It's a nice base for concealer or a go alone.

I've tried a lot of the "eye brightening" products out there, many VERY expensive. This not only brightens, but gives a nice mid-range coverage, so it actually doubles as concealer on the days when my dark circles aren't at their worst and I don't feel a need to go the extra mile.
I was concerned about the brush, since I haven't been happy with it on other products, but Clarins has managed to make a brush that both allows the product out of the container and doesn't sploosh out so much that you waste product. It also doesn't ooze when not in use, and I keep all my makeup in the bag, so it's horizontal, not vertical.
It brightens, it covers, it doesn't settle in fine lines, doesn't streak or wear off easily and doesn't have packaging designed to waste product.
This is my new must-have!

I bought this because of a reviewer than stated that this eye shadow primer is better than Urban Decay's. I have to agree. This is my favorite of the ones I have tried (Smashbox, Urban Decay which was my previous favorite, and MAC).

This is an updated review, since I finally tried two other brands with samples from Sephora. I like this eye base better than the Urban Decay Primer Potion, which I found drying and harder to apply evenly, and Bare Escentuals Prime Time eyelid primer, which allowed my shadow to crease worse than if I wore no primer at all. Many rave about the BE eye primer, but it's ineffective for oily skin like mine.

This is the first eye base I've ever tried. I have extremely pale skin and as I age, the veins become ever more noticeable, especially on my eyelids. This is great stuff--it evens and conceals beautifully, and for the small amount of eye make-up I actually wear (usually just a pencil liner) and sometimes a sheer highlighter on my browbone. I'd recommend this to anyone, and particularly to women of 40 and over.

I always use an eyeshadow base before applying my eyeshadow. I love this applicator because it goes on quickly. My eyeshadow stays where I put it all day without creasing and it seems to tighten my eyelid......at my age.....that's a very good thing!
