I have been using this for years for mild adult acne. It works fantastically! I tried Pro-active, which fades your pillow case, sheets, comforters, towels & clothing if it gets on them. This product DOES NOT fade anything and works even better. I typically only use it at night, but have used it under my makeup on stressful weeks to prevent breakouts. Salicylic products do not work for me, and this will always be my staple product!!

Quick Take: useless
I have used this product for years and am so disappointed that DDF decided to reformulate this product. I used to use it every day under moisturizer/primer/makeup and it was a Godsend. It was a light refreshing gel that kept my skin clear and did not dry it out. The new formula is thicker and does not completely absorb (it sort of sits on top of the skin) AND is no where near as effective. Complete FAIL, what is with everyone changing their products???

This is a nice alternative to Proactiv 2.5% BP and over the counter products which tend to be 10% BP. The 5% BP with tea tree oil isn't too harsh, but works well. I am still experiencing some hormonal break outs, so this isn't a "miracle" product, but it doesn't over dry and cause "product" break outs from over medicating. It smells refreshing and doesn't leave my skin feeling tight. I only use it at night because I don't think it sinks into the skin enough to wear under make-up. I'm on my second bottle and will keep using it.

Quick Take: acne fighting, gel, grainy
Love this blemish treatment! I find that I get such a better result with my breakouts when I use products that contain benzoyl peroxide over salicylic acid. I like that this is a gel and not a cream. And I like that it feels light on the skin and not heavy or medicated. Also, the tube is a good size and because you don't need to apply a ton of this, it seems to last a very long time. I try to avoid areas like right next to my nose because this does give me a bit of dry skin in the more sensitive areas of my face.
My only criticism and the reason this product doesn't have 5 stars from me is that there are these little grainy beads mixed in. I would love this product even more if it were just a plain gel, no grains. I'm sure they help exfoliate but I always worry that they will get stuck in my pores because I do rub this gel into my face very well.

Can't live without it!

It's been over a year (1 yr and 3 months to be exact) since I bought this and I still have a lot left. I usually use it every other day for blemishes and it's been effective in keeping my face clear (but better for whiteheads than for cystic acne). I really like the slightly grainy texture (it's really minor but exfoliates) and how non-drying it is. Seems mild but is very effective!

Perfect complement to sulfur mask!

I've had moderate-severe acne since third grade, and now that I'm in my twenties I was sick and tired of having awful skin. After reading a million reviews on a million different products, I decided to go for it and ordered this gel and the sulfur therapeutic mask. Fast forward a couple of months: my skin has NEVER EVER EVER looked this good! I started off using this every night and using the mask twice a week, then dropped to using the mask once a week, and now I use the mask every couple weeks and this gel about 3 times a week (at night) to maintain my fabulously smooth skin. It's not very good for daytime wear because it doesn't work very well under makeup, and I would suggest using a moisturizer during the day because the routine can be drying, but other than that, it's amazing. I bought the 2 oz. bottle in November and I still have plenty left at the middle of May! I know this and the sulfur mask are expensive, but they last FOREVER and it's completely worth the splurge! I'll never use anything else!

After reading the raving reviews I thought I would try it. I used it as a preventative measure and I thought it was working well until I get a pimple. So I was like OKAY, lets keep using it. I applied it twice a day on my pimple (luckily my skin never dried out). And what happened? It took more than a week for the pimple to flatten but I still have a scar. Very disappointed. Second time this brand had failed me. (I've had these product for over 2 months)

Bought this product about 2 months ago and have been using it every morning and night on small pimples/trouble spots. At first, it was really drying so I used it only at night, but after a month, it got better. I definitely have fewer and smaller breakouts with this! It didn't entirely clear up my skin, but it's definitely improved it. My only concern is how my skin will react long term to the benzoyl peroxide.

I used to adore this stuff. Would make blemishes disappear overnight. The product used to be thinner and dried clear, so I could wear it under my makeup if necessary. Now it is thick and dries to a HORRIBLE consistency--almost like it dries into flakes! I'm so sad it changed. Please bring back the old formula!!!!

Quick Take: gentle formula
I have used this product for over 6 years. It is the only benzoyl peroxide gel I have tried that doesn't upset my sensitive skin, absorbs quickly, and works well. However, Sephora has raised the price of this product from $28 to $34 in under a year's time! I understand needing to raise the price of products, but this is excessive! $6 in under a year?? Come on Sephora. It's bad enough that this product was $21 when I began using it, and there has been a steady increase in price ever since. I will be purchasing this product from a competitor whose price is still $28.

At first I really loved this product, but after a while it started turning my pimples into hard red bumps that take FOREVER to go away. It's almost like it is hardening whatever is inside and then it just sits under my skin. Very annoying.

Quick Take: gentle formula
This product is the best I have ever used! A friend gave me a small sample when I had a terrible blemish. I used a dab with a q-tip on the spot and over night it was significantly smaller and able to be covered up mostly with makeup. After using it on the spot one more time it is completely gone! After my sample was gone, I bought the tube. I normally have a hard time spending the money on beauty products, but this one is absolutely worth it.

Quick Take: mattifying
I've been using this product in combination with a couple of other things to clear up my skin. I recently moved from Austin, TX to NYC (basically from clean air to ultra polluted air) and it's really been taking a toll on my skin. This product did a great job of healing my existing acne quickly. One thing I will say though is that while my acne has gotten better, my blackheads are still there and I feel like I've actually gotten a few more. Could be from something else, but it's been during the use of this product that I noticed it.
In addition to this, I'm also using Murad Post-Acne Spot Treatment (which has been great at making the discoloration from old acne even out and disappear), and I've been putting epsom salt on my face with water and lightly scrubbing. It really helps reduce redness and inflamation!

I have had acne since my teens and have tried so many creams, face washes, etc. I love this product because it not only helps those bigger pimples, but it really help the smaller ones that make your face feel like a mountain range. Though it's not a cheap product, one bottle will last awhile and it will definitely make a big difference.

A little flaky at first use. It was expected though. Nonetheless it works! I tried the murad line and sh** was expensive and didn't work AT ALL. It makes my skin a bit dry during winter so I use moisturizer after and it's perfect! Add a little roc-a retinol cream from the drugstore and blemishes disappear!!! Love love love this product. Been using it for a year now :)

This stuff is great for keeping my skin clear and for an emergency breakout. Just recently I had a massive issue on my chin, after applying this a few times a day it was almost totally cleared up 2 days later.

I began really breaking out in my mid 30s. It took a few years for it to become bad enough where I had to get real with what I was using. I was totally confused as to what was happening to me. I started breaking out behind my ears and at my hairline. The 2% salicylic acid products were not cutting it for me anymore. I decided to try using benzoyl peroxide! I always thought of it as a really harsh and awful medication, but it's been a godsend for me and it does not have to strip your skin if you find a really good moisturizer to use with it. I now use an 8% benzoyl peroxide wash (pan-oxyl a drugstore brand) along with a prescription ketocozanole shampoo from my dermatologist. It cleared me up overnight, literally, and I have not had a single breakout in 8 months.
A little goes a long way with this gel. It does a great job and I will always use it. I've had good experiences with the DDF line so far and will continue to try their products.
If you are experiencing really stubborn acne, do yourself a favor and give the old standby benzoyl peroxide a try!

Quick Take: drying like the desert
This product was apart of mu holy grail arsenal of face cleaning products. I ran out of my last batch and went in to restock. Upon opening and applying it I noticed that the consistenency was thicker and not as light as before. I shrug and applied it...mannn the new formula change no longer sinks in but rather sit on your face and cause a whitish film that is not appealing whatsoever. I gave it 2 weeks but ended up returning it. I tried using less or going about different methods but only ended up with super dry skin and it really didnt help with any small flair ups. I am now on the market to find something else to take its place.

Quick Take: intensive, clarifying
no matter what i use it's always so hard to clear out my black heads. yet this product did it effortlessly. my pores appear smaller since they are so clean now!
for regular pimples it also helps a lot. but im impatient and my skin can dry you easily (sensitive) so it never seems fast enough to me.
