Vincent LongoPearlessence Gel Stains
What it is:A water-resistant, pearlized lip and

companions. They're long-lasting, natural,
pigment-rich explosions of color that perform double
duty as a lip stain and cheek color with a hint of sheen
that beautifully catches the light. Use them to create a
focus while giving lips that dramatic, "just
bitten" appearance and cheeks that "freshly
flushed" look.
I really liked the color (Deoleceacqua) when I tried this on in stores. But after wearing it the color looks very shimmery and not good for everyday wear, but great for the club! When I do wear it during the day I will apply a coat, Let it set and then wipe it off. It leaves a beautiful natural flush look on the lips which lasts almost the whole day! You can then apply a lip moisterizer over to keep your lips moisterized and people will think your lips are just natural that flush red since they only see applying a moisterizer! Another good tip is that this lloks great on the skin and leaves a nice pink shimmery on cheeks, which I like better then on the lip. But, since its soo great on skin you can add fullness to your lips by going a liitle out side the line which looks fabulous!

Quick Take: long lasting
The colours are indeed spot-on and stunning. I got bellini love and it's beautiful. If your lips are dry, then you won't get the best wear out of it and I think that is why they say in the description that it is a good "warm weather" stain. Let's face it, stains are not good for dry lips in general and winter is one of those times.
My lips are also terribly dry at this time of year, and so wearing it over a balm is a must.
As for the pile up pearlescence problem described by many, I don't think this stain is meant to be piled up. If I wear one or two layers over a balm, it is perfect and lasts. If I pile it up then for sure, it's too intense. You have to work with it, so if you like 'playing' with your make-up, you will enjoy using this stain.
Bottom line: this stain is a wonderful tool to work with. You won't necessarily get instant results as with most glosses. But if you like to experiment and blend, then this is a good investment.

Gel Stain Ick- 11.21.08
Quick Take: icky, watery
The Vincent Longo Gel stain was a waste of money. It's very watery, totally inappropriate for lips. It worked ok on cheeks, but be very careful applying it, otherwise you can end up with clown cheeks. It will probably remain in my junk drawer until next Halloween when someone needs some cheap makeup. Sorry. I normally like Vincent Longo products, but this one got a thumbs down.

Too much frost- 11.07.08
Quick Take: non-drying
Looked great as a swatch on my hand. When I got home to try the stain on my lips, there was TOO much "pearlessence". The stains have too much frost.

I LOVE this pearlessent gel! It's the first "stain" I've tried that doesn't dry out my lips. I can put a gloss over it if I want more shine, and it doesn't come off on my straw or coffee cup! Finally....ahhhh!

THIS HAS STAYING POWER LADIES. ITS VERY PRETTY SHIMMER, JUST PUT A CLEAR GLOSS OR LIP BALM OVER IT SO IT DOESNT DRY YOUR LIPS. I PERSONALLY DONT USE IT ON MY CHEEKS. I THINK IT WORKS BETTER ON THE LIPS.

Quick Take: pearl
The descriptor is correct. It is sip-RESISTANT, swim-resistant, and sweat resistant. In other words, it does wear off quicker than I would want in a lip "stain." I do have the Dolceacqua color and really like it. It is highly pearlized. I find that a quick blot reduces the dryness and tackiness. Still looking for the perfect lip stain though.

What I've been looking for!- 10.23.08
I have always hated lip glosses because they are just so sticky! This is my solution because it gives a nice color and glossy look without the stickiness! I wear it over another lip gloss so that it doesn't stain my lips for too long or dry them out.

Pros and Cons- 10.22.08

I love Vincent Longo lip stain. It's one of my favorite beauty items and I keep it in my purse at all times. It's long wearing, very light weight, and it smells nice.
When I saw these new pearlessence stains I couldn't wait to get one. Boy was I dissapointed. The quality was the same as the Vincent Longo lip stain I've been using for years, but the color was way brighter on my lips than it appears in the bottle.
Sadly, I wore this once and now it sits, collecting dust on my vanity. :-(

Beautiful and long lasting- 09.24.08

I love this stain. Its increadible but it really is a long lasting lip and cheek stain that retains a pearlessence gleam. I wear it under clear lip gloss for a lovely berry pink flush or with a colored gloss for a stronger color. I was at a dinner the other day and at the end one of the ladies asked what I had on my lips. She had noticed that everyone else's lip gloss had disappeared but mine stain was still there! So wear it whenever you don't want your lips to appear naked.

Not happy...the color is non-existent compared to the picture (Bellini Love). Very sticky. Maybe it will be good OVER something else to help it stay on.

This color was too light on my lips but I love to wear it on my cheeks! It gives this pretty, pearly, pinky sheen that's just lovely, almost like a blush and highlighter in one. And it really lasts!

It's a Lipstick! It's a Gloss! It's VL Gel Stain!- 09.17.08

Love, love, love this product. It's a cross between a lipstain and a pearl lipstick in a lipgloss application. I bought this in Dolceacqua, which starts out as a pink on me and doesn't reach plum-colored status until about the third coat or so. I must say I have never used this on my cheeks, but I frequently use it on my lips. Great for people that have jobs where they talk or smile a lot. No feathering, no fading, and no lipstick on teeth. It lasts through eating and cocktails; however for all you junk-foodies out there, beware!, your diet of grease causes this stuff to wear off!!! The lipstain/pizza combo is a big no, no. In fact, the only way to remove this stuff is with an oil: try Boscia's or Laura Mercier's make-up removing oil cleansers, and no, they won't make you break out. :)

SInce the Pearlessence formula of gel stains came out I have been using the shade Dolceaqua. I apply this when I am heading to work in the morning at 6am and it is still on until I go to lunch at 1pm every time I wear this product. This is a perfect product for all woman who are on the go, gives a quick application and can be used on both cheeks and lips.
