I am trying this powder as a replacement for Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil. With Mineral Veil, I became oily within an hour of application and I went through it very quickly. I was hesitant to purchase LM's Mineral Finishing Powder because of the cost, but decided to give it a try after seeing all the good reviews. This powder DOES keep my shine to minimum for most of the day, but I still get shiny eventually. I don't being makeup to school/work with my so I don't touch up. When I notice the oil/shine, I use blotting papers. This powder seems to work better than Mineral Veil for shine/oil control.

Nice diffused look...- 03.05.10
Quick Take: diffuse look
I like this powder over Bare Minerals. The #1 does lighten up the color a bit, but in a nice way. I worry a little about the aluminum starch in it... I try to avoid cosmetics with aluminum. I may try to find something else instead of repurchasing.

Quick Take: oil-absorbing, sets makeup flawlessly
I put this on my wishlist for Christmas b/c my BE mineral veil was running low, and the lady who did my makeup for my wedding set my makeup with this Laura Mercier powder. I have been using this for about 3 weeks now, and I am pretty happy with the results. I think it does a pretty darn good job of keeping the shine at bay even after 8 hours of running around at work (and compared to BE's mineral veil, I don't know why I didn't think to switch sooner!!). I have not tried other finishing powders, but all I can say is I'm loving this for now and don't plan on switching soon! Btw, the translucent looks a little yellow-y, but no worries, it is translucent (:

My skin color is hard to mach and most powders made me look ashy. This powder is great and gives a great finishd look. The container is also nice because you can close it off so the powder does not all come out, it's great for travelling.

This stuff does a pretty good job at keeping oil at bay. I find that after 3-4 hours it's no longer working and I have to a reapply. It's pretty typical that I have to reapply but this stuff requires that I reapply less. The coverage is sheer and helps my makeup stay on even better. The container is huge so I can only imagine how long it's going to last. Don't let the 35$ intimidate you for this reason because it's much larger than the BE mineral veil container. I've never really found finishing powders to make a huge difference, but this stuff is worth the price.

I love this powder and I've gone through quite a few. I wear it over my tinted moisturizer or with the LM mineral powder. Sets it but isn't too much. Absorbs oil to make my skin smooth and healthy in the summer. I have normal to oily skin.

I don't like the over made up look so I put this on over my sunscreen (basically, I use it as a faux-foundation). It works well for my needs: reduce shine without looking too powdery, does not look clumpy after a few hours, does not have talc, does not make my skin lighter/ghostly or looking like I am an orange 'oompa-loompa'.

Best loose powder for shine control- 07.20.09

I've tried various types of loose setting powders, and none of them stands up to 95 degrees with 50% humidity as well as this brand. I dust it on in the morning, and I don't even have to touch-up mid-day with pressed powder: it's that good at controlling oil and shine! It has a wonderful texture, provides flawless coverage, and isn't chalky.

This is the 1st poweder that I use which really claims what it does - abosrbs oil,keep shine at bay. The only problem ---it's so fine that it settles into my pores, creating a "pokka dot" look on my nose! How do I resolve this problem?
