Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base SPF 15

Protects skin from the UVA/UVB exposure that can aggravate skin with Rosacea or reactive redness. Does it without chemical sunscreens. Comforting, oil-free makeup primer with a sheer green tint visually corrects redness, evens skintone.

Quick Take: lightweight
I have very red skin and this has helped a little with eliminating it. But for the price I expected a lot more.

Clinique redness solutions base
-05.04.13
Quick Take: lightweight, fast-absorbing
I have used Clinique products for many years, until I developed rosacea about 5 years ago. Since then, I have been going from product to product, looking for something to cover the blotchy redness, and, hopefully to ease the stinging that sometimes accompanies a flare up. This product is fairly soothing, and is that odd green color that helps tone down the redness. It doesn't provide the coverage that I hoped it would, but otherwise is a good solution for me.

Not as red-correcting as I hoped.
-05.01.13
Quick Take: lightweight, fast-absorbing
It helps, but it's nowhere near as powerful as a thick green concealer. I suppose I shouldn't expect much from a primer. It's okay, and I will use it all for sure, but I don't think I will buy again.

Rosacea camouflage
-03.12.13
I really used to love this product, but im pretty sure they changed the formula. When i bought it before it was creamier, more lotion-like, now it is thicker and doesnt blend into the skin so well, but sits on the surface unless you rub and rub, which is the last thing you want to do if your skin is sensitive and red.

Good, but not enough
-01.29.13
Quick Take: evens out skintone, lightweight
Product smells great, rose pedals! Not as much as a primer tho. The green tin only covers the redness but doesn't reduce them. Its a little richer than the drama gel moisturizer, so I use it only to reduce the dryness and for sunblock.

Unique base that doesn't do enough
-01.24.13
Quick Take: lightweight, not enough coverage, oily
Clinique has many excellent products. Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base SPF 15 is not one of them. I bought this base thinking it would cover some of my slight redness, which it did not do. Although this product is oil-free, it can feel oily once on the skin. It blends into the skin easily, and the smell isn't too bad, however, it does not wear well under my makeup. It ends up crumbling, which is too bad. The consistency of the base is fine, it isn't too thick or thin, but it doesn't cover any skin imperfections. I really love the option of buying the small bottle, or the large one. The idea is genius, it just doesn't work for me.

Works great on mild redness!
-01.16.13
Quick Take: evens out skintone, fast-absorbing
I have mild redness around my cheeks and around my nose (especially because the weather is really cold). I have to say this stuff really works! I saw results within a day. I really thought about returning the product because when applied it looks like makeup that hides your imperfections, but when I went to Sephora the lady told me it was skincare. But that's the magic of this product. The green light creamy formula cancels out your redness immediately when applied just like makeup except it is a skincare that improves your redness over time. It hasn't even been a week yet and my redness is about gone. I highly recommend this product. (:

I have dry red skin and im loving this stuff so far, the green tone does a good job of cancelling out my redness but it is not so green that I have to cake on heavy foundation to cover the green, I do moisturize before I use it because im so dry but id say its light enough for combination skin not super heavy or oily at all, it doesnt necessarilly hold my makeup all day but the redness is really reduced :)

I love the way it works with rosacea. I work this with the Redness relief foundation during my days at work and I have never seen my face so clear during the day and after I use the Cleanser at night.

Excellent product
-12.19.12
I have been using this product for a little over two weeks and I am very happy with it. I have seen some redness reduction and overall find that the description is accurate. I have extremely dry skin and it helps set my makeup extremely well. I have found that it works best if I let it sit for at least 15 minutes before applying my makeup.

This SPF also didn't treat my rosacea. It just masked it, barely. The SPF provided only a sheer coverage of my rosacea's redness. Use it sparingly or your face will look pasty from the green tint because a little goes a long way and it doesn't absorb entirely.

No Noticeable Difference
-11.11.12
Quick Take: lightweight
I have redness in my cheeks and all over from acne but I would not suggest this product to treat these kinds of redness issues. It didn't make a noticeable difference even after I used it consistently for three weeks.

another green-tinted primer... meh
-08.03.12
In the summer, especially in heat, my face and parts of my chest (sternum) get awkwardly red, so I went in to sephora to find something to calm it down. I go most days without makeup - I wanted a moisturizer (with SPF) that would take the red away. I like the Clinique brand and the salesperson gave me a sample of this. Really it's just a green-tinted primer, it can take away red but it goes on thick and feels chalky. It wasn't what I was looking for, but I want to try the Korres Greek Yoghurt Cooling gel instead - I think that's the type of product I was looking for!

I wouldn't recommend it
-07.30.12
All of my makeup is Clinique, however, this is one product of their's I would not recommend. I only used it for 2 days but i noticed it made my skin very shiney and it was harder to put foundation over it.

Great but not perfect
-07.25.12
Quick Take: evens out skintone, fast-absorbing
This product works as described! I let this absorb into my skin for a few minutes and was blown away by how it evened my skintone. This product allows me to wear tinted moisturizer or BB Cream without the need to use concealer on top! This is coming from a girl who loves full coverage, so definitely believe me when I say this works.
I am taking off a star for a few reasons though:
- I did break out from using the product alone, so I have to use this on top of moisturizer and primer. Do a test on your skin before using this if you have sensitive skin.
- The scent is really strong and might not be good if you are sensitive to that.
- Applies a bit blotchy at times, but it doesn't negatively affect the outcome for the most part.

This product dried up my skin within a week. It was awful. I have olive skin and this product gave me like an awful pasty color on my face. I returned this product.

Does what it says!
-07.18.12
Quick Take: lightweight, fast-absorbing, cancels out redness, offers non-chemical sun protection, provides a good long-lasting base for makeup
I've been very pleased with this product. It claims to protect skin from UVA/UVB exposure, be gentle, and visually correct redness, and it does all of this. This will not treat redness (and it doesn't claim it will), but it will help off-set any redness on the skin. The green tint does not leave a noticeable cast (you could wear this on its own if you wanted, although I think it would make you look sallow without adding foundation or tinted powder on top, or at least concealer to re-correct areas with darkness like under your eyes), but definitely helps make redness less prominent and keeps it from showing through brightly underneath foundation, powder, and other makeup. I can get away without concealer for my redness with this product and some light-to-medium coverage foundation.
I've also found it helps extend the wear time of the makeup I wear on top of this, so it can be used as a primer/base without the need for another, second product on top. I've used MUFE's green-tinted primer before, and I think I may prefer this very slightly. They both extend wear time of makeup, but this green tint is much paler, so I don't have to be as careful applying it, and it has a more lotion-like, moisturizing texture, which is well-suited to my dry skin (although it's not heavy enough that those with normal or combo skin would have to worry; I still use a moisturizer under this). The fact that this doesn't have any chemical sunscreens in it is great for those with sensitive skin (like lots of us suffering from redness!), and for those concerned about the ill-effects of chemical sunscreens. However, it does lighten skin very slightly because of the physical barriers, another reason why I think this works best with foundation or a tinted powder on top, and not just on its own.
