Quick Take: volumizing, defining, non-clumping, easy to remove
I wasn't wowed initially by this product, but then I realized that it was exactly what I wanted. It coats my long lashes without clumping, and adds depth at the base of lashes. It also adds definition to the ends of my lashes, without making them look weird and spider-like.
If my lashes were shorter, I would probably prefer one of those mascaras that adds length. But I like this one precisely because it doesn't add much length.
This mascara is also water-resistant, not waterproof, so it's easy to remove with a facial wash. However, it doesn't flake or rub off during the day.

Quick Take: not lengthening at all
I have been searching the world far and wide for a great lenghtening mascara. The store associated suggested this one and I tried it. I was sadly disappointed because it did absolutely NOTHING for my lashes. Needless to say, it will be returned today!!

Didn't really like this one, found it to be kind of greasy and then later it would flake off. The color also just isn't for me..kind of a charcoal brown. The brush is also too skinny.

I have average length, thin, straight lashes that aren't very dark. So I always look for a mascara that holds a curl, is deep black and makes my lashes look full and fluttery.
This holds a curl somewhat. It volumizes, but it takes me 3 coats to get the look I want. At that point the product starts to not distribute evenly on my lashes and looks clumpy. The color isn't a deep black, it has a gray-ish tint to it. I also found that it was hard to get the outer lashes using this brush.
On the up side, this did not really flake or smudge. It also keeps your lashes separated instead of clumping them together. It's also good in the lengthening department.
All in all, this isn't for me.

I nearly collapsed in tears at Sephora today when I couldn't find Superficial Lash. I thought it had been discontinued and replaced by the goopier, messier, and less reliable Film Noir. But, no, it had just been moved to the bottom of the display. Shame!
This is the BEST mascara. Ever. I have really long lashes (pity me, I know) and ever mascara gets all over my face. or if they don't, it's some waterproof junk that bonds to my lashes like cement and never comes off.
Superficial lash is perfect. It doesn't get all over my face, comes off easily when I wash my face, and makes my lashes look fabulous, but not like I'm Tammy Faye Bakker.
Love this stuff. Seriously. Buy it! If Hourglass ever discontinues this product, no mascara in the world will withstand my tears...

I have loved many mascaras throughout the years. Now I am in my 60s, my lashes have thinned considerably and this one catches each one and makes it look the best each lash can. I am ordering another tube. That is how much I like it and I have tried so many since getting older. Best by far.

I love the brush on this it is super fine and it gets into all the tiny lashes. This doesn't clump or smear and it wears so well. I wish it came in brown tone too.

Unfortunately for me, this mascara was a no-go. It was extremely dry and clumpy, making it very difficult to apply properly and it make my lashes look chunky and horrible. For the price, I expected a lot more.

I've tried many mascaras that say they are lengthening or volumizing and seen no difference.. not the case with this product. I really couldn't believe how much longer my lashes looked (and I already have long lashes!).
I originally was going to purchase Film Noir because I had a makeover with it and loved the results. But I went into the store and tried one on each eye and Superficial Lash won hands down. There was less clumping, and more length and volume.
My favorite thing about this product is that it does all of that AND it doesn't feel like you're wearing mascara at all! Some brands (including Flim Noir) make your lashes feel heavy almost, but I would almost call Superficial Lash conditioning. My lashes feel soft and light.

I LOVE this mascara and I can't recommend anything better if you have eyes like mine. I tend to have the oilier skin and face shape where eye makeup usually has a hard time staying on. I've tried everything from cheap to expensive and this has been the only mascara to really stay on my lashes and not rub off on my face. The brush is perfect to coat all my lashes top and bottom and the formula is just right. Not too thick and not too thin. It's not labelled as waterproof but it definitely is water resistant. I NEVER get mascara marks under my eyes anymore and the formula is very easily washed off with just water.
This mascara gives me good volume and length and is easy to apply to look natural and not scary clumpy.

I was never able to tolerate mascara until I was introduced to Hourglass. Discovered it 2 years ago. I order 2 tubes a year and whenever I am in Sephora I pick one up. It lasts about 4-6 months.
