Amazing!

I love this brush! It might shed, but is doesn't make a difference. Once you wash it a couple of times it'll stop. It's worth every penny!

Shedding won't stop
-10.24.12
That brush left 20 to 30 bristles on my face and neck everyday. And the black hairs are obvious on my skin!

Perfect finish brush
-08.05.12
Quick Take: natural hair, practical to use
This brush is very big, it help to blend your make up perfectly. I had try the HOURGLASS finish brush but I think NARS one is much better = )

The Best Blending Brush on the Market
-02.09.12
The best thing about this brush is how it blends my mineral makeup. After I apply my foundation, bronzer, blush and highlighting powder I go over everything with the Botan Brush and it all just sort of morphs into perfect, natural looking coverage. It is like magic! I am 61 and without using the Botan Brush my makeup settles in some of my fine lines and larger pores near my nose - with the Botan Brush everything is completely smooth, even and flawless looking. I will not be without this brush - it is a must have! Worth every penny!

Amazing brush! Worth the price!
-11.27.11
Quick Take: soft bristles, natural hair
I didn't find too much info on the care of the Botan, so i decided to share my experience with anyone who wants to know more about the care of this brush:
After purchasing, I washed it first like I do all my brushes. I've read reviews about how it sheds and bleeds alot during that initial wash. The color bled, but i had minimum shedding. I was very happy about that!
I didn't find alot of info about how to wash Botan, so I'll share my experiences.
First thing, very, very, important: save the plastic tube Botan is packaged in. Its a very heavy plastic tube that is perfect for keeping Botan's shape in between washes and uses. Its also perfect for storing and traveling with Botan (if you choose too, its HUGE!) I dried Botan over night and its 95% dry. Since it was more dry than wet, I slipped it back into the tube for additional drying and shaping.
I washed it with a small drop of shampoo and warm water. In steps I added water to the shampoo as I did not want to douse it with water. I rubbed the shampoo through until the brush was saturated. The shampoo turned burgundy while I was doing this. Its normal.
Then I rinsed with warm water and rubbed the remaining shampoo through, still burgundy. Rinsed again with cold water, as cold water releases soap from hair and fur better than hot or warm water. I did this until the water ran clear. check to make sure all the suds are out. the water may run clear, but some suds may still be in there.
Next, I shook and squeezed the brush dry, with my hand and then with paper towel. I repeated this step until the loose water was out of it. get as much water out as you can to cut down on drying time. some people says it takes 2-3 days, I didn't see that with the way I hand dried it.
Lastly, I propped the brush bristle down next to my makeup organizer on top of paper towels, allowing the water to drain, over night. This morning, i checked for wetness and since it seemed mostly dry, I put the plastic tube back over it and propped it back up over paper towel.
This process really worked for me and I hope this helps anyone who decides to purchase Botan! I love this brush! I really changed my makeup game. Everything looks so flawless when I use it... no lines of demarcation! My face makeup just flows together!!! This brush is also easy to use. Its big, but not cumbersome.

Great splurge
-09.21.11
Quick Take: natural hair, firm
Despite what some of the other reviews say, my botan doesn't shed much at all. Maybe one hair every other time I use it. While no one probably needs a $75 brush, I splurged since I only use powder makeup - Bare Minerals foundation and Nars Laguna bronzer. This brush does a great job of blending the two together.

Perfect brush for those without sensitive skin
-06.13.11
Quick Take: natural hair
The purpose of this brush is to evenly distribute powder to the face, and make the powder blend into the skin so that it doesn't look like you are wearing a layer of powder over your face. This brush accomplishes both of these things well, however, in the process it completely tore up my face, leaving it red and irritated all over. Those with sensitive skin should pass on this, as the bristles are not soft at all. It is however, a beautiful brush which serves its purpose.

Great brush but sheds =/
-03.17.11
Quick Take: natural hair
This brush is amazing for buffing out harsh lines and colors that were applied to heavily, but it sheds like crazy and bleeds black ink when you wash it. If it wasn't for those 2 flaws i'd give it 5 stars but it does an amazing job though..

HUGE. AMAZING. BRUSH.
-03.10.11
This thing is MASSIVE. Like huge. Compared to the Bare Minerals Kabuki brush, this is probably 3 times the size. It is a very dense brush, and the first time you wash it, tons of hair come out. I'm talking 100-200. But when comparing it to the amount of brushes in the brush, it isn't that big of a deal. And those hairs aren't worthy of staying anyways. And also you when you wash it for the first time (right after you buy it) the water will be a dark reddish purple black color. That goes away soon. After washing the brush does get softer. KEEP THE PLASTIC HOLDER, so after washing you can place it back in there to dry and keep its shape. It is the perfect brush to apply bronzer or powder to the chest and neck. I love it. Love love love it.

in my opinion NO brush should cost over $50, especially not a kabuki brush. NARS, this price is absolutely ridiculous, but i love every other NARS product and was sure i'd love this one too, so i purchased it. It's a good brush i'll admit, but it often sheds. So is it worth $75 to get a brush that sheds everywhere? i personally don't think so. i returned it, there are other kabuki brushes that work well for less then half of this.

wow
-08.06.10
Quick Take: natural hair, large
This brush is larger than I thought it would be, the base fits the palm of the hand - also the bristles are a bit more rough than I would like - however, it's a dream to apply/stipple in loose powder or do face blending with - the large surface, short dense bristles make short work of either.

Too big 4 face, great 4 chest
-07.05.10
Quick Take: natural hair
This brush is way too big for my face, but it's awesome for applying mineral foundation to the neck and chest. Too many women stop their makeup application at the jawline. But using the Botan to quickly dust it onto the neck and chest is a great way to enhance and protect those delicate areas.
Shockingly expensive, but it'll be with me for years so I paid the price.
