I love the colors and the brush that comes with it. It took me a little practice to do the eye liner, but I love this kit. Great for a sexy, smokey eye look
I love using this when I want to achieve a dramatic smokey look! The colors are highly pigmented and stay on all day! I would definitely recommend this set.
I love everything about this kit. The tutorial is very easy to follow and looks great on. I would pay the price for the brush alone. It's worth every penny!
Quick Take: fun, easy to use, glamorous, looks fabulous with green eyes
My husband likes darker eye shadows and he convinced me to try this. Not usually my look, but I love it! I'm not the most gifted makeup artist either, but I've worn the shadows a few times now and have been following the instructions and my eyes look great! I have even received compliments while out and about. The instructions are easy to use, which is really helpful. The brush is just right for the look, and helps with correct application. I am a big BE fan and the eye shadows do not disappoint. Very glam and fun. The shadow pots are small, but a little shadow goes a very long way so even if you wear it frequently, you should not run out too quickly. I do have one caution for you - the darkest black has a very loose texture and in addition to going where you want it, easily lands other places. It's also persistent, and does not rub off easily. So, while it looks great lining your eye, it will get on other parts of your face, your hands, and your counter top. Easy to clean up with a little soap, but it's a pain if some of it dusts on your face *after* you've applied foundation, etc and have to try and rub it off. So, just be cautious as you apply it. Definitely not a show stopper, just know it's persistent. I would highly recommend this product overall. Hope this helps!
Quick Take: good value, portable, good instructions
I have never tried the dark eye makeup look but always wondered if it would look good with my dark eyes. I purchased this product because it came with very detailed instructions and was fairly affordable. I love the way it looks with my eyes. It's a bit bold and takes some getting used to but looks good. The product if very messy if your not careful to get excess off the brush (more than once I've got the dark eyeliner color under my eye too far and it needed to be washed off). The cases are small but because it takes only a little bit to go a long way, its good. Other than that, I love it. The applicator brush it comes with works great. The instructions are helpful...So yeah, good stuff.
I love it! I'm still a newbie with mineral makeup, so don't get discouraged if your makeup doesn't come out quite like the pictures. I highly recommend keeping tissues or q-tips with strong eye makeup remover near you, because you will need a few minutes to clean up any loose powder that gets on your face. Use with an intense mascara (I use Smashbox DNA). Oh! And the brush is fantastic.
I purchased this set and have attempted to create the whole smoky, 'rocker' eye look with it several times (not something I am unfamiliar with on a normal basis) and it's just not working out for me. The shadows are exceedingly messy to work with (although they did stay put through a trip to the gym and a 3.5 miles walk/run) but they do blend well. It did take several 'layers' of the base color to build up enough of a base to off-set the black (which went on SUPER pigmented and really smoothly, but all over the place.) The brush is this kits only saving grace. It is AMAZING. I LOVE the smudgy end for the actual appplication process, and the pointed end gives wonderful control for lid shading and under eye lining. All in all, I would have to say it was a learning experience. And one I will likely not be repeating any time soon.
I simply love love love the colors in this kit, and the brush is fantastic. Again, not a big fan of just written instructions on how to do the technique, but what can you do?
i don't know how i lived without this stuff before. in the kit, it gives you easy directions how to apply, which i was very happy about. and then at first i was nervous because it's very sparkly, but when i finished, it looked amazing. and me being into tattoo and what not, i thought it went well with my leather jacket. :)
This really is an awesome kit. I already knew how to achieve this look with both eyeliner and eyeshadow however this gives you some added tips and the brush it comes with is awesome. These are the perfect colors for my eyecolor (hazel) which ended up just being a fluke. You cannot beat the price on these kits. I had never used BareMinerals eyeshadow prior to buying this kit and it is awesome. Now, virtually everything I wear on my face is made by them.
Great for a night out- It has that edgy, smoky look that is fun for late nights. I was afraid that it would be too glittery, but it has a perfect amount for a real rocker look!
Amazing kit, you just gotta learn how to use.- 02.14.10
Quick Take: good value
This amazing kit comes with to eyeshadows, a liner shadow and a duo sided brush. These shadows come in a pigment form, or powder form. Just make sure you store them in an area where they will not get bumped around to much, otherwise when you open them they might spill. The silver is a mix of metallic pretty and matte gray edge. The black is dark and true with hints of silver glitter. The liner color is like pitch, a beautiful rocker color. The duo ended brush comes with a flat shader brush, perfect for applying a wash of color on the lids, or swiping in the crease. The liner brush is great for adding a bit of definition to your eyes. This kit is great, perfect for starters, or that rocker chic girl.
I just LOVE this kit! It is easy to use, and although the containers look small, a little goes a long way, I am almost going to have two years with it and I still have a long way to go. The only thing is you have to be careful with getting it on your fingers and then touching or accidently rubbing it on somewhere on your face, CAUTION: it can get really messy.
So, I usually use Chanel eye makeup to get my dark smoky eye, but I thought I would give this a try, it being a tutorial and all. But it is sooo messy! The first time I used it, I already had my foundation on and everything, and I ended up with so much black powder on my face that I had to redo all my other makeup, my eyes looked good though! But wow, it is difficult to get this stuff off! The second time, i did my eyes first then washed my face afterwards and put on the rest of my makeup. I liked how it looked, but it's messy and very difficult to remove, it just smears.
