Quick Take: messy
I am a bare Escentual user..and I have wanted to try this for a long time now, after I finally purchased it, I found it disappointing. First the colors are not as shimmery as it shows on the pictures. Then it is kinda messy, the powder drops to my face and gets on my fingers...then when I apply the eye shadows, the powder on my fingers will get on my face again...and it is really annoying. I gave it two tries and haven't touched it since...I am sticking with my good ole eyeliner.
I absolutely love this kit! It finally allowed me to achieve the perfect smokey eye without looking too harsh as can sometimes happen with lighter colored eyes. The color combination makes my blue-gray eyes pop! I have gotten endless compliments, including from my husband who never notices my makeup! I soften the look for daytime by not wearing the Rockstar glitter color. This kit is a great value and the brush is fabulous! A must have for this BE addict!
I've never used powdered eye liner before, but after mixing a little water with it, it wasn't bad, was much easier to deal with than a liquid liner. Will probably try some of the fixative later to see how that works with it. Great stuff.
I love this set! And the brush kicks butt too!!! I only wish these colors were available permanently for the larger size!!! Makes a beautiful night out eye look!
I highly recommend this set--it will make all eye colors pop!. Beautiful colors you'll want to wear alone and together. This makes creating the perfect dramatic rocker eye effortless. (Easy instructions) Bonus: another fab brush from B.E.
I love this kit. The look you get from the kit is bold and sexy and I do really like the brush that came with it. I think it does take a bit of practice to get this look down and BE's tutorial could be improved. I was also suprised at how little the e/s pots were and how little product there was. A little disappointing, but the final results are great.
I like this set a lot, but the learning curve was a bit more than usual for simple powder application...
Here are some things that will help if you're having trouble: 1) Use Prime Time! Trust me. It'll stick longer! 2) Don't apply dry. Add water (foil) with this kit, or the glitter will go everywhere, and won't stick if you don't soften the minerals with moisture! 3) While applying, hold a piece of toilet paper or cotton square beneath the eye you are working on. This should keep any loose glitter from falling on your lower lid and cheeks. 4) Keep still and let it dry before moving on! 5) Touch up any mistakes with some makeup remover on a cotton ball. Your finger and water will only make a mess or push the glitter elsewhere!
Hope this helps! With a little extra care than usual, this kit really does a great glam rocker look!
(But come on, BE; your included "Tutorial" was weak.)
I love Bare Escentuals products, but this definitely did not seem worth the money to me. The directions to apply the "rocker eye" were not very helpful at all. I endedup basically just looking at the picture and trying to go from that. The powder shadows and liners look great, but do not apply well at all. Normally with Bare Escentuals powders and liners, I like to add a small amount of water for a darker and longer lasting liner on the eye. Because of all the glitter in these powders, the liner did not stay well at all. I ended up having loose pwder on my cheeks and face. i really looked like a mess. Maybe I need some practice with this one, but I haven't used it since my first attempt. Good luck!
Quick Take: good value, portable, great for a night out, another hit from leslie, double ended brush
Foliing is a technique that Leslie (CEO of Bare Escentuals) often speaks about. I have never really understood or correctly foiled before getting this kit. It is a great value! This kit shows 3 different ways to apply the 2 colors in this kit. I do however, recommend using a black liner when "foiling" I like the Buxom Lashliner in Sequins. It is a great gel liner that works well with the foiling technique as you use water and the eye color needs time to "dry" on your lid before applying another color.
I am really starting to like the mini jars of eye color! I have applied this as recommended on the tutorial and it is really easy. I would recommend however, using a white eye shadow on the inner corner of your eyes to brighten them up. You will also need a blending brush while applying this kit. I really love it and its pretty for almost everything when applied for the correct occasion.
I love the silver, but the glitter gets everywhere and makes my skin look dirty...The liner also flakes off and I have raccoon eyes even when used wet...I love the brush though..
Love this look. You can play down this look enough for daytime or ramped it up all the way for evening. Colors stayed put all day and night. Even the shimmery shawdow was non irritating to my sensitive skin. Love the Bare Escentuals Line.
I stood in the store over an hour and debated this. It was a lot of money for three small pots, more than I'd ever spent on eyeshadow before.... But I'm so glad I did. I love the look, it's versatile enough to get several levels of effect, and it's what pushed me over the edge into a full Bare Escentuals girl. The brush is great, too!
These colors do NOT translate on your eyese, as they do in the tutorial pictures. I would say I am an expert at eyeshadow and bought this to create a "look" and was sadly disappointed.
In addition, the loose powder nature of this product is atrocious. I have used a lot of loose powder eyeshadow in my time and never has it gotten everywhere as this did-even when wet! I spent more time cleaning up the rest of my face than all of the rest of my time getting ready.
