nice but too expensivw

I love all the Hourglass products I've tried. Eventhough I liked this product well enough, I came to the realization that the other product I use for self tanning costs a fraction of the price of this Hourglass product, and works just as well. I don't need my primer to be a self tanner. I have the other Hourglass primer, and will continue to use it, but this one went back.

Great tan! Don't use the Pumper!
-04.28.13
Great tan!! I used just one day- actually applied by unscrewing the whole top and taking the tube stick out and putting a little on my fingers instead of pumping it out- and got a GREAT result! Today however, I used the pumping mechanism, and it came out like water! :( I will continue using the other way- but I wish the pump worked!

Solar Tan Self Tanning Primer
-04.27.13
Quick Take: horrible
I usually use the Hourglass primer and LOVE IT. I saw the Solar Tan primer and had to buy it. I used this for two weeks religiously, it didn't give my skin any color whatsoever, not even a bit. Then I started using it twice a day and still NOTHING. Not only that, but i broke out like crazy, my pores were so clogged, I had blackheads everywhere.I'm assuming this is not oil free like the primer. This is not for acne prone skin, and I don't even have acne prone skin and i still broke out. This stuff does not give any radiant bronze glow as it states. I'm very disappointed and would not recommend this to anyone. It is a good primer, minus the breakouts and clogged pores.

Perfection
-01.08.13
This product is my HG!! Especially in the winter. I purchased this product based on the good reviews and and have been extremely satisfied with it. It's perfect for a warm touch of color, it doesnt stink, it makes your makeup glide on smooth, and the color that develops is so natural. I am asian with an olive yellow skin tone (I use golden medium Bare Minerals) and it just enhances my glow like no other! Also. no breakouts so far. Yes!!

Not tan, just orange. Lasted for several days. I love the hourglass mineral primer and I will stick with it.

Interesting Results
-12.05.12
Quick Take: lightweight, evens out skintone, fast-absorbing, separating
I'll start off by describing what happened... then I promise I will explain why it happened and what I plan to do the next time to prevent the issue from happening again.
The first time I used this product it really tanned my face well. After a months worth of useage I noticed that it didn't tan quite so well. I got down to about the last 1/3 of the bottle and it wouldn't even pump the product up the tube, so I added distilled water to it and was able to use just about all of the product, but again it wasn't tanning very well and I will explain to you why.
The ingredient used to tan your face is a white powder that is dissolved in water. This water/tanner mixture is added to whatever base they are using for priming purposes and this works pretty well actually.
What happened to me is this... The water/tanner had settled to the bottom of the bottle which left the silicon (or whatever) at the top of the bottle unsaturated. To my naked eye I couldn't tell that this was happening so it never occurred to me that the product would get to a point of indispenability, but it did.
I am going to buy another bottle and I am going to store it lying on it's side so the water will evenly distribute through the top and bottom of the bottle. Then I plan to shake it every day.
I'll let you know how the experiment turns out.

amazing primer
-11.22.12
Hourglass was recommended by a Sephora salesperson a few years ago and it's been the best foundation I've tried. The Veil primer was great, and now this self-tanning primer is the best. Tip: It is recommended to apply the foundation with a brush, and it definitely makes a difference compared to a sponge or fingertips...

I have used Hourglass self-tanning primer now for a couple of months and really like how it preps my skin for makeup but even more how I have a glow of a tan throughout the day.

Not what it used to be
-12.15.11
I have been using this primer (a few bottles of it) since it came on the market. At first, the product tanned my face noticably (just enough) on one use. Also, the consistency was fine. But my last bottle's contents broke up into what looked like chunks of soft gelatin - and I had to scoop it out with the pump straw and dab it onto my fingers. I figured it was just that bottle. Today, however, I opened a brand new bottle and already saw the chunks. I tried shaking it, and when I pumped the product out, it came out thin and oily feeling. Obviously already separating. The smell is stronger now than in the past. Returning tomorrow.

really i love this product. this is the 4th or 5th time i have purchased it. however this is the second time that the product clumped together and all the tanning agent seemed to dissolve. luckily sephora is very good about returns and exchanges.

Great for the Winter
-12.04.11
Quick Take: lightweight, evens out skintone
This is the best self tanner because it does not make my skin break out. It is very subtle just to take away the paleness specially in Winter and still look natural. I use it as a primer and then just use concealer on top in specific areas that need more coverage

Would give 5 stars, BUT
-10.05.11
Quick Take: lightweight
I love this product. It does give me a nice looking tan and makes my concealer stay on, even in humid weather. BUT, I was only half way through the bottle and it started to congeal in the tube and wouldn't come up through the pump. I did reorder another bottle and am really hoping it doesn't happen again. If so, I won't reorder.

love!
-07.13.11
Quick Take: lightweight, evens out skintone
Love this product. I have oily skin and this provides a light base and doesn't make my skin look greasy or too dark. It's just right! Definitely worth the price. The only downside is that it gets a little separated sometimes and you have to shake it up a bit but other than that its a great product.

Good product
-05.09.11
Quick Take: lightweight
This primer does what it says. I have very fair skin. My only caution with this product is to use sparingly. I guess I used too much the first time and it did make me a little too dark. Now I use every other day and you only need a small amount. Give a nice "just in the sun" look.

This stuff rocks..a worthwhile investment.
-05.03.11
Quick Take: evens out skintone, lightweight, fast-absorbing, blends out sunglass lines on face
Think of how annoying it is to have to apply a separate primer (at about $45-55 for a good one) and then at least another $20-25 for a great facial self tanner that doesn't reek! Well you are done with that now...move onto Hourglass Self-Tanning Primer. This is like my right hand come Spring/Summer. I'm already quite tan but it really helps to blend "sunglass lines",etc. Feels a little oily upon initial application but that helps it spread and a little goes a long way here! One word of wisdom...wash hands & nails after using..once it blooms you're left with "tan" fingertips! Otherwise...can't go wrong with this!

Disguise for Pasty Skin
-04.30.11
I am Nicole Kidman (without makeup) fair. While I like my pale skin, it can use some warmth to keep me from looking deathly white. Bronzers can be tricky -- the color can be off, they can be too sparkly, etc. This self-tanning primer delivered believable color after the first application, and the glycerin and vitamins enables it to glide over rough patches for an even finish. My skin looked like me, only enhanced.
Having raved, there are two qualifiers: I wonder if someone without porcelain skin would receive any color benefits (but those women have lots of other choices for self-tanners) because the effect even on my pale skin is subtle. I also didn't think that this was a particularly effective primer. The formula was great for a smooth application of the self-tanner, but I wouldn't consider this product a primer.
