Quick Take: oil-free, matte, light-weight
I was super excited about buying this because I watched a YouTube video Sephora posted using this foundation. The first two times I put it on, I really liked it. I love that it comes with a brush. The 3rd time, I noticed that not only could you not tell I had on makeup, but it seriously looked like I didn't have anything on...to the point that I noticed it didn't cover any of my blemishes and I still had my normal uneven tone. I had taken pics of myself the first two times I wore it and realized it didn't cover anything either. I think I initially really liked it because it was a new purchase for me and my first mineral foundation. I ended up returning it because it did absolutely nothing to make my skin look better. I also didn't find it to be buildable coverage. The one thing it did do for me was make my skin feel soft while I had it on.

I have used this product exclusively for at least 3 years. I love the fiinish and the staying power. I NEVER have to
touch up during the day. My only complaint is that to match MY skintone, I have to mix light ad fair on my brush. Of course, that means purchasing two different colors. $$$ It also means that I don't have to buy as often.
This time, I decided to TRY light/medium instead. I found it to be too dark on my light, pink-toned skin..I am keeping it for summer use, but I think Smashbx needs to add a shade between fair and light..

Thus powder works great with my super dry skin. It leaves it hydrated, and I don't need to touch up during the day. it's a bit pricey, but well worth it.

Great powder! Feels good on and doesn't make pores look worse. I'm very pleased with this purchase. Since I just switched to the 45 age range I'm glad to find a product that does what it claims in regards to no accentuating signs of aging.

I love this powder. This is my second order. It goes on nicely and has very nice coverage. Many days I don't even need foundation, I just use this powder with a little blush.

would give it 5 stars of it were all natural and organic. I have to buy the light and fair to mix for my correct shade. this powder great though.

I've been using bare minerals for years (golden medium). The bare minerals color is a bit too light for me, so I end up having to use a little bronzer on top to match my skin tone. I decided to try smashbox halo. The salesperson recommended light/medium. Here are my comments...
1. Color is a bit too dark. To adjust for this, I apply smashbox foundation first. Then, I do I final sweep with the bare minerals (which is a little too light). That seems to do the trick.
2. Love the packaging. It's not as messy as bare minerals since you "shave" a little powder at a time.
3. Container is bigger than bare minerals, so will take up a lot more space in your bag if u travel with it.
4. I wouldnt bother using the little kabuki brush that it comes with. You need to use a real brush. Smashbox should stop including the brush and just take a few bucks off the price.
5. Coverage is lighter than bare minerals, so you need to put more of it on (assuming you tend to need more coverage like me).
6. Coverage is more natural looking than bare minerals. Bare minerals tends to make ur skin look really dry when u first put it on. Takes a few hours for it to settle into ur skin. Smashbox looks more natural right away. Doesn't really look like u have much make up on.
Overall, I like it. Just wish the color was a better match. I bought smashbox CC cream as well (in light/medium) and that matches my skin perfectly. Btw, I'm Asian with light to medium yellow-based skin tone. I have pretty oily, uneven skin (dark spots and some acne).

This is the only powder I use. It is well worth the cost. It may actually cost less because it lasts sooo long. I love that you get a fresh portion with every use. It's light & airy but covers imperfections. On weekends I put a little concealer around my eyes & my Halo & I'm good to go. But on stage or TV with full make up, it's a wooonderful finishing powder. Tip: As a woman of color I did have to try a few shades and actually needed a much lighter shade than I normally would. The search is over - Love it!

Great Finishing Powder

This is such a great powder, just the right amount of coverage without looking over made. Only issue I had was I bought it and got home and couldn't figure out how to get more powder out of it. I was afraid I would break it if I fiddled on my own. So I finally went back to the store and the girl told me to turn the inner piece clockwise and it grates out just a little at a time. Great for travel because it will not fall out and make a mess like other loose powders do.

I love love love this powder. I think it does wonders for the skin. Although the coverage is sheer, it was great to use during the summer and over BB cream or foundation. It's awesome to use by itself as well.
I just wish there were more colors.

Been using Halo for about 3 years. Don't even know I have it on, and it gets better as the day goes on. Never have to touch up. Will not wear anything else. Going to try the blush next.

This powder is perfect for makeup divas and every one-in-a-while artists. Super blendable; it covers well but doesn't look heavy or cakey. Since there is a built in shaver you only grind as much powder as you need, no trying to put it back in the container or throwing away.

I use this as my foundation and absolutely love it. I used Bareminerals for years before discovering this and HALO is even better. I would not want to be without it. I use a primer and coverage lasts all day. Provides a great natural appearance that looks like your skin but better. Highly recommend.

Quick Take: light-weight
I usually buy the bare minerals foundation in mineral beige but an in-store representative convinced me to try this smashbox mineral powder. I was not as happy with the coverage (or the price) compared to bare minerals. It does not provide buildable coverage to stand as a foundation alone. But it is nice to use as a finishing powder on days I wear heavier liquid makeup. If you're skin is already flawless than this is a good product for you to use over a moisturizer or primer.
