Smoked Out Effect
-04.19.12
Quick Take: waterproof, long wearing, smudgable
If you are looking for a pitch black pigment, this will not give it to you like a gel liner or pigmented pencil, such as Urban Decay. This will provide a smoky gray effect and is quite pretty if that is what you are looking for. I smudge this on my lower lash line for a more relaxed look than stark black eyeliner and think the effect is really nice.

Easy to apply, good color

I like this better than the tightline cake liner because the color is darker and you don't need water to apply.

Just OK
-02.02.12
Quick Take: smudgable
I bought this eyeliner because I really do like the Laura Mercier Caviar Eye shadow sticks. I have two and love how they last all day, don't crease and stay vibrant. Unfortunately the eye liner doesn't seem to have those qualities. It's not terrible, but by the end of the day, it is gone from the inner corners. It just doesn't seem to wear very well. It seems that any liner that needs water to activate it, like this one, doesn't have good staying power. The gel types seem to hold up better.

Versatile semi-creme eyeliner
-01.26.12
Quick Take: easy to apply
I got this in Chestnut - it's a lot darker than I wanted but it was the closest to the color I had in mind - they were out of several hues. I love how easy this is to apply with a good eyeliner brush but it doesn't last the day which is very disappointing. Perhaps it's because I wear contact lenses. No matter, I don't want to have to re-apply. Still, I vastly prefer this and will never return to pencil eyeliner. Just wish it was longer lasting.

Had been having issues with eyeliner bleeding and "gunking" in more inner corner of eye. I use this for eyeliner and on the inner eye waterline and it stays put I don't have to use anymore Q-tips mid day to clean up my eyes!

Best non-black eyeliner I've used.
-12.21.11
Quick Take: long wearing
The liner color really allows my natural eye color to pop. It goes on very well, w/ the recommended Laura Mercier pointy tip brush. You can put it on dry or w/ the brush slightly damp. I prefer dry. It lasts all day, and some of my days are 24 hrs.

Wonderful liner, if you're careful
-07.27.11
Quick Take: long wearing, smudgable
I love this liner. It smudges wonderfully when used dry or wet, and stays on fantastically. As someone who is allergic to the majority of the things they put into waterproof eye makeup, this product is the closest I can get to stay all day with my watery eyes.
My only word of warning would be to watch how much water you use with it. I made the mistake of using a much to wet brush, and it made it difficult to use as a dry product. I found I always used it wet. Still, wonderful consistency, easy to use, mega staying power.

Wow - this is even better than I expected - I bought this in the color "Midnite" which is a really dark navy blue - I put a little water on the brush and dip it in the liner- it goes on very smoothly and it stays on all day - I applied this with a bent eyeliner brush - You don't need much product - It will last a long time - Love it!

Easy & Great!
-06.13.11
Quick Take: smudgable, waterproof, long wearing
You should use the caviar eye liner with the Laura Mercier Tightline Activator: http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P285324&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5809
What you do is put 2-3 drops of this activator fluid (that looks like water) on the top of your hand. Then you take your flat line brush and soak the brush bristles in the activator. Then you put your brush in the eye liner to make a paste. When you do it this way, it is actually hard to get the eyeliner off - ie: no smudging or streaking! I put some of this on my hand, and when it dried, I noticed that I couldn't get it off my hand without using eyemakep remover, which is great! I thought it was very easy to use and made a nice line that you can build on. I bought the chestnut color which is nice for my pale skin and blue eyes. I really like this.

MIDNIGHT - MULTIPURPOSE LINER AND SHADOW
-05.26.11
Quick Take: smudgable, long wearing, versatile, beautiful
Larua Mercier's Caviar Eye Liner is so excellent. I've used loose kohl before, but I'm not a fan of loose products. I've used lots of kohl pencils before, too, but I was going for a certain look I couldn't seem to get from a pencil. I needed something else.
I recently used a couple of black kohl liners, with varied results. While I love kohl in general, the first kohl liner came in a palette of five black liners, and was harsh looking and dreary. The second, tried at the insistence of a beauty consultant in a department store, looked gorgeous on, but immediately smeared all the way down to the tops of my cheekbones. The thing is, the look the consultant created in the store was very glamorous, had it worked out, but I kept thinking "If only it was in navy" and, of course, if only it hadn't smeared.
Having tried all my black and navy liners kohl or otherwise, in my quest to create that look, I just couldn't get it. It was dramatic and glamorous, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get close. Then I tried Laura Mercier's Caviar Eye Liner in Midnight, which is a dark navy. First of all, the color is dark, but not as harsh and austere as black. Black liner sometimes has a tendency to age a face, and I was trying to do the opposite. Navy has a tendency to make the whites of eyes look lighter, and in the process, takes a few years off the wearer's eyes, plus navy seems not to overpower my dark brown eyes. From a distance, dark brown eyes, long black lashes, and black kohl liner can just look like a big black blob, especially contrasted against pale skin. The navy liner is a softer look, with much of the positive effects. This navy was perfect for the look I was trying to create.
This is an excellent liner. It's so easy to use. It's creamy, with a beautiful matte finish. It can be used as is, or with a tiny bit of water, for more intensity. As a normal liner, I'd just suggest to use it as is, but to create a more formal line, I use a tiny bit of water on my brush. It's really easy to smudge and use as shadow, too, either with or without water. What a love about this is that I can use it without wetting for the smudged part of the look I'm trying to create, and then use it wet with a very pointed liner brush right at the base of my upper lashes to create a very very narrow darker defined line (over the wider smudged area), to add a little extra definition. In addition to using this to create dramatic glamorous styles, this liner creates beautiful navy lines that are aren't quite as casual as those I get with a pencil, but aren't as formal as those I get with a liquid. It's also way easier to use than a liquid, and the creamy consistency makes it almost mistake proof. Smudged, as shadow, this is equally as good.
I love this liner and highly recommend it.
PS If all this doesn't make you want to own this excellent liner, I should also mention that I'm able to depot this liner into one of my own personalized palettes, along with other of my favorites, so if you're into depotting like I am, this is an added benefit because it doesn't require blow dryers or tools to loosen or pry away glue.

perfect consistency
-05.23.11
Quick Take: smudgable, long wearing
I was looking for a cream cake liner, the kind that Smashbox makes. The Smashbox one was sold out, but I didn't want to leave the store empty handed.
The consistency is perfect. I found with some of the Sephora products, the texture was too much of a 'gel' base and smeared too easily during application process.
This product wears long, isn't drying, is easy to remove.
