Lives up to the Fekkai reputation...- 02.18.10
I wasn't particularly impressed by the brush and bowl system, since I use it all the time with other hair colors. But this is the first at-home color I have ever used that looks totally natural and completely covers my Bride of Frankenstein stripes of grey hair. Three weeks after coloring, not a hint of grey is peeking through. And my hair is much smoother than it has been with other at-home coloring. I will definitely be using this again.
By the way, on the recommendation of a Sephora employee who had used the product previously I purchased a shade lighter than I normally would - and got exactly the results I wanted.

I used the light brown on my dark brown hair, mostly because the picture of the girl on the box looked like my color. It turned the roots totally orange and brassy while the ends are super dark. I use cheap hair dye and this doesn't happen. I won't be using this again.

Quick Take: fantastic!
This is a terrific hair coloring product. The color is a true match to the swatch at Sephora - just hold it to your hair in good light. I've been impressed with all of the Fekkai products I've tried - this new self coloring kit is gentle on the hair, and gave even color distribution and a beautiful color. My hair was indeed shinier after the treatment ... so much that several people commented positively on the condition of my hair the next day. I recommend this if you want to color or touch up your hair at home!

I was thrilled with how my hair turned out with this product. The scent of the dye isn't overwhelming like cheaper brands. I liked the hair mask that comes with this kit, it really smoothes your hair nicely.

This is worth the extra $$$- 01.28.10
Quick Take: great for overprocessed hair
This color is perfect. It leaves your hair soft and the color is rich and glossy. It doesn't get brassy over time (I've had it for 3 weeks now). This is much better than any drugstore dye and though it's expensive, the results are as close to salon quality as you can get. At first, I was intimidated by the brush but it turned out to be easy. I have medium brown hair and purchased the light brown neutral color (Jaclyn 6N) and it still came out pretty dark and somewhat flat so I may go up a shade next time. Most hair dye is flat, though, unless you add highlights and with my greys it's just too much maintenance for me to go that route. FYI, I use FF Au Naturel shampoo which is very gentle on dyed hair but the cheaper dyes sitll seemed to get stripped alot earlier than this one.

Quick Take: unrivaled for otc permanent hair color, rich color shine natural brilliant brown
After trying many brands of permanent hair color, this product, although pricey, is THE only product which rivals professional hair salon coloring. The color is rich, multi-faceted, NATURAL and brilliant. Even my husband noticed! The only downside, besides the price, is that the coverage for grey hairs doesn't last very long; about the same as cheaper OTC hair color. Professional salon coloring lasts twice as long for grey hair, but costs over 3 times as much. For me, economically, I will use this again, but every-other-application. I will use the less expensive (i.e. Loreal) for the roots, then 4 weeks later, the Frederic Fekkai for all-over color, then 4 weeks later, Loreal for the roots, etc.

i went in the store and found that my root color is naturally 6n but the thing is, 2 years ago i got highlights so my hair was two seperate colors!! i got tired of the blonde and decided to go back to my natural dark brown hair. so i got the 5w which is just a shade darker than my roots and it came out beautiful! I have pretty thick hair and it covered all of my head! i got soo many compliments from everyone at school the next day- even from my teachers. haha

A little dark for "Light Brown"- 01.09.10
This hair color is GREAT! It's great quality and leaves your hair in better condition than it was before. Covers greys completely. The color on the box is accurate, which to me looks more like medium brown than light. That's the ONLY problem with this product. Go one color lighter than you think you want.

I have used EVERY kit from the grocery store from $3 to $15 and I was hesitant to try such an expensive at-home kit. But this was worth it! The color is true to that shown on the box and the directions were easy to understand. An extra set of hands was necessary for the back of my head. Next time I will buy a disposable bottle but I understand why it isn't included...the mixture is VERY thick and would be difficult to shake in a bottle.
I don't know how long the color will last but it covered the gray hair at my temples very well and did not stain my skin. My hair felt soft and conditioned when finished. Also, we were able to go out for dinner the same night without that flat, "I just colored my hair" look. Really natural color. Will absolutely buy again...if color doesn't fade in the next month.

Quick Take: easy to use, good results
Easy to apply and color on my hair, did not come out dark, as other people stated in their reviews. I have shoulder length hair and the pre-treatment prevented the previously dyed hair (i.e. everything beyond the roots) from getting that flat dark look, my color was even throughout. It's only been a week, but so far I think this hair color was worth the extra money due to the quality of color throughout my hair. Would have given it 5 stars except the post color cream rinse was simply ordinary, did not leave my hair as shiny as other products.

I wish I didn't have to color my hair [I am covering some emerging grays] but since I do, this is the BEST home haircolor I've ever used. It's even better than color I've gotten in expensive salons. People consistently comment on how shiny my hair is, [the color seems to have a touch of metallic, just enough to add some sparkle], and it's in GREAT condition. I would buy this product for the conditioner ALONE. Worth the money.

i started using this product as soon as it hit the shelf and i couldnt be more satisfied. it covers gray 100% and the large conditioner defers the cost somewhat. i do find that i need to purchase one shade lighter than my normal box of color.

The application is difficult - I couldn't imagine trying to do this on my own (my roommate helped), but the effort is worth it. The color is a little dark at first, but like all other dyes it has faded with time to a very nice brown.
