Quick Take: great value, simple to use
Great product. by the way, if you've never went to a Bare Escentual's store, you wont know how to use this. everything is important in this kit, including the mineral veil to keep shine away and to seal in the make up. wanted to buy this for my little cousin, but its out of stock =(
I bought the the getting started kit for myself and loved it so much that I bought all 7 of my nieces and my daughter a newbie kit. It is a great intro to a fabulous product. My girls range in color from fair to tan so the color range available was fabulous.
Overall, this is a pretty good foundation. It does feel a little heavy as the day goes by, especially if your skin tends to get oiler by the hour. It provides great coverage. The "warmth" powder is amazing! Use only in moderation though or risk looking sunburnt. I don't see the point of the mineral veil; skin looks radiant but sometimes too shiny.
The coverage is extremely light, but this is a great way to try out the Bare Minerals products before dropping a ton of money on the full-size versions. I wasn't the least bit impressed with the make-up, and the little brush is tiny and frustrating.
Bare minerals is worth every penny, and works so well on my chemically sensitive skin. I really love this set for testing colors on yourself, or for mixing small amounts with another foundation color to lighten or darken. It is also the perfect size for travel. I have used this set on about 4 trips thus far, and it is so much easier than carrying my larger sized tubs.
I like the Bare Escentuals product itself, but I'd like to comment and forewarn people that this is a very small trial size kit. I didn't realize how small the products were so I'm a little disappointed in that.
I'm so glad I purchased the Newbie kit. I can travel with them in my cosmetic bag. The minerals do give my acne scars amazing coverage. I can sleep in my makeup! The Newbie kit is an intro kit, so I will be purchasing the regular sizes a.s.a.p!
I bought this for my friend, who is new to the product. She was absolutely in love with the product. I must say, for $18 dollars, there was plenty of the product. I must say, I am very happy with this purchase.
I love bare minerals, but I don't wear make up everyday, so this little kit is already mixed for my face color and won't get old on the shelf, like the regular sizes. You can even wet your camoflauge brush and use the face powder wet to cover up blemishes and then apply dry face powder to cover up your entire face, with blemishes gone or barely visible. I had a huge boil on the right bottom of my jaw line. I never had cosmetic surgery on it, but with the wetted face powder, no one can see the scarring. Bare minerals is the absolute best cover up ever. It even works really well with Laura Mercier cover up, as well. It makes Laura Mercier products even better combined with Bare Minerals. Great product. I don't use anyother brand!!
Well, I am somewhat new to mineral makeup. I've used Sheer cover before, and it made me breakout really bad. I had pimples all over my forehead. It took me 4 months to get rid of the breakout. So, I just wanted to try mineral makeup again. I've always loved the natural look. BareMinerals is pretty good so far, I haven't had any breakouts yet. The thing that I don't like is that it doesn't give me the shine that I love. But, my face doesn't look oily . So I rate it an average, not the worst and not the best.
I liked the coverage when I tried it on. The color matched me perfectly BUT...after a couple of hours, my skin begin to itch. The next couple of weeks, my skin broke out like CRAZY. I know it was from this product because I only broke out from the areas where I applied the make up. I then did some research on the ingredients and found that MICA is horrible for acne-prone skin. I'm now staying away from all products with MICA in it.
I have combination to oily skin. After putting this over my moisturized face, my face is dry. I found dry patches of slightly peeling skin that i didnt even know i had. Sure it evens out your skin tone, so you look okay if you're far away or in the shadow, but it doesnt look goodup close in the light. The color didn't exactly match my skin tone either, but maybe i just bought the wrong set of shades. The packaging is really cute, love the cute little containers. However, i could not keep it just for that because i knew i would never use it again.
love this product! i would suggest a bigger kit though. so great on your skin, and clears it right up! I've never had make up that makes my skin better before.
I'm pretty happy with this product, but doesnt cover as much as i though it would, well it does only if you put tone of powder on. Pretty good for light coverage.
This was a great idea for Bare Minerals, I purchased this as an in-between seasons, when I do not really want to buy full size of tan or medium biege, and it is very affordable. It is also great for as a trial for women that have never used it.
I'm brand new to the makeup world in general, and bareMinerals was where I jumped in. The makeup itself is wonderful, the kit came with a great guide, the sizes are fair (especially considering how little is used). My only complaint is the brush. While it's great for contouring and pinpointing areas, bristles would be scattered on my face along with the product.
Quick Take: good value, smallbut good for occasional makeup wearers
So far i've bought 2 different shades of B.E.,neither matched my skin perfectly, but i found that mixing them together works well.If all else fails, the "warmth" works fine as a foundation.
