My go-to foundation

Quick Take: lightweight, easy to apply
I've been using this stuff for ten years and I absolutely love it! It's so easy to apply and you don't even feel like there's makeup on your face. Lately I've been layering this over a BB cream and I find that the combination takes away some of the shine that the BB cream imparts. It doesn't provide that much coverage, but I just use some concealer if I want to hide any discoloration or other flaws.

I started to have problems with oily skin in the t-zone, so I decided to try this out. I barely got halfway through a day of work before I felt like I needed to wipe the oil off my face, and this problem has been constant, despite using this foundation. It wasn't matte at all. In fact, I felt like my skin was more oily when I used this version of the foundation. Totally useless.

I like to wear minimum coverage so this is my go to powder. It covers what it needs to cover and it's very light and contains SPF. It takes away shine with one stroke. If your thinking about purchasing this product don't hesitate.

I've been using bareMinerals foundation for a while now and love that matte is an option. I have combination skin and have always had a problem being shiny in pictures but this product has taken away the shine and boosted my confidence in the process! It can be worn as just a sheer dusting or heavier for going out - no matter how much I put on it seems to stay very well all day. I like the brushes that came with it but when they wore out I changed over to the Sephora Pro line.

All the rave about bareMinerals enticed me to try the product and I spent the extra $2 for the mattifying powder. I must say, after a couple hours my skin starts to feel oily in an uncomfortable way. I also find it very difficult to apply i.e. you can definitely tell with my pores and fine lines that I;m wearing makeup. Not living up the hype!

Huge fan of bareMinerals foundations. Great cover up that's not heavy or cake-y and looks very natural. Matte seems to conceal more than the regular kind but I recommend both whole heartedly. I put a more-than-usual amount on before a night out but even the dance sweats don't wipe off this great foundation. Can't live without bareMinerals!

Color has changed.

Quick Take: not the same color as the prior fairly light
The color of the Fairly Light has changed. It's darker and has to much yellow in it. I compared the color to my old, nearly gone Fairly Light and it looks like a totally different color. The only way I can use it is to add a much lighter mineral powder to it and blend, blend, blend. Very disappointed and will not purchase again. This is the second time I've purchased a bareMinerals product that the color formulation has been change.

I guess this powder isn't a good fit for me. I found that after a couple of hours, it looked.. splotchy. It wore unevenly so I had patches that looked powdered/cakey and spots where the powder was just gone. I have oily skin but I have been more impressed with other brands I have tried.

I previously owned the original formula and was extremely allergic to it, so I was SO happy to learn they had made another version without the bismuth oxychloride. This product is very matte and makes my skin look beautiful (especially in photographs!) The coverage is buildable as long as you use the right brush. Large, fluffy brushes probably won't give you full coverage if that is what you're looking for. I use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush since it is fairly dense and compact and I'm able to get pretty good coverage with it. The one thing I'm very pleased with is that I'm able to apply cream products over top of this powder and my makeup doesn't get cakey looking. The reason I only put 4 stars is because it tends to settle in my pores so I still have to put something underneath of it. I use one of the L'Oreal BB creams since it is so light and gives a bit of extra coverage. I only apply the BB cream where my pores tend to be a little enlarged (nose especially.) I think you'll like this product if you are allergic to the original but love the overall concept of mineral foundation!

Many things wrong for me

I bought mine in the fall of 2010. I was color matched at Sephora to fairly light. I had combination/dry, acne-prone skin with acne-scarring. It didn't provide good coverage at all, and seemed orangey to me. The more I put on, the worse it looked. It was chalky almost.
I tried it out recently and still was not impressed. Maybe if your skin is very oily it would blend in nicely. It might look better if used as a powder over a liquid or cream foundation.

I love this color because it matches my skin will and is gluten free! I feel like I don't get great coverage or lasting coverage with a powder but ti's the only way to not stress about clogging my pores. I think there's a fine line between okay coverage and too much with this powder.

I've have tried many foundations, in search of a foundation that will make me look like I was born with great skin and that will help control oil. This is the best one I've found so far. It makes my face look naturally radiant and perfect, which it is not! My face still gets oily at the end of the day, but this controls oil very well. I'm glad I splurged and spent the money on this, it will make me look my best at my wedding!

I absolutely love this foundation! At first I was getting the wrong shade I was getting the medium beige and finally figured out that I was a golden medium! I wear this makeup everyday it covers fairly well considering I get dark spots from pimples. I would recommend this to anyone to give it a try!

I have very oily skin w/acne tendency. Now that i'm older, I've tried going back to the new lighter liquid foundations. But still, nothing beats the feeling of 'nothing' on your skin, which is what Bare Minerals feels like. I don't notice that it settles into my pores or wrinkles like some older reviewers have said.
