It really works
-05.11.13
With all those new trends coming and going on hair removal, I was skeptical.
First, I tried on a spot that It would be obvious to see the results, my arm. With one treatment, as I let the hair grow again, just to see if there where any obvious results, It just really worked. It was bald in the area I tried it on and I was able to see the surrounding hair grow as the test spot staid bald.
I am not disappointed at all. I had spent over $2,000.00 on professional hair removal and compared to what I paid for this I just regret spending so much money on the other hair removal treatments.
I highly recommend this device.

3 months later- seeing results
-02.27.13
Quick Take: effective
I have had this for three months now and am seeing some results. It is definitely frustrating at first, but my hair now grows back softer, lighter and slower. Everyone has already reviewed that aspect already, so I thought I would add my two cents on the less successful parts of my experience: The manual says you have to shave before each treatment, so I have had to give up waxing, which meant that I was prickly for a couple months until it kicked in. (Winter is definitely the best time to start using it.). Also, sephora does not sell replacement bulbs, so you have to order them from the manufacturer, who takes a really long time to ship. Finally, I do feel a slightly uncomfortable pinching when the light is at level 4 or so- so the process is not completely pain free. Regardless, I am happy with this purchase and plan to keep using it.

it works, but it takes time
-02.21.13
I was pretty nervous to buy this product as it is sooo expensive, but it actually seems to be paying off! Although it works, it takes some time...I've been using it for 4 months on bikini area (basically doing a brazilian), underarms, and upper lips. There's definitely been a reduction of hair growth.
I have light to medium skin and hair is relatively dark.
So I am pretty happy with it!
Buying and using the product is a long commitment and requires patience. Therefore, it might not be for everyone.

Working for me
-01.30.13
I don't typically write many reviews for products but I felt I needed to for this item. I received my unit in November and it is DEFINITELY working for me. I started with just using it on my face and underarms as I didn't want to use all of the cartridge and have to order more to see if I got results. All I can say is everytime I go to shave my underarms, I am amazed that there is literally no more hair!!!! I am ecstatic!! My face is taking longer to see full results but I used to pluck all the time so the hairs are all at different growth cycles! I am light skinned with dark hair and I couldn't be happier with this product!!!

One of my best financial endeavors
-01.28.13
Quick Take: a must have, effective, worth it, requires a bit of patience, not too much of a commitment
I bought this with high hopes and when I first used it, I was expecting more that what it could give me realistically. I used it for two months and then stopped out of the blue because I lost the desire and I wasnt seeing resulting right then and there; granted I am a very impatient person. I just started using it again and I can literally see the difference from where there was hair and where it is still growing, and that is after one use. the hair hasn't grown for months and I am so glad that I tried it again. Great product. Definitely reccomend. You won't regret this purchase.
There's so many other products out there but i am glad that I took the chance with this one.

-01.09.13
I'm starting to suspect that all of the positive reviews are planted. I've been using it for 2 months now every two weeks as directed and have not seen any reduction in hair growth. I'll stick with it till I run out of flashes.

I've had this for three months now and used it on arm pits and arms (5 sessions) and legs (3 sessions). I can say that it works in some areas of your legs but you must not get your hopes too high as it will stimulate dormant hair in other areas of your legs. The same goes for arms and armpits. Also, it does get rid of ingrowns but if you are not careful can create new ones elsewhere. My device stopped beeping yesterday, which means that I will have to send it to the manufacturer to have it replaced or fixed. Pretty inconvenient when your on a roll! Otherwise I would have rated it 3 stars rather than two.

it works!
-12.16.12
It really works. My legs have total bald patches now, and less thick hair growth overall. It's pretty amazing. I had really thick, dark hair and I am extremely pale so I think I got lucky finally with my fair complexion. This really did work, I paid a lot for replacement lights though, ordered off the silkn website. They don't sell the model of the cartridges at Sephora, but you can buy a pack of 3 for around $115 on the manufacturer's website. I did have an issue with the machine breaking but I got sent a replacement and luckily it didn't disrupt my sessions since I was already pretty much done at that point. I think I had just left the machine on for too long. I also used this on my arms, but I stopped and let it grow back and now there's bald patches. I think it's lighter overall but I don't really remember, it looks kind of stupid but I can't really do anything about that now. So basically, think really hard about doing your arms. And be prepared to spend $ on lights, but it's so worth it to me. I get less ingrowns too!

Takes time, but very effective
-12.09.12
Quick Take: effective, great value
First off, I have owned mine for over 2 years now.
For me, it took a very long time to see results but to be honest, it is worth the wait. Some people see results pretty fast-- I am not one of those people. I thought it was not working at all for the first couple months. It took 6 months to see truly outstanding results. To say the item does not work after only 2-4 months is not a proper evaluation of the product.
I have thick, black hair and very fair skin. It has had varying results depending on the area it was used. In area where my hair is thinner, it worked faster. In areas where my hair is thick, it took significantly longer.
One thing to keep in mind is that you will need to continue your treatments for as long as you want the results. Perhaps you do not need to use it as vigorously as you did to begin with but results will fade if you completely discontinue use.
I have not experienced any hyperpigmentation as a result of using this item. I will say that I did avoid sun exposure after using it to avoid the effect. I have used this item in areas my face, underarms, bikini and legs.

Love it best ever

Always wanted to try laser hair removal but with a crazy schedule I would never have the time for in-office treatments. Used it three times as directed and already seeing results. I have light freckled skin with moderate amount dark hair. So pleased I'm going to start using it on my 12yr old daughter.

OK for the money
-11.03.12
I've tried both professional laser and this. I actually bought the earlier model of SensEpil (it's blue not pink) and used it for a few months before going for pro treatments. I definitely think this gave me a head start.
I did pro treatments for 2 calendar years and I'm still not hair free. The medispa said I've spent my best money with them already (meaning there would be diminishing returns trying to chase the last 10-20% that's left). So I'm back to using this on my underarms and other areas to catch that last bit. Better than electrolysis route, that's for sure.
Permanent hair removal takes YEARS not months so you have to stick with it, and this is way cheaper than pro treatment (I spent over $6K in 2 years), but you won't get the heavenly 4 week hairless effect between treatments that you do with pro, though you will have less and less hair over time. This product tends to zap and make certain hairs fall out but not all of them every time, so you really do have to do this more frequently than pro and keep shaving regularly in between. It's actually not a real laser, but it does affect hairs so if you don't have large patches you want to get rid of if you have patience for this I say do it. It does make hair shed like real laser so there IS an effect to it. Just stay as white as possible, the light looks for pigment and you don't want your hair to compete with your skin pigment or the zap won't be very strong.

Give it some time
-11.01.12
I bought this machine a year ago. I try to do weekly treatments. The hair on my legs grows back in patches, and vary grown back much lighter. I have light skin and dark hair. The hair that does grow back is very minimal. It is diffidently much cheaper then the expensive laser hair treatments at the salon.

Changed my life! Really.
-09.16.12
I cannot say enough good things about this device.
I've had mine for a year and a half and my legs and arms are 90% hair free.
My skin tone is light-medium and my hairs are black. Back when I used to shave daily you could still see little black dots everywhere from where the razor cut the hair as well as the dark root under the skin. I also used to get horrible razor burn on my legs that led to ingrown hairs from which I still have scarring.
You need to give it time to work. After 2 sessions you may notice less regrowth and then a month or two later, spots you thought were bare have hairs again. I'm sure you know about hair growing in different stages so give it a good 6 months to really see results. I used to have to shave my legs everyday, sometimes twice a day and now I shave or pluck strays a couple of times a week.
At first one cartridge would last me 1 1/2 sessions. Now, one cartridge can easily last 6-12 months.** I still have some stubborn areas.
Personally, I didn't bother with the lower settings. I set the machine to level 4 my first time and from the second use on, I set it at level 5.
Even though the machine costs a lot up front, one visit to a professional set me back $100-$200. Knowing that this has to be done several times to work, it was a purchase that made sense and one that I don't regret making.

On the Fence
-09.11.12
I wanted to love this product. I've always had a problem with shaving and having the hair return the next day. I have light skin with thick dark hair so shaving everyday was a necessity. After a few uses, I can see the difference. Some areas are clean while patches of hair in the same area are alive and well. That being said, shaving is easier. However, the light cartridges don't last very long. I did my legs, arms, bikini line, and lip area on setting 1 and had to replace the cartrigde by the next use. At first, I thought it was a faulty cartridge but I had to do it again after my second round.....So, although cheaper then professional hair removal, it is still very pricy.

Worth the money!!
-09.04.12
Ok so I have had this machine for almost two years. Initially I was really excited, used it on arm, legs, underarms and bikini area. I must say I was not a consistent user, I gave up on my arms because once I got tanned it would start burning, so the hair that had once gone, came back but not all of it. This has been great for legs, I had really hairy legs. I would have to shave everyday and still have those dark hair follicles show through...not pretty. After I used this off and on for an year. I only have to shave once a week...80% percent of the hair is gone..so shaving is much faster too. definitely worth the money.
