Not a tight hold. Slightly filmy, but not crispness and no greasiness. Over all, I'd say this a good product if you're looking for something that doesn't damage your hair and leaves it looking natural.

My curls are defined and ”spiral-y” after using this product. My only reason for four stars over five is because my hair is a bit crunchy after it dries.

I am very happy with what this product (in combination with the leave-in conditioner) does for my hair. My hair is curly, unruly, and frizzy so I really need a good product that will help make my hair look healthy. This product really does the job! Thank you Quidad:)

Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, smells great
This gel works great for my wavy hair. It does dry crunchy (which I like) and scrunches out easily. It makes my hair super shiny and smells good too. Also, it's CG friendly for curlies going that route. Highly recommend!

I've been trying to find a replacement for my old cocktail of Zerran Glacon Styling Liquid and AG's Recoil Curl Activator ever since Glacon changed its formula and the company wouldn't send me a sample.
I used to use this gel ten years ago but then my beauty supply stopped carrying it. I was so happy to see it at Sephora where I could actually get a sample or buy it and return it if it didn't work. (I have an entire graveyard of disappointing hair products taking up space in my cabinet!)
It's amazing that this is the least expensive gel that Ouidad offers yet so far it's my favorite - even over CC! It is sticky and does dry a little crunchy but i like that for my particular hair but it is the best gel I've found so far - I'm just trying to find something to cocktail with it to make it work better. I feel it needs a little conditioning element. On day two - four, I simply put a teeny tiny squeeze in my hand and add some water and put in my dry hair and it looks amazing.
However, I am finding that my neck and forehead are breaking out so the glycerin might be too greasy for me. If anyone has a suggestion on what to cocktail with it to make my hair have a wet look that needs to get scrunched out, please let me know. I like something to actually weigh my hair down a little and decrease the puffiness while clumping my curls. It's a tall order but I'll find it!

Quick Take: easy to use
I've try almost every product for curly hair, from cheap too super expensive (Morrocan Oil) and this is the best I've try so far! It defines curl, hold them and gives alot of shine! When you go to a Sephora store, you can ask for a sampler and this is the perfect size to try it once. That's how I discover it and, of course, I went back to purchase it!

Love all Ouidad products. Tress effects isn't too sticky or crunchy and perfect for curl coverage. It washes out with water. I just wet my hair in the morning and add tress effects to style. More expensive than other products but worth it. Ouidad offers several gels so if this one isn't enough try others for the perfect one.

My hair used to be much curlier. Now it just kinda likes to stick out everywhere. This product helps it curl. I've tried a lot of other brands, and this one helps more than most, especially for the price. The bottle has lasted me a long time. My hair gets a little crispy if I use too much, but I just scrunch it out. My little sister has curlier hair than me and she tried mine. She loved it so much that she bought her own bottle. It really helps her hair curl beautifully.

I absolutely love ouidad products. I'm a latina with long unruly, curly hair, I have tried every product you can think of but nothing compares to the tress effects gel from Ouidad. It defines my curls, leaving them lose and soft. I get a lot of compliments on my hair, like I said, I absolutely love it!

I wanted to like this. I think it's reasonably priced, and I like the clove smell. However, it made my curls stringy and a little stiff, rather than soft and full. I returned it and am holding out for the new Ouidad Define and Shine, which I hope Sephora stocks soon.

Smells lovely. Very lightweight, no "crunchiness."
The product is very sticky and you might have to wash your hands a few times to get it all off.
Be aware that this does NOT enhance curls - it will only set what curl your hair does have to it.

Quick Take: non-sticky, lightweight, easy to use, curl memory
I've been using this product since 1999. I even when to the salon in New York to have the Ouidad cut. I have literally gone to UPS many times to pick up as I couldn't wait for it to get delivered. I prefer this over the climate control gel as I love the smell. Reminds me of cloves.
