Not something I'd have chosen for myself...- 03.07.10
Got the sample, tried it out, husband immediately perked up with a "you smell great, what is that?". A little goes a long way, you don't need much. I prefer a lighter, citrus perfume, this is a heavier musky, seems like vanilla undertone but I suppose it's a much sexier scent than me smelling like lemons. Go figure. And while some people complain about it being ~too~ strong I'm happy that I only need one little spray, I've got bottles of other really expensive) cologne that no matter how much I spritz on it seems to have worn off before I'm even out of my house, nice to have spent the $$ and someone be able to notice it. Means this will last a long time.

I don't think of this as a Romantic fragrance, but I do think of it as a Night fragrance...It has depth. would have given it a five star but fot an Eau de Parfum verses a cologne the staying power just wasn't there. When I go out I expect my fragrance to linger even as I walk away, Other wise, what's the use??

As a longtime fan of scents associated with Tom Ford (YSL, Gucci), this is yet another big and brassy scent from the king of sexy chic. TF does not make small perfumes-- these are for women that want to stand out with a unique and sensual scent! TF Black Orchid is quickly becoming a major favorite-- I literally have men (and women) stopping me to tell me I smell amazing and to ask what it is. When I say Tom Ford or Black Orchid, men always say "oh right" because they know Tom Ford does sexy right for both men and women, and women always either tell me that they've heard it's amazing or that they always seem to ask women who are wearing TFBO what perfume they're wearing. But overall, I love this-- just a couple of pumps will last most of the day, and it blends well with many body chemistries. It starts out big and musky, but settles down as a spicy warm floral. LOVE TFBO!

I received a sample of this with my order, and I am so glad I chose it! When I first put it on I was immediately struck with an incense/creamy silken aroma. My heart fluttered. I put it on around 2:00 this afternoon, and it is still alive and sensual, morphing into a dangerous exotic floral/sandalwoody spank on the booty. My Hubs has been kissing me all night, telling me how fantastic I smell. I am an old school Dior Poison kinda gal, and this is right up my silk stocking alley. Will be ordering when sample runs out. Gorgeous.

The Black Orchid EDP by Tom Ford is by far one of the most unique smelling fragrances out there right now--- and it should be noted that it is unisex!! Just a couple of sprays of Black Orchid will last you the entire day. This is also one of those rare fragrances that evolves while you wear it. An adjective to describe it: VELVETY. For men or women, I would put this at the top of my shopping list when seeking out a new cologne/perfume.

Quick Take: milky-floral, long-lasting
I'm not a fan of overtly floral fragrances, preferring my flowers in the background, or 'dirtied up' with an animalic note. Black Orchid is neither, but it smells so good - especially the next day on your clothes - I don't care!
If you like Michael Kors (vanilla-jasmine), YSL's Elle (rose musk) or Paris (rose floral), you'll probably like this. (Of those, I only like Elle, myself.) It has nice silliage but is suitable for the office IF you can limit yourself to a single spray.

I like this scent but don't wear it everyday. It's a strong., heavy smoky patchouli on me. It softens up but even at its softest it's a "night out" perfume for me. I love how unusual it is. It's such a strong scent it almost becomes its own accessory :-) Leave off a couple of bracelets if you're going to wear this.....
