Quick Take: dry tight feeling, slightly shiny by day's end, great color match
Went on sheer and matte as promised. Deauville was a great match for my fair skin, with slightly pink undertone. Applied over moisturiser, it felt tight and dry, by the end of the day my skin was slightly shiny. So, back it goes! I have an oily T-zone in warmer weather, it might be better then.

first, my skin is caramel and I'm in my early twenty's. I have been a customer of Sephora for YEARS, and I have never felt compelled to write a review until now. The Nars Sheer Matte Foundartion is wonderful!! For those of color (and all else) should try this foundation. For about 40 dollars you are getting an amazing foundation that is build-able. It’s perfect for those who are oily, and/or those who just like the matte finish. It looks so natural, even on darker skin tones. Go Nars!, this is my first Nars product and they will definitely be getting more of my money!

Quick Take: moisturizing, natural
I got a trial of this in Sephora and eventually bought it a few weeks later.
It works well for me because I have combination skin, oily on the T-zone and dry cheeks. I've found that washing your face before application and even putting a non-oily facial moisturizer/sunblock prolongs the matte effect of the foundation. Then lightly buff a translucent setting powder on only the oily parts of the face. This foundation doesn't break me out. It actually helps my skin breathe despite having foundation on.
It provides medium coverage (don't buy this if u need heavy coverage) and is buildable from light coverage to medium coverage. I think people might be putting on too much foundation on the first application (when they want more coverage) and ends up caking since they've already put so much that its hard to work with. The trick is start with a part of your face with a little bit of foundation and continually build coverage to make it even. I've found that using a sponge helps the most when applying it, and it makes a difference in warming up the foundation (i put it on the back of my hand) before applying.
I give it a 4 Star since NARS does NOT provide a pump for this. U have to pay extra for that. And also, $42 for 1 oz of foundation is pretty expensive.
Other than those two, I can't complain much since it works for me.

Quick Take: dry but good coverage
I'm generally a fan of the NARS line, and this is a good product, but it's very dry. I have to mix it wilth moisturizer in order to use it. The coverage is very good, though, and it lasts a long time. It gives a very finished look. If you have oily skin, this is probably a very good foundation for you. If you have dry skin like me, I would recommend another foundation.

really happy with NARS- 03.04.10

i really love this foundation, the way it goes on and that it stays on all day without having to re- apply. at first i was using too much of it at once, but after a few days i learned that a little goes a long way. when i am done with this bottle i will deffinately get another. only con is that there is no pump on bottle !

Cakey and mask-looking- 03.02.10
I am in the color Stromboli, and the foundation color is wayyyy too exagerratingly yellow. The matteness of it is great but it is too yellow for my liking. The color cannot even be considered medium because is it just straight up yellow. I found that it also dried out my skin. It gets extremely oily around the T-zone throughout the day.

Beautiful, natural, buildable coverage. The finish is lovely. Primer is a must, I opted the for Tarte's on the salesperson's advice. I have fairly oily skin and I do get shiny with this foundation. So, either a blotting paper or a mid-day touch up is required. I will likely continue with this foundation.

I love this foundation! It gives a great finish and makes your skin look amazing!! I don't like the heavy made up look, so I start out with just a little and then build to my desired coverage. Only thing is, it does not control my oils as well as the MUFE matte velvet.

Quick Take: does nothing for u
I am really angry for buying this. I bought it before I went abroad so I couldnt exchange it. it doesnt cover ANything. The light in the store made me think it was great and now I realize it's a terrible foundation. The blushes are great (by Nars) but I'm so sorry I bought this foundation. I will never buy foundation at Sephora again. EVER!
