i dont love this product, i am not going to lie. this product has dual sides, one with a cream, the other a gel. the first few times i used it only the gel side was dispensing which was slightly frustrating. I have a shag-type haircut and i was hoping for something a lil more rich to define the different layers. this did not do that. maybe its my hair, but i would not buy this again :(

Quick Take: easy to use
There is a clear gel and a white cream that are supposed to come through the pump at the same time. I thought there were two parts, but when only one came out I was not sure. Finally, after using it for 6 days, the second "cream" was visible. I am not sure if I was doing something wrong. Now that I have been using it for a couple of weeks, I would say that it is about the same as other products I have tried. I have a hard time finding hair products that I like. I do not think it is worth the cost - 24.00. I used a gift card for the purchase which made the cost easier to bear. I doubt I will purchase it again. I am still on the look out for that elusive hair product that I LOVE.

Quick Take: lightweight, non-sticky
I first tried HerCut Long Layers and it separated my layers. However, I have shoulder length hair and my layers kind of stuck out in weird ways so I thought my hair was probably too short for the long layer product. I went to the Sephora store and the sales associate advised me that The Shag was probably more suited for my hair length and layers so I gave it a try. The Shag is exactly what I needed because it gave my layers the separation that I wanted without making it stick out or look too stiff. It gave my hair a more natural tousled look. I could tell that my layers were separating out while I was blowdrying it. I'm very pleased with the product. The only "complaint" I have is the dispenser which is supposed to dispense the two formulas in the bottle equally. However, I've found that if I hold the bottle completely upright while pumping the dispenser it comes out much better than when I was holding it at an angle toward my palm.

Okay, i first bought the one for long layers and that was horrible!! it left my hair dull, dry and gooey feeling. i have curly, highlighted very layered mid length hair. i had samples of all the other ones and tried the shag. but first i put a little smoothing product on my hair and applied this over that. my hair has never been so well behaved! it looked awesome for the first time in i don't know how long. i don't think this product does well on my "bare" hair. maybe my hair is too porous and absorbs it wrong. anyway, using it with a little sealant first was the way to go. it really did make my layers stand out and gave me a nice hold that didn't look like i had any product in at all. i'll be buying the shag catalyst for sure.

This is a little heavy for my hair, but I have only used 3-4 times. Certainly worth a try, especially if you have the right haircut! Make sure to shake well, as this is a dual product.

A salesperson was nice enough to give me two samples of this product when I asked about a low maintenance solution for styling thin, limp hair. I was instructed to use one entire sample pack per styling, but it seemed like way too much even for my long hair. After blow drying, it left my hair sticky, crunchy and weighed down (but curly! for a little while). It was still also very frizzy, maybe this isn't the product for fine hair after all. I tried the second sample, only using half the pouch this time, and I saw absolutely no results at all; my hair just fell flat instantly. Definitely will not buy.

I was given the product as a sample. I have thin straight hair with long layers. I love this product!!! It definately defines the layers and gives body too. What I love the best is it gives my hair a beautiful wave. Like a body wave in a bottle. Not sure this will be the case for everyone but it does for me. So those day I don't want to fuss with the blow dryer or curling iron, I just use a diffuser on my blow dryer and it looks great!

I used the free sample that I got in the store thinking it would be good...I was wrong. It left my hair feeling dirty and gritty and heavy, not what I was looking for. Way too heavy of a product to use in shorter hair if you ask me!

I have a shaggy bob style so I decided to try this. It was AWFUL! Not only do you waste a fair amount of the product trying to get it to pump out an equal amount (which for the price of the product seems like a huge waste) but it made my hair feel gross - Tacky and sticky. I have naturally thick wavy hair and this made my hair look dull and matted. I even broke the handle off my hairbursh when I tried to brush it (seriously) I wouldn't recommend this to anyone - for the price there are a dozen better products to use.

Love this for a layered cut on very thick hair that tends to dry at the ends and look frizzy. HerCut did what it said. Caution: The instructions on the container say to use more product than is actually needed - you will need to play with the amount to get it just right.

I really like this product. It does something very subtle..but hard to describe. I feel like my hair has more shape and style with this, but I cant tell it is in my hair once I blow dry it. I have never stuck with any mouse or gel before, but plan to use this every shampoo. Prior..I didnt use any products, but in the past used the spray Aveda flaxseed gel, that they dont make anymore.

I have short hair, and tried this while my hair was damp. I found it very difficult to work with and it made my hair feel coarse and rough. I started using it after I dried and styled my hair and found it much easier to work with. Now I use it on my ends and like it a lot. I'm not sure if it's worth the price, but I am glad I bought it to try out.

i tried this on my towel dried medium length, texturized/layered thick wavy hair today. I got a sample of the lotion/gel formulas that you mix together and apply to clean towel dried hair. this formula made my hair sticky and very dull. there was no shine at all, and my hair felt tangled sticky and diirty. I guess that is the 'texture' it adds. The smell does not stick around, so that is not an issue. my hair is not soft like i thought this would help with. All in all, i would not buy this product there are many others out there that i prefer.

Great texture!- 02.13.10

This product gives my hair great texture without any weight. I have alot of fine hair so products can easily weigh down my hair, this is one of the first that doesn't. I'd definately buy again!
