I purchased the sheer powder in O00, which matched my pale, yellow-toned skin perfectly. The powder provided excellent coverage, but it does have a very powdery finish which isn't very natural.

Quick Take: buildable coverage
I've been using this foundation for years now! It's my favorite for every season. The O20 matches my skin tone perfectly during winter, and I get O40 for summer. It does matify, but it doesn't last all day. I find that I need to blot by lunch time. So far that has been the longest time I've gone since I have combo skin! I'll continue to repurchase!

Quick Take: mattifying, sheer, buildable
This foundation works well for my oily skin. In the wintertime, I can get through an entire workday without powder. In the summertime, I need powder by midday, but that's still better than other foundations (even powder foundations) I've tried. The compact refills come with an application sponge - which works well - but I prefer to apply with a kabuki brush. I can get almost 2 months use out of one pan. So glad I can get this online, because the Sephora stores don't carry it.

Quick Take: awesome
I love this compact. I usually use the sunscreen version of this foundation but I prefer this one because it's creamier and blends so easy with a brush or powder puff. I had a free sample and the color matched perfect so I went ahead and got the larger version. Stays on all day and doesn't feel thick.

finely milled. long wearing. it was on my 8 hours of work. light to medium coverage. great when you don't want to wear a lot of foundation. i was quite surprised to like this product.

B0 and I0 color details

I wish they gave more details on the color, but thanks to some reviews I was able to find out which color I would be. B0 is the perfect color for my ultra fair skin. The undertone is neutral and the color is extremely light. Usually it is very hard to find a foundation match.
I0 looks pink/orange. It is not the right color for my skin, but looks like a beautiful bronzer. I like it almost as much as my favorite Too faced Light Chocolate Bronzer.
Apparently O is ochre, so it is more yellow.
I love the finish and that it has SPF.

Medium coverage, silky, oil absorbing

Quick Take: buildable coverage, long wearing, oil-free, matte, not chalky, smooth
Good: it's oil absorbing, matifying, finely milled, feels super silky on the skin, minimizes the appearance of pores, not chalky, stays, doesn't melt off, feels lightweight, the powder adheres to your face even if applied with a brush.
What I didn't like: I still have to blot the oil on my face after a few hours, skin needs to be exfoliated so for those who have whiteheads, the product will sit around them making them more noticeable.
Tip: if you're olive or Asian, choose shades in the "O" range (ochre). I have yellow in my skin and I was matched to i40 "because you dont wanna be too yellow" she said. Big mistake, it made my face look too pinkish white and fake looking. I changed it for O40 and was a better match but not exactly my shade, O60 too dark.
Note: i don't find it sheer, some of you might like that. You can just apply and cover minor imperfections while controlling oil.
As long as you find your shade and you want oil control with medium to full build able coverage then this is perfect.

I accidentally got this instead of the Makeup Perfect Smoothing Foundation, and the coverage is good but looks greasy after a couple hours and it made me break out a LOT. I'll be returning this.

I've used Shiseido Powdery Foundation for years in the shade I20, sometimes switching to I40 in the summer. Now that they've changed the formula and product name, the shades that worked for me before are not even close. I20 in this product and in the Sun Protection version are orange-y. I'm hoping that that I00 will be right because I would hate to lose my apply-it-on-the-fly face make-up.

Great for Summer!

I bought this to replace my MAC Studio Fix. I had used Studio Fix off and on since high school when I wanted a quick and easy foundation that was light and natural looking. I wasn't always completely satisfied in the coverage or the oil control. Since I started using Shiseido The Makeup Liquid Foundation for the dry winter months and full coverage for nights out and loved it I though I would stick with this brand. LOVE the Sheer Matifying Compact! It really does keep the oil under control and my blotting paper is not soaked through like it usually is. Coverage is not full, but for summer I like a more natural breathable coverage. It looks beautiful on and I am now converted to Shiseido for all my foundation needs!

this foundation is so amazing. I have super oily skin and this keeps me much more oil free than anything else. I do need to blot myself once or twice during the day but it isn't nearly as bad as with any other foundation. the coverage is light to medium but you can build it up more depending on how much you want to cover.it covers up all my redness but if i have a pimple then i def need concealer. this stuff is also very easy to bring with me in my purse for any touch ups because it's so light and portable. the sponge that comes with the case is also really good quality. tho i don't use it when im putting it first on in the morning i use it for touch ups. the spf is also a nice touch.

I just started using this and picked my own shade on the internet, Crazy I know but the color I picked is doing fine but for summer will get a little darker neutral shade. I have extremely oily skin and this is great.

This is the best powder foundation out there.I use I60 although i can get away with I40, but i find the I60 gives better coverage interms of imperfections on the face. This foundation powder is a dream.. it glides on, doesnt get oily thoughout the day (barely noticable) and you dont feel you have anything on. when taking pictures, that have those bright lights, it does not give you that horrid 'white face' look that most foundation would do. Tried the Perfect Smoothing Compact Foundation and I was very shiny within 2 hours so returned it.

I've never really considered consistently wearing foundation until a couple months ago. And I wanted a powder foundation that wouldn't look like I was obviously wearing makeup. One of my sisters told me that she swears by this foundation and let me try some of hers. And I LOVE IT! It's so light and doesn't make my skin look bad either!

Omg!! I'm in love with the Sheer Matifying Compact.. I've been trying different makeup and haven't found any I truly love til now :D Seriously, it makes my face feel smooth, I feel like I'm not wearing make up, its so light! I have VERY VERY oily skin and it actually controls it... It keeps and makes my face FLAWLESS!! Even my boyfriend thinks it does and he hates makeup LOL!! But I greatly RECOMMEND it!! I finally found the powder I've been looking for! Looooooooooove it!!

Wow, I can't believe how much I hate this powder. I had been using the powdery foundation until it was recently discontinued. I was told this was it's replacement and that it was better and offered just as much coverage. After the first two days, I believed it. After the next four, I don't anymore. It offers little to no coverage, the color is much darker than the powdery foundation, and it doesn't do much for eliminating shine. Major disappointment. Now I have to start all over trying to find the perfect powder. Why do cosmetic companies always discontinue a good thing?
