Quick Take: good value, worth every drop and penny
Tom Ford Extreme.
You'd think the name says it all,...which it does.
My boyfriend had been wearing the wrong scents for him, those that smelled, "I'm a teen trying too hard to be a man" (when he's currently in his mature age).
So I went to Sephora, straight to Tom Ford's selection of scent creations, and the first one I tried was Extreme. And it was perfect.
I'm sure everyone has their own interpretation to scents, but this one, in my case, sang what my boyfriend stood for: sexy, clean, musky-hunk, artiste. (and I LOVE the way Extreme is rich, yet not too overpowering!)
I think it compliments any outfit too, which is rare in those "rich" scents.
Personally, i would wear it myself! Perhaps there would be a trend where women will start to wear Tom Ford Extreme....?

Simmering

Quick Take: vegas hot
Tom Ford can do no wrong; much like the creator this scent is smoldering hot. Strong scent with a tobacco tone, I refer to the smell as "Vegas". Masculine and sexy but with a depth of appeal. This is best worn in small doses but with maximum results.

My husband and I both love this cologne. It is very unique. I feel like every other male cologne smells like the other. This really stands out. It is very classy.

The best of the best...
-04.13.11
Quick Take: masculine, rich, sophisticated, sexy
Without a doubt Extreme is the best of Tom Ford's mainstream men's fragrances. It's rich, decadent, sophisticated and elegant. Oh, and it's sexy too. Don't let the name fool you; this is not an extreme or intense version of Ford's original men's fragrance, in fact they smell almost nothing alike. The name is also misleading because this fragrance isn't overpowering, although it is definitely not for those who like to smell "clean" or "fresh". And despite the paragraph-length list of notes this doesn't end up smelling like an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink kind of frag. It's very smooth and well blended. The only downside I've experienced is the somewhat uneven longevity. Sometimes it's as though this doesn't last more than a few hours, others I can smell it on me all through the day. Still, it's a fantastic scent, one that more men should be wearing.

Great Woodsy Scent
-09.29.10
Quick Take: woodsy, leather, masculine
I have been eying Extreme for a few months now. I first tried it this past summer and loved it, but was finishing off a bottle of dSquared Wood. Then... Halston just came out with their fragrance which has been compared to Extreme so I had to compare the two.
I sprayed one on one arm, the other on the other arm. Everyone chose Extreme. It's definitely woodsy... it reminded me a bit of Santos de Cartier but much cleaner.
I can't wait to go get a bottle this weekend!

NOT 4 HUSBAND OR GUYS WE TRIED TO GIVE THIS TO..
-05.23.10
Quick Take: heavy and has some jarring notes, my husband was questioned about the "odor", really disappointed with sample from sampler, very intense, some jarring notes as it wore off
My husband received a sample of this fragrance in one of the Sephora samplers, and I'm sort of glad he did, because I was curious about it after hearing a lot about it at a trade show and reading a lot of hype, both positive and negative. As far as the fragrance goes, I can't say that I'm very impressed with it. It's made from a whole lot of ingredients, probably more than I've ever seen as notes in any other fragrance, although some duplicate themselves in the various layers. When we put some of the sample on an index card, it first smelled like wet earth with a complexity of smells (which would be difference from fragrances or notes) and not like the more aromatic light smell of nature after it rains. It wasn't what I expected at all given all the substances that are included in this.
My husband and some male family members all tried the sample. It started off sort of okay, different on each of them, but within an hour or two, started fading away to something that I didn't care for. A few questionable comments were made by unknowns to my husband regarding the "the odor" and "the aroma" and he had some teasing about wearing cheap barbershop fragrance. (For my part, cheap barbershop fragrances smells sweet and nothing like this). There are a huge amount of notes in this, and seem to be well blended, but every so often as it faded away, there would be one or more than would jar the senses and not usually in a good way.
I ended up offering the sample to two men who were doing repairs. Neither liked or wanted it. Given what's in this fragrance, with all the excellent possibilities, I can't understand how this could smell the way it does. I do note that after doing some research on the specific notes I wasn't familiar with, I've discovered that many people do not like vetyver (also spelled other ways) and some of the other ingredients so perhaps that accounts for the dislike. It's a very deep heavy fragrance.
Since fragrance reacts differently to each person's body chemistry, I rarely recommend a fragrance. You might want to try this yourself.
