I love this product!! I am fair skinned and it took me 3 applications over 3 days to get to the color I wanted but it was not orange at all. Very clean to apply and no awful smell. I would recommend to anybody who wants a fast mess free way to use self tanner.

Quick Take: horrible smell
I must be doing something wrong because of all the great reviews, but this product just didn't do it for me. The color reminds me of the aftermath smell of getting a spray tan. It was disgusting and lingered on my body. Also, it is definitely gradual, and I tried applying it in circular motions and then up and down, and nothing worked. I still had a couple patches of lighter color. It also faded awfully. Won't be repurchasing.

Best Tanning Product, hands down

Quick Take: gradual, long lasting
I have been an avid user of TanTowel for about 3 years now. I think the best bang for your buck is the full body towel. If you use it right after you get out of the shower, and wait about ten minutes, you're good to go. This is the only product that hasn't stunk throughout an entire day. It has a nice citrus smell, doesn't streak and you don't get orange hands. Easily the best and easiest self-tanning product.

These are by far the best faux tanner I have come across! No streaks, doesn't leave me looking orange. I really LOVE these! Bad part is that it washes off after a shower or two.

I've used Tan Towels several times and have always had great results. I personally like the half body application better, but that is purely because i feel as though I can get a full body application out of it and then I get twice the towels for the same price (note that I usually do not do my stomach). The tan is even and never streaky. It is a simple white towelette that you rub in circles all over the areas where you want coverage. Dries relatively quickly (I usually wait a few minutes before putting on clothes). Tan shows up within a few hours. There is a light sitrus scent. Almost as great as Kate Somerville's and for a fraction of the price! It has never caused me to break out.

Does it work. YES I saw a golden color develop over 6 hours. However, it took 2 "full body" towelettes to cover my body (I wear a size 10). It was apparent that I missed a few places. I put it on before work and around 3pm my cubicle neighbor said she could smell it.

Great product! Application Tips!

These take a little practice, but the color you achieve is really stunning. I love how these have never stained my pores (like when that dark brown color settles in your pores or hair follicles, making it look like you have stubble on your legs). These towels don't do that. I like to start on a larger area, like my torso or thighs and go from there. You don't want too much product applied to your lower legs or arms right off the bat. Then, when everything has been blended over and then blended again, I set the towelette aside, thoroughly wash my hands and pick up the towelette using the backs of my hands. Then I rub it over my hands and wrists, never touching it with my palms. I throw it away and continue rubbing the backs of my hands and fingers and the smalls of my wrists together to really blend it all in. It is silly,but it works really well! I've never had orange palms or wrists this way.

I have tried most of the self-tanning products in the market and I keep coming back to Tan Towels. They are easy to use, give you a subtle glow that looks natural and rarely do they make you look streaky. The odor isn't too noticable. I will continue to be a fan!

I have fair to medium skin (a bit more on the fair side) and these towels give me a very real and long-lasting tan. Be careful to open up the towel fully for a more even application, and then you are less likely to streak. This is great stuff!

Quick Take: easy to use, great color, worth the price
These TanTowels are great if you're serious about self-tanning. I try dozens of different tanning sprays, lotions, etc - from drugstore to very upscale - and TanTowels are one of my mainstays.
They're very easy to use - towels drenched in tanning solution that you can just wipe all over your skin. Perfect for "layering" self-tanner, if anyone else does that - I generally apply a self-tanning lotion after the shower, and let that dry down, and then apply the TanTowels (and possibly various self-tanner afterwards - I'm sort of an addict!).
I find that the description of usage is true in that one towelette is "half a body" - I use two for head-to-toe tanning. It's lasting time is average and the "self-tanner" smell is there, but not too badly - but one amazing thing is that it never streaks! Just haphazardly wipe the towelettes all over and you miraculously won't get any weird patches of color or lines; it is SO easy. (Just make sure to cover all the area you want - if you miss a swatch of skin, it won't tan at all.)

Quick Take: long lasting
The TanTowel is the best self tanning product on the market - HANDS DOWN! I love them so much, I just grabbed 6 boxes. :) If you want natural color that lasts, I would recommend them.

I got two of these as a free sample when I ordered something. I am very fair skinned and didn't see any difference in my skin color after application. I also felt like I was out of "tanner" i.e. the towel felt dried out after I got through with my legs (which is where they recommend you start). I wouldn't recommend this product. Seems like a good concept, but it just doesn't execute.

these are very easy to use and ensure even application. a lot of my friends have streaky tans using creams and lotions... these towelettes are very easy to use and give you a gradual, even glow. great buy for the money!

I previously used the towelette for medium to dark skin tones even though I am very fair. I think I would purchase that one instead next time.
I used one towel on my legs & arms at night, after shaving my legs. I reapplied with a new towelette the next night to produce a nice glow. The application was mostly even, except around my knees and ankles.
The product dries quickly. The smell is alright, not bad, just similar to most self-tanning products.
Also, these are the 'half' towels. I used a 'full-sized' towelette before, and actually cut it in half & saved the other half for the next day. (I am 5'3" & 130 lbs, just for reference.)

this is my first time using self-tanner.. i was a bit of a skeptic at first.. i'm very pale and have been for years because i dont want my tattoos to fade, however, its summertime and i want to look nice for a special occasion coming up. i got these as a gift and i used one towel yesterday and one tonight.. i started on my thighs and did one leg at a time and then moved upwards.. i apply at night so i cant see a difference until the next day.. today i did notice that the first spot where i applied is a bit darker than the spots i missed and went back later to apply.. but thats to be expected.. also the "knuckles" on my toes and my fingers were a little orangey but nothing too bad.. i love the hint of color i got and i look forward to feeling better about myself while exposing some skin this summer and not having to actually be in the sun to get the color! YEY! it dries super fast, the towels say they are for 1/2 body that i got but honestly i used it on my whole body.. obviously it gets drier as you near the end but thats okay, i dont want my face super dark so it doesnt bug me that the towel isnt going to make my face super dark. soo pleased!

My main complaint is that when the tan does appear, it is very streaky, even though I applied it very carefully and have no problems with other self tanners that I have used. The smell is not great, so I applied it at night. The tan also does not last very long.
