AWESOME
-05.14.13
Quick Take: volumizing, defining, lengthening, awesome, worth it, the best mascara i have ever used
This mascara is awesome. I the sample size and fell in love. I would definitely buy this. It is worth all $24. Its coats well, it lengthens and separates the lashes. I was interested in bottom lashes but I couldn't put them on, this mascara gives me that look I was going for!!!!

Quick Take: volumizing, lengthening, defining
I used this after they discontinued the Lasting Lift mascara. Shiseido is the only product that doesn't drag my eyelashes down when I apply mascara. I have the typical asian short eyelashes that naturally point downwards so it's very tough for me to find a mascara that helps to lift my eyelashes up after I curl them. This product works very well.

Perfect Mascara
-03.11.13
Quick Take: good but brush needs some work
Well, I wouldn't call this perfect. The overall product is good, except the brush gets really full and I find I have to scrape off alot of the mascara and try to get it back in the tube before using the brush, otherwise I get way too much mascara out the first time.

Clumpy and sticky :/
-12.24.12
I received a GWP sample of this with a recent order, and I just got around to trying it. Unfortunately, not only is it extremely clumpy but even after 10-15 minutes of application, attempting a final curl of my lashes with an eyelash curler my lashes STUCK to it. Which doesn't happen with other mascaras... I'm glad I didn't rip any lashes out :( I'm sorry, but a mascara shouldn't be so sticky as to cause my lashes to stick to a curler post-application.

Okay, but nothing to write home about
-12.21.12
I tried this as a sample. I was hoping for a super good, defining mascara, but was disappointed. It didn't define very well at all and the brush gets pretty" globby". It's just an average mascara, nothing special.

Not as good as lasting lift, but pretty darn good
-12.04.12
Quick Take: volumizing, defining, smudge-proof
I've slept in it while camping with little smudging after a day of being outside (and that's saying something) and it keeps my stick straight asian lashes curled. It beefs up the volume (does not really lengthen, but that's ok) and stays on. I use an oil based face cleanser, like Amore Pacific or Boscia and it comes right off. For regular days, it does the job. It's no lasting lift and Shiseido was silly to get rid of it (check out the reviews!) but it's pretty good. I have yet to find a non-waterproof, easy to remove, smudge-proof volumizing, dry formula mascara that's as good as this one.

Waste of money
-11.14.12
Quick Take: a waste of money
Doesn't work well and difficult to remove. I generally like Shiseido products so I thought I would try the mascara but was very disappointed. It doesn't define lashes well. I had to put 2 coats on and it was difficult to remove even with eyemakeup remover pads-- almost like waterproof mascara. Threw it out after a week. Waste of $.

I had used a Shiseido mascara a few years ago that I really liked but it was discontinued. I figured I would give this a try. Unfortunately this mascara is not as good. It does a good job of coloring my eye lashes but after a few hours I have racoon eyes.. I ended up returning this.

Still the Best
-09.19.12
I have written a review about this mascara before. In the interim, I have tried others- Badgal lash, Givenchy, Clinque and now I'm done with the rest because this really is the best. Long, full and curled lashes is what this mascarea is all about. It's still tough to remove and expensive but worth it!

will buy again and again!
-09.07.12
Quick Take: volumizing, lengthening, clumpy, dramatic, long lasting, sleep proof
Ladies if you are looking around for the perfect mascara... THIS is it! I first tried this mascara as a free sample with my Sephora purchase, I tried it and instantly fell in love! If you are looking for a VOLUMIZING and LENGTHENING mascara then look no further, i feel like it adds a quarter inch to my lashes, no lie. If you don't believe me check out the photo I've attached, the proof is there.
Also, it doesn't come off. This is the kind of mascara I'm not afraid to wear when spending the night at someone's house. I wake up the next morning and it still looks perfect! no smudging or raccoon eyes. (thank goodness)
5 stars. will continue to buy over and over again :)

perfect!!
-08.04.12
Quick Take: volumizing, holds curl
i have sparse invisible lashes that get pushed down by my asian monolids and this mascara can still hold its curl!!!
it does NOT lengthen much but does give a considerable amount of volume.
if curling ability is your top priority, this mascara will work!! and it does come off easily if you let your remover soak in for a few seconds. Make Up Forever Sens'eyes remover takes it off well.

Waxy, hard to get off eyelashes
-07.21.12
Although this mascara goes on smooth and lengthens eyelashes, it is EXTREMELY waxy and hard to clean off. I ended up pulling a few eyelashes out when I attempted to wash my makeup off at the end of the day, even with a makeup remover. The texture of the mascara after it dries is unpleasant and felt like plastic congealed on my lashes. I'm tossing out the tube for sure.

Almost as good as Lasting Lift
-05.10.12
Quick Take: defining, lengthening, curling
I use to buy Shiseido's Lasting Lift Mascara till it got discontinued. That mascara was like the paragon of mascaras. Smelled good, lengthened insanely, and could curl my lashes without even using a curler. And I have long stick stubborn stick straight asian lashes. This mascara doesn't smell awesome, and it doesn't volumnize as much. But it does lengthen and definitely can hold a curl all day and all night if you sleep in it. It also doesn't smudge into raccoon eyes, which was something the Lasting Lift was amazing at as well. To me clumping means spider legs, but if some people refer to it as when the lashes stick together into thicker slivers, then yes it does that. But I love that, looks like a twiggy look. I prefer that over fanned out lashes. And like all mascaras spider legs clumps will happen when the mascara gets old and dried.

Hate it
-04.27.12
Quick Take: clumpy
I got this as a sample in one of my Sephora VIB packets and when I tried it out it was horrible. It goes on super clumpy. At first I thought maybe I hadn't applied it right (I had been rushing) but I tried it again the next day and the same results. The clumps made me think at first that the brush was putting too much mascara on at once. But when I took the mascara off at the end of the day there was hardly anything there! I think the formula is just too thick. I have super long lashes so it's hard for mascara to make them look bad. But this one was so clumpy it made my lashes look half the length they really are.

Great mascara
-04.20.12
Quick Take: volumizing, defining, lengthening, holds curl
I got this mascara in a sample so this is what I'm basing the review from. I got the sample over a year ago but just recently opened it. I bought the Nourishing Mascara Base from Shiseido and paired it with the sample. The combination is amazing! The base makes the mascara go on smoother with less clumping. With the mascara, I only put one coat on and put as many coats of the base as I want beforehand. By itself, the mascara is smelly out of the tube but the smell does go away. It is more of an alcohol smell and it seems to evaporate once the mascara dries. The mascara is very lengthening and leaves lashes soft. The mascara adds on a moderate amount of volume, making them more noticeable. I personally love the mascara with the base and I love the mascara by itself for my top lashes but I would not put on more than one coat. This leads to clumping.

THIS MASCARA IS BEST FOR STRAIGHT LASHES
-03.19.12
Quick Take: lengthening, defining, volumizing, keeps curls
...and I mean it! I have your typical straight asian lashes. I have tried all types of these so call "waterproof" mascara that supposively keeps your eyelashes curled but the same thing happens all the time: disappointment. I've tired Dior, Fairydrops, any brands you can think of recommended to asians but I'm telling you now NOTHING WORKS EXPECT FOR THIS BRAND.
YES, it does smell. YES, it's so hard to get off. But the people who are complaining about this product probably don't know what it is like to have stubborn lashes. (Neutrogena Oil Free Make Up Remover removes it very easily using a Q-tip). The smell isn't like a stinky smell. It's more like a chemical smell.
THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST WORKING MASCARA I'VE EVER HAD, HANDS DOWN.

Not worth buying.
-01.31.12
Quick Take: lengthening, volumizing, smelly
I did not read any further than the last two reviews below because I was going to write the same thing. First and foremost the smell is awful! I didn't smell it on the first application, but after the 3rd or 4th it became very pungent. While it lengthens and gives volume, so do other mascaras, and I do agree that is is extremely hard to take off, even with waterproof remover products. I'm glad I got this as a sample because I would have been really bummed had I paid for it. Hope this helps.

not the best
-01.24.12
Quick Take: lengthening, volumizing
Received this as a sample and loved it. Ordered the full size product and wasn't as impressed. When I first opened the tube, I thought it was dried out, the formula is very thick and doesn't stick to the brush well. Also, the brush is different than the one that came with the same (this isn't surprising, it's just that the sample's brush was much better for application). It makes your eyelashes long and full, but it can tend to be a little clumpy. Forget about trying to add a second coat-- impossible. It is also fairly difficult to remove. After a few months I noticed that it was leaving me with raccoon eyes at the end of the day. Will not be purchasing again.

Glad I didn't pay for this
-01.13.12
Quick Take: lengthening, volumizing
I received a sample of this mascara and was excited to try it since I usually love shiseido products. When I applied the mascara I noticed a very unpleasant smell. I figured after the mascara dried the smell would go away. No such luck, even hours later I would catch a wiff of the horrible smell and think "eeww I am not going to use this again" Also it was almost impossible to remove even with waterproof mascara remover. Suffice to say, I threw it away.

I have tried Dior Show & Sephora's volumizing mascara but this is my ultimate favorite. It does clump & difficult to remove at the end of the day, but my lashes have never looked better.
