Quick Take: volumizing, curl
Got the sample which stated it would add a bit of curl to my lashes, and it did! I have those straight, Asian lashes -which don't hold a curl very well. This base did help!
I can't say whether or not it actually gave my little lashes volume, (I use Benefit's They're Real mascara) but I like the results!

Quick Take: volumizing, curling
I have straight eyelashes that I need to curl every morning before I apply mascara but whenever I apply the mascara my eyelashes straighten out. Ugh! This however is magic in a bottle! I curl my eyelashes, brush some of this on, and then apply ANY type of macsara and they remain curled. I LOVE IT!

Ive been using this over 2 years now. By far the best. Doesn't mess up your lashes. Doesn't clumped. Makes your mascara even better. I pair it with my fairydrops scandal queen. Awesome! !!

I have fairly long lashes, but they are extremely straight. I have to use a heated eyelash curler in order to curl my lashes because regular curlers do not work.
This is definitely a must have if I want my lashes to stay curled. The inner lashes still fall back down after a couple hours, but the outer lashes stay curled for hours and hours. I don't think it adds more length but it definitely adds volume and curl.
I find that using a mascara brush that is lash separating is important because the lashes can get clumpy depending on the type of mascara.

Quick Take: lengthening, defining, holds the curl
I have typical Asian lashes: short and straight down, and finding mascaras that actually hold the curls for me has always been a challenge. This mascara base adds a bit volume and length, and helps hold the curl which totally saves my life. I'm not sure about the nourishing part but as a prep step for those who have lashes like mine, this stuff won't disappoint you.

I was skeptical to buy this as it is only available online and I usually do not use any mascara primer or base. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised and have been using this every day since I received it with my Josie Maran GOGO Mascara. Now, Josie Maran's GOGO mascara is great without this, but this product just adds a little more oomph to my mascara. It is a clear gel that you apply before the mascara or you can wear alone if you want a really natural look. I usually curl my lashes, apply this product and immediately apply my mascara after. This product definitely helps keep the curl longer in my lashes and adds more thickness to the lashes. I know it's pricey, but definitely worth the investment.

After using this along with my Lancome Definicils manscara I noticed my lashes were more separated and longer than before. I have one eye that is usually more spidery looking after applying mascara, and this base helps tremendously with that. My lashes also felt softer.

By far the best I've ever tried. Just one coat and it provides volume and length under a mascara that would not produce these results alone. I like it better then the Dior and Lancome mascara bases - by far. Though the Dior one is decent. To be honest I think you could easily produce a false lash look with your own lashes using this stuff! Will definitely re-purchase!

I have long lashes that are somewhat thin, yet even. This is a lightweight formula that really elongates/volumizes your eyelashes. Best test is to put it on your bottom lashes and see how it works. Put a 2nd coat of this product and you'll really have fluttery lashes. I hardly needed to put black mascara on because it already looked full/defined from the product. And it's not that awful white color! It's somewhat transparent.

I've been a fan and regular user of this mascara base for almost 3 years now.
This may be a little bit pricey, but it's worth it and you save more in the long run.
I use this under my cheapo drug store mascara, and it makes them last longer, my skinny little short asian lashes look fuller and longer, and the cheapo mascara won't run or smudge.
I decided to wear mascara to work and I used this as a base, welding out in the wind and rain blowing sideways, and it turned out fine. To be realistic, it wasn't all flawless, but I didn't get raccoon eyes as bad a if I were to not wear the base.
*Note: I used to sephora brow brush and lash comb (the metal one) to separate my lashes. I also don't wear make up often, but this product doesn't dry out as quickly as mascara does. So this tube can last me a year and a half. With proper hygiene practices, I didn't get an eye infection.
*Tip: apply this the night before you go to bed, apply it again the next morning and apply mascara.

I'm a total mascara junky (strike that, I'm a makeup junky). I love trying out different mascaras, and bases/primers. And I kind of gave up in the mascara base category because they make my stiff asian eyelashes fall flat after I curl them. But the Shiseido Nourishing Base doesn't! It actually enhances the curls and makes it curl and stay up even more! It also has the benefits of applying nourishment on top of giving you extra volume and length. It's a clear gel formula (slightly reminds me of very thinned out vaseline?) but it goes on slightly clear. I could wear it on it's own if I wanted to. But bottom line, it holds your curl, and I can even wear non-waterproof mascaras! HOLY GRAIL STATUS. I can't live without it!

First thing, I am asian, and i had a problem with my eyelashes staying up, any other primer that i used from Dior, tarte and such have always let me down. I've been using this primer for about 7 years, ever since the one before and its the only one that keeps my eyelashes holding up. I was devastated when they discontinued the other one but not for long they brought this back! MUST HAVE!

Quick Take: pricey but worth it for the curl that it holds.
Shiseido's clear mascara base thickens, nourishes, and protects lashes. My eyelashes used to be thin from overuse of waterproof mascaras; I didn't even realize it until I started using this primer and noticed how my lashes got longer and thicker. Best of all, it holds my lashes' curl. I can use an expensive mascara on top, and it'll still look good...and NOT be damaged. The price is worth it!! I've tried others, but have always come back to Shiseido. Others may be cheaper, but most were too heavy for my lashes that like to go straight given too much moisture or humidity. Shiseido

Ive been using this for 2 years. Its amazing. This an amazing brand... anyways. I have decent lashes without mascara. I love getting what every gal craves... false big lashes without the false part! I first curl my lashes with my Asian brand fave Jill Stuart lash curler! Google it.. it looks preppy and works! I'm not Asian but Asians claim to have short lashes so if u have average lashes like me... VAVOOM! even more impressive results. And after that I use my sheseido base... make sure you start at your top water line (bottom of top lashes closet to eye ball lol) and as you work your way up swirl the brush completely around kind like when you curl hair ??? :/ lol ... I use about two coats.. some people let it dry... I do my right eye then instantly grab my fairydrops mascara and go at it with the same swirl motion...the I take my base out and do the left! See my results! !!!!

This mascara base is clear, but when i put it on i can see the clear clumps on my lashes. I have asian lashes that don't hold curl. This holds curl same as loreal mascara i use. I tried using it by itself & w/mascara on top. Not impressed, not sure i'll buy again, pretty expensive.

Since Shiseodo discontinued their lifting mascara last year, I have been looking for a product that would give me lifted lashes to no avail. I tried every mascara Sephora has to offer to the same result, droopy sad looking lashes. I have long super straight lashes that would look great after curling them until I apply mascara. It was always the same story. The second mascara goes on them, they get straight and look deflated. This base is AMAZING! My lashes hold their curl with any mascara I use and trust me I have plenty. I can't recommend this miracle base enough!
