So Dissappointed

I love all the other products from this line but this one is not good. you can see the white powder after use. Love Sephora because they will allow easy returns

Give it a minute, it works
-05.13.13
Quick Take: easy to use
This stuff is pretty awesome. I'd give it five stars if it were a better value. I don't mind paying $22, but I thought the bottle was a little small for that price.
At first it seems it's not working any better than the drug store stuff, but once you mess with your hair a bit and let it soak into your hair, it gets rid of the oil. It also (somehow) makes my hair seem thicker and has more volume, but only after it's been in my hair for a few minutes. I don't understand why it's "anti-aging" - at least not yet.

It wicks away oil but on my medium shade hair shows up and makes me look like I have greys! The aerosol version in the ALTERNA line is much better and easier to use.

Best dry shampoo I've tried by far
-05.03.13
Quick Take: scented, easy to use, natural looking
This shampoo seemed a bit pricey for me at first, but the size of the bottle makes it so that I know I won't have to buy another one for another 6-8 months, if not longer.
I love how fine the texture of the powder is. That's because this formula lacks talc, which often makes clumps in your hair when in contact with oil.
My hair is a darker shade of brown, but with just a bit of combing of running through the roots, the powder's color fades. I love the smell, and I am pleased that so little powder goes a long way.
Make sure you put only a tiny bit of powder at the roots at a time.

It's okay, but not all that
-05.02.13
I got a fancy hair keratin-like process and I am not supposed to wash my hair as often. I got this product to try and stretch it an extra day. It's okay but really, I am just going to wash my hair instead. It does absorb some of the oil but i feel like my hair looks a little dull after i use it. For the price I'll skip it next time.

Works well, is white in color ...

Quick Take: helpful
I've been searching for a dry shampoo for "emergencies" and this one did the job. Only problem -- I may have used too much (first time using it) but I have dark hair and it turned me prematurely gray!!! Used a damp washcloth on my hair and brushed it a lot, not too bad -- and it lasted through the next day!!! Ideal for blondes I would think

Eh
-04.17.13
Quick Take: scented
My favorite Oscar Blandi dry shampoo is on backorder from the manufacturer so this was recommended by the associate at Sephora. It does what it's supposed to, I guess, but since it's so fine it leaves more of a white residue than I'm comfortable with and I find myself combing and shaking my hair out quite a bit to make it not look so white. It also gives my hair a weird texture/feel and seems to last only a short while before I have to re-apply. Also I miss the Fruity Pebbles scent of my Oscar Blandi :( Not my favorite, overall.

Not so great for my type of hair
-04.14.13
I tried a few dry shampoos that were cheaper drugstore one and they were also a powder. I thought I was just getting what I paid for so I decided to try this one. Unfortunately I have a lot of fine hair and dry skin so I can't shampoo every single day, but my hair looks oily on my day off, this dry shampoo left a bad residue in my hair and it still looked dirty. I actually had a better experience with aerosol drugstore brand.

Brunettes need not bother
-04.08.13
I really wish this dry shampoo would disappear because otherwise it worked wonderfully. My scalp felt nice and clean afterwards, but my roots were so gray it just wasn't worth it.

Finally, a dry shampoo that works!
-03.15.13
I have tried a lot of these ever since my stylist recommended that I wash my hair less. I was about to give up on the concept all together until I received a sample of this with another order and I love it! It blends in, doesn't clump up and actually lasts.

Good stuff - impressed!
-03.14.13
Quick Take: easy to use, natural looking
My hair stylist has been on me to not wash my hair daily to keep my color fresh and to decrease shedding. I've had super oily fine hair since puberty and have washed my hair daily ever since. I'm now 54! I was skeptical about trying this. Let me tell you - I am more than impressed.
I took the advice of another reviewer who suggested using your fingertips to get this where you want it. That worked well. The couple of times I sprinkled the coverage was too heavy.
I must have a much less sensitive sense of smell than some reviewers. When I open it and smell it, it smells very lightly of lemons. On my head I smell nothing.
MY HAIR ACTUALLY LOOKS BETTER WHEN I'VE USED THIS THAN WHEN I'VE WASHED IT AND STYLED IT!
I'm not kidding. I woke up with terrible greasy bed head (a daily occurrence), used this all over my scalp, combed it through, then styled my hair like I always do. It looks great.
I don't know how often I'll use this but I can tell you it works well for me.

Finally something that works!
-02.26.13
Quick Take: scented, natural looking, easy to use
Here's some background info for my review (skip to next paragraph for the review). I have blue hair. As in it's been double bleached from brunette and dyed blue. The problem with blue hair is that the blue dye washes out every time I wash my hair so I try not to wash it that often. Hence the need for dry shampoo. I've tried a bunch of different ones from drug stores but the spray-on ones leave my hair looking even more oily than when I sprayed it in. Also, the tips end up drying out.
But this Alterna dry shampoo actually sucks up the oil and my tips are fine. My hair gets oily after a day and a half but with this dry shampoo I was able to go many days before washing. It smells great. I love the scent (maybe not everyone does) and it doesn't make my hair all white (which happens when I spray too much spray-on dry shampoo from other brands).

Works great...but be careful
-02.25.13
Quick Take: easy to use
This is one of the best dry shampoos I have ever used. It works great when you don't have time to wash. I am a brunette and haven't had an issue with looking powdery with this. The down side is that if you use it too often it will dry your scalp and give you dandruff. If it wasn't for that, I would give it 5 stars.

Brunettes, you CAN use this product!
-02.23.13
Quick Take: good for sensitive scalps, time consuming application, quick acting formula
I read quite a few reviews on here about this product being a no go for use brün and raven haired beauties, but I assure you it works! Let me preface on why I took one star off: If there is one thing I wish it could be is a spray, only because I feel like the tedious act of parting my hair in small sections all over is a bit time consuming for something that is typically thought of to save time. But that's my only caveat. I don't know what they are doing wrong, but I have very dark, natural brown hair, like it's almost black on the underside, and I've never had an issue with grey roots. This is a "little goes a long way" product that DOES need to be applied as it recommends (shake in, massage with fingers, then brush), and I even find tapping it in then doing a small massage works best. I have a really, really, really sensitive scalp, like my hair fall out if I use gel and box dyes give me boils on my scalp kind of sensitive and I can actually use this product without any issues. Give it a whirl if you're willing to be patient with the application technique, and I think you'll like it.

definitely not for the brunettes
-02.19.13
Quick Take: not meant for brunettes
alterna is notorious for being gimmicky, yet, i somehow get seduced by their glossy packaging/advertising.... so every now and again i end up spending money on a product i will rarely use and ultimately toss or give away. anyway, if you're blonde, then go for it. try it, then let the world know whether this stuff is worth it or not. BUT, as a brunette, all i can say is DON'T BOTHER. you will end up with powdery white roots that will add about a decade to your appearance. save your money, my dark-haired beauties. PS, it doesn't smell that great.

Effective
-02.16.13
I generally prefer a powdery dry shampoo to a spray-in, because the powders are more effective for me. This cleans my roots well and revitalizes the volume in my hair. The powder is fine and absorbs nicely. Though, I have to be cautious not to apply too much, otherwise it leaves a faint white residue. I also have to admit that I am not a fan of the scent.

ive tried every dry shampoo carried by Sephora, and this one is by far the best! It smells nice(doe NOT have the Lysol lemon smell!) and it doesn't make my hair feel grimy or dirty.I have a head full of hair extensions, and this dry shampoo helps extend the dreaded 2 hour blow dry for a few extra days!
It is easy to apply, blends easily and lightweight!
