It smudges a lot less than most mascaras, but I wouldn't call it perfectly smudge proof. It also gets very dried out very quickly, I only used it a few times before it started getting too thick. I don't hate it, but I would not buy this again.

No smudge but no volume either

I am someone who seems to always have mascara smudge under my eyes no matter what brand I am using. I just tried this for the first time today, and I can report that there is no smudging. However, there is no volume, lenght or depth. One coat will basically just darken your lashes. I did try two coats which I don't like to to bc it can cause clumping/flaking, but it was needed for enhanced effect. So far no flaking. Overall I am happy with the product, but don't expect wow lashes.

Quick Take: volumizing, lengthening, defining, long-wearing
This is the only mascara I've *ever* used that doesn't smudge for me. Others have given me a dark smudge under the eyebrow after just a few hours, but this stuff stays put beautifully. It also goes on smoothly without clumping. After being unimpressed at first with its ability to lengthen/volumize, I wised up and discovered that it layers very, very nicely, and two coats does the trick for me. Give it a shot!

Unfortunately, this still smudged for me. I had high hopes...but by the end of my work day (i work 12 hour shifts), there was some black under my eyes...exactly what i was trying to avoid. Oh well.

It definitely smudges. It goes on nicely without clumping and I was hopefully that it would live up to its "no smudge" selling point. Sadly, that wasn't the case. I was definitely racoon eyes by the end of the day.

Bobbi really came thru for me one this mascara. I'm over 60 and trust me when I say I've tried my share of smudge proof mascara! I found that after 2 months it seemed to get thicker, but changing out mascara every so many months is a good thing to do anyway. So give it a try :)

This is the best mascara I've ever used. I've tried a lot of different brends but what I hate most about waterproof mascaras is that they are very heavy and thick. This one can be applied thinner or thicker depending on your preferencies. This is the only mascara that really lasts on my all day long. I was crying with this one on, I was sweating and swimming on the beach, it doesn't smudge. Love it! My mom wants it too.
The only downside of this mascara is thatit's really hard to remove. You gonna need a really good oil-based make up remover to make this thing dessappear from your face. But it's small price to pay for a mascara that doesn't affraid of anything!

Truly a "Five-Star" Mascara

Quick Take: lengthening, truly waterproof, buildable
Finding a good waterproof mascara is one of the most challenging tasks I have ever faced. Years ago when the mascara I had been using was no longer available, I ended up spending a "small fortune" in the attempt to find a mascara that was truly waterproof (in every situation) and easy to remove. It truly took me me several years to find something I was actually happy with. Then, a few months ago, I went to re-order and found I was once again in the same predicament. Talk about frustration! So, I spent a lot of time reading reviews and finally decided to give Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara a try, hoping I wasn't "throwing my money away."
I was a bit surprised to find that the tube (and wand!) is shorter than the brands I have used in the past. I didn't think I would like it, but have found that it gives me so much more control in the application process than the longer wand does. So, I give it a star for that!
The mascara goes on smoothly and evenly -- it is not "clumpy" or "fibrous" like so many. I personally like a very natural look to my lashes, so really only use mascara for color. I use a "spoolie" to comb through immediately after application to achieve the natural looking lashes that I want. If the occasion calls for a more dramatic look, this mascara is very "buildable." For that, I give it another star!
My mascara got a good workout on the second day of usage when I had to say goodbye to family members moving away. I shed buckets of tears, but that mascara just hung in there with no streaking or smudging. Definitely "waterproof!" For that, I give it another star!! (Probably this one feature is worth all five stars!)
I have yet to have a day where I find flakes of mascara on my face -- which is something I have had to contend with in the usage of all my other mascaras. No flakes is worth another star...
Eye makeup remover removes it easily and completely. That is definitely worth another star!
Five stars -- This mascara is truly deserves all of them!

Was excited about ordering this mascara after reading reviews but when I received it, the tubes content was dry. I was unable to get any color or volume on the brush. I tried adding a little water which didn't help at all. I'm not happy with this product at all!

I really like this mascara. I have sensitive eyes and this mascara stays put throughout most of the day and is definitely waterproof. I like the brush size. I don't have long lashes so this brush helps to get as close to the eye lid as possible to get a good curl on the lashes.

I have shorter length lashes, that are just straight, no curl to them whatsoever. I usually have to overcurl my lashes, then put on mascara, then the curl turns out perfectly after mascara application. With this mascara, you curl to your desired curl, then apply one or two coats (i only really need one). I don't lose my curl and no clumping occurs either. I have even applied this mascara around 4am, got on a plane and flew out for a business day trip, returned around 1am the next morning, and this mascara didn't run at all!
I use philosophy purity facial cleanser and the mascara washes off with no issues.

Quick Take: a "must have" in my makeup bag, truly waterproof/smudgeproof, easy to remove if you know how
I have to wear waterproof mascara and this one works! Several others have complained about the difficulty in removing it. The rep from Bobbi Brown told me it would easily come off in hot water, and it does... no rubbing or pulling. It looks like little black tubes coming off, but never fear! It's not your eyelashes! :)
