What a mess!

Quick Take: definitely not worth the money
I was really looking forward to receiving this item because the eye shadow colors looked really appealing online. When I opened the Sephora shipping box, I noticed black smudges on the inside of the box and on the packing paper, but didn't immediately realize what it was. Other items in my order were in perfect condition, but when I opened the Anastasia eye shadow palette box, blue-black powder (the darkest shade in the palette) went everywhere - and stuck to everything. The blue colored shadow had completely pulverized, presumably during shipping. I had to wash the clothes I was wearing at the time I opened the box and I had a hard time cleaning the product off the counter (granite) and in the sink. I then realized that the shadow is of poor quality (too soft) and would probably crumble easily after a few uses and would very likely be very messy to use. I had to pack the product in a zip lock baggie to return it for a refund in order to prevent it from coating the inside of the padded envelope. I will not be reordering this product.

Product will not hold up

Quick Take: not worth the money
I have shopped at Sephora online for many years and this is the first product I have ever had to return. The palette arrived damaged. The darkest color (blue) had completely pulverized and was all over the inside of the shipping box and packing paper. At first, I wasn't sure what the mess was and I opened the palette. The pulverized blue powder went everywhere. The colors looked nice online, but the quality of this shadow will not hold up to use (very soft) and would, no doubt, be VERY messy to use. I will stick to brands that I know produce better quality shadow and not order this product again. I had to pack the palette in a plastic zip-lock bag for return shipping to prevent the powder from totally coating the inside of the envelope.

Quick Take: portable
If you don't have a chance to check this out in the store before purchase, don't buy it. Although the shadow is quite smooth, the actual colors are much, much brighter than they are on the product image. The light pink is really pink, and the second shade is a tawny gold. I would much rather Anastasia create a palette with four panels of 4 eye shadow squares in each panel. Ideally, one palette with four of the best Illumin8 palette colors (including the discontinued 2011 gift set). Sigh.

An impulse purchase that I will never regret!

Quick Take: portable, good value
I basically picked up this pallete because of the teal and deep blue shades and I needed one other item to use my Beuty Insider gift card. I accidently made an excellent choice, all the shades are wonderful and this is now my go-to eye shadow! I have seen a difference in the appearane of my fine lines in the eye area (I'm 53, not too wrinkly yet but that day is coming) and the product goes on smoothly and blends extremely well. The price is right too! I'm a huge fan!

Excellent and Flattering

I find myself having a very difficult time finding shades that flatter/match my Bisque 4Warm/NC25 olive asian skintone. This palette No.5 is extremely flattering and wonderful at reducing appearance fine lines. My husband never compliments my makeup, actually hates when I cake it on but when I put this on he had said I love the new makeup you just purchased.

love the colors but...

Quick Take: high pigment, gorgeous colors, smooths eyelid wrinkles
I had gotten a sample of this palette and loved the shadows so I bought the full size. The great thing about this palette is: I'm 42 with wrinkly eyelids & thought i was past being able to wear shimmer. But these shadows go on so smooth! They completely cover up the wrinkles and smooth out my eyelid! I don't know how but it's true. The only drawback is I can't wear any eye cream underneath. If I do, even with a shadow primer, the shadows look oily and disappear halfway through the day. Eye cream is essential to my routine, so I need a shadow that can be worn over it. But I will say I still wear these at night. The colors are highly pigmented, complement each other well, I can wear all 5 in the palette, and they smooth the eyelids. So overall I would recommend.

By far my favorite makeup product

I'm totally hooked on this one. I'm not the kind of girl who uses a lot of makeup so I like products that can multi-task and this one not only meets my needs but exceeds my expectations. It's a great color palette, the best one out of the illumin8 line. My favorite color is the shimmery beige one on the right, which I use as eye shadow base, brow bone highlighter, undereye concealer and nose highlighter. I even use it on above my brows! lol. I'm a light skinned asian girl and this color totally works for me. Also I can't leave out the skin firming effects it produces. Trust me it really does make a difference!! I wish more brands were going this route, combining skin care properties with their shadows and other makeup. I hope Anastasia will continue making this product forever, I will be a fan for life. If any rep for the company is reading this, please never change a thing about this product! It's a gem for sure. ;)

Quick Take: portable, good value
Interestingly, depsite being highly pigmented when applying, it doesn't last an entire work day without a setting mist (for me, anyway). I love the range of colors: the light pink is mostly matte with small "sparklies" (something I prefer over a shimmer, believe it or not, for my age); the light bronze goes on darker than it looks like it would; the dark brown and pine green mix well for my brown eyes, and the dark blue is actually great for the eyelid crease without being too dramatic.The brush inside is surprisingly nice with a larger end for the lid and a smaller end for lining. I haven't noticed dramatic improvement regarding the antiaging claims, but I'd purchase this eyeshadow again.

Quick Take: portable, good value
This does seem to work as described. I like the way it goes on even without a primer. I am not a fan of shimmery shadows and that is my only complaint. I ordered the no. 5 online and couldn't really tell but the colors are really nice. I would like a mat color for the base so next time I actually visit the store I will try the samples. I would, however, recommend this product.

Quick Take: portable, pigmented, eye treatment
I was able to sample this, and I really liked the quality, colors and texture of this kit. Please do not go by the pic above as it is nothing like the actual color. The darkest color to the right is a navy blue which is almost black. The far left shadow is pink, the second color is a shimmery bronze, the third small color is a teal green and the next half shadow is a chocolate brown. I don't normally wear copper, but the pink/copper combo is lovely. I haven't experimented with the other colors yet, but they all seem soft and blendable. The darker colors are very pigmented, so beware, Color lasted average. I think this might be a bit overpriced, however they are supposed to contain eye treatment, so maybe it's warranted. I will probably buy a full size of either this palette or something in the future that has colors I like a bit better, I can't comment on the treatment aspect of the shadows as I only has a sample.

The reason I purchased these shadows was because of what Anastasia claimed these shadows to be. anti aging and smoothing the lids. colors were way to sparkly for my taste, powdery and in no way whatsoever did they smooth my lids. I returned right away.

Quick Take: portable, good value
I was looking for an eyeshadow palette with a nice mix of neutral colors and bolder shades. This was exactly that. The colors are universally flattering, and the shadow stays put nicely. I took off a star, however, because I'm not a fan of the brush they supplied (no big deal--I just use my own), and I didn't see any of the miraculous anti-aging benefits this product boasts of. But I wasn't really looking for that, anyway, and I don't quite need wrinkle reduction yet.

BARELY OKAY, WITH NOTHING EXCITING

Quick Take: portable, shade issues, too expensive for what it is
I was given some Anastasia products. I got two of the Illumin8 With Youthful Synergy Complex Eye Shadow Palettes, Palettes Numbers 4 and 5. Number 4 falls into that category of "What were they thinking?" while Number 5 is a palette which contains shades I can use. The shadows themselves have been formulated to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I do note that the description reads that the shadows have been formulated "to help reduce THE APPEARANCE of fine lines and wrinkles" not "help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.." That's a big difference there.However, I'm not expecting miracles from any eye shadow, as nice as that would be.
I find the shadow to be of a nice consistency, and they applies easily except once they're applied, there's a problem with fallout. I tried with moisturizer as suggested, I tried with primer, I even tried with glitter primer. All are layerable, long lasting, and don't fade once they got on but there was some under-eye cleanup required. A few parts of the cakes were sort of turned chunky/crumbly - I don't know if that's a quality control issue, or something else. The problems with palette 4 is that there's way too much fallout on some of the shades when applied, especially the white with gold overtone/shift. The colors are hard to work with in Palette 4.. I just don't like that palette. I can't see that it would work for many women. It even surprises me to see it offered by a company like Anastasia. Palette Number 5, on the other hand, while not exciting, at least contains shades I can work with more easily. I'm not really impressed with palette 4 because of the hard to work with shades and the fallout issues. Palette 5 has more workable shades, because the majority are softer in tone/shade, and there wasn't as much fallout of pigment. At least on my computer, the Palette 5 shades look different than the swatched shades.
Because of the price (compared to other brands), quality control issues and/or fallout, you need to decide if they'll work for you. I like the idea that these help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but what good is that going to do me if there's issues with shades that I'm not going to use? If I had not been given them, I would not have bought them. Palette 5 is way better than 4, but still could use some improvement.

Great colors, very messy

My husband really likes these colors on me. He actually purchased this for me. However, the eyeshadow is so soft that it crumbles badly. It gets all over my face when I put it on. Alot of the product gets wasted because of this. This is very expensive for this to be happening. If my husband didn't love the colors so much I would take it back. I use the light pink all over, the copper brown in the crease, the darker brown just in the outer corner and the dark blue as a liner on the top of the lash line. It is very beautiful but I do not know if I will purchase again. I see they have different palllets so maybe I will try one of those.

I don't know how they do this but i beleive I have seen an improvement in my eyes, I have been doing alot lately to work on this problem, but I think just using this brand of shadows has helped alot.

Quick Take: good value
Eye shadow is silky and easy to apply. Brushes are small but allow more precise shading. Some of the shadows were broken - needs better packaging to cushion so that the shadow doesn't break apart and get all over everything else.
