I was excited after reading all the great reviews of this product, but unfortunately I don't believe any of those people have hair like mine. My father is black and my mother is white with very fine hair. I ended up with frizzy curls, but my hair is very fine (as opposed to thick) when it really comes down to it. This flat iron left my hair straight, but fried and puffy.

I'm not the type to write reviews, nor to drop $225 on my hair, but I had to write my review for this. I needed a hair iron that would be a good investment (last long time, etc), so I purchased this one about 3 months ago. It heats up super fast, no option to change temp. but that's okay. It doesn't really straighten any faster than any other iron that goes up to 450 or so, but that's okay. What I have noticed, is that when I straighten my hair with this iron, my hair feels soooo smooth and soft until I wash it. It does however, curl really fast. I use it for curling and love it. I know that this iron will be with me for years, so I feel it is a great buy!! The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because it didn't really amaze me like I expected. Nonetheless, it's probably the best straightening iron out there.

Quick Take: amazing
This is my favorite flat iron... Over the years I've purchased several different brands of flat irons from CHI to Paul Mitchell but the GHD is the best one in my opinion. It heats up super fast and doesn't pull your hair and will even turn off on it's own after a certain amount of time so you don't worry in case you run out of the house before turning it off. Money well spent :)

Reliability is an understatement

Quick Take: reliable, high quality, heats up fast, high heat, sleek
5.5 years ago I bought my first ghd straightener. This past weekend it finally started to short out, but seriously, it lasted 5.5 years! Every Chi straightener I had before that died within a year. This is by far the most reliable product I have every purchased, beauty or otherwise. I'm going to Sephora today to purchase another one and I have absolutely no problem spending $225 for another one, the value can't be beat.
Oh, and it is by far the most amazing straightener ever. It heats up in SECONDS! Amazing hairstyle results. I can't recommend this product enough.

I have pretty frizzy and thick hair and this GHD has really changed my life! It straightens my hair so well and takes only about 20 minutes. Love it!

Has an awesome feature of turning itself off after not being used for a duration of 30 minutes, for all of us forgetful people (LIFE SAVER).
Does really create sleek hair reducing a lot of frizz.
Cord of a good length.
Heats up INSTANTANEOUSLY.
Eons better than the "chi".
Great Warranty.
I'm a proud owner of my GHD.
However given there might be better irons out there, but this is the best one I've come across. It's awesome and a very reliable straighter for everyday use to both rookie-advance hair doers.

I first got the classic 1 inch styler for Christmas and immediately fell in love with it. I had it for a little under a year and my mom (who naturally has VERY curly hair) loved it so much she took my classic styler and purchased me the professional 1 inch styler peacock edition. It is so gorgeous and works amazingly well. It is very gentle on your hair (my hair breaks easily), and makes it very shiny and soft. It also does amazing bouncy curls that last all day and can create waves or crimps. I reccommend getting a special edition styler only because they are so pretty! My classic styler did not come with a case, but my professional one did and it is very handy and I use the case every day to protect it. I use my little sister's drug store straightener when I was in a hurry and it does not even come close to how smooth and gently this tool works. It heats up in seconds, is very sleek and pretty. You will never go back to a drugstore straightener and I believe it will last many years.

This is the best flat iron I've ever used! Of course flat ironing your hair is going to damage it, but the GHD makes it less damaged than using a different flat iron. I've had mines for over 5 years and it's still going strong! Worth every penny.

I was afraid when I purchased this flatiron that it would not live up to all of it"s hype....but did it ever. I have dry, thick frizzy hair and I always had to straigten my hair several times to acheive the desired look and then restraighten it daily but with the GHD I literally put it to the test and did one sweep with each section of hair and that was it. I did not have to pass each section of hair several times as I did with previous flatirons nor did I have to restraighten my hair the next morning when I got up. Not only did it straighten my hair easily, my hair has never felt so silky. I am so happy with this purchase that I had to write a review which is something I have never done before.

I bought this wonderful flat iron a month ago and let me tell you I totally love it. It leaves your hair shiny. I know its a little expensive but its worth the $225 I recommend it to you.

As someone that has really thick, straight hair it is almost impossible for me to curl my hair and have it last for more than 20 minutes. Most of the time I end up with a barely-there wave that smell like crispy burnt hair.
I use this styler for curling my hair and it is amazing! It doesn't snag my hair, doesn't leave it smelling burnt, and curls it perfectly and holds so well I barely need hairspray.
I'm obsessed.

I want to start off by saying that I was a beauty consultant for Sephora for a long time and have used thousands of the products Sephora carries and I have never written a review....until now!
I love my GHD!
This is the second one I have purchased (i just had to go to the gold) and if you are looking for a great iron that heats up faster than you can brush through your hair, only take one pass to get that perfect straight hair, handles drops on bathroom floors and into sinks and cross country travel and still works as good 2 or 3 years later as the day you bought it.....let me introduce you to GHD!
Does it cost more than a CHI, yes, but you will go through 2-3 CHIs while this one is still going strong. You get what you pay for and this is worth every penny.
Just to add facts and not just my undying love.... I have fine but tons of curly ringlet hair attached to a white head. When it's humid or out of the shower I have fro like hair....and all I need for Jennifer Aniston straight hair is one pass with my GHD and a dime size of no frizz serum and I'm good all day.
I hope this helps anyone debating, take the plunge and you won't regret it!

I purchased my GHD in June 2011. I had a CHI for 3 years and the electrical box literally fell apart because I had dropped it so much and taped it as well. So when my CHI stopped working I used my mom's T3, which works great, but I wanted one of my own. I did my research and my best friend is a hair dresser and told me about GHD being the "bentley" of flat irons. I bought it and I have not been let down. It works well on my hair, which is relaxed and super thick. I use it when I have hair extensions and everything. It beeps when it heats up so I know its ready! Has not ONCE let me down! I have been all over with it and it still works great!!! A must have!!!

I have thick, wavy hair that does anything BUT straighten naturally. Through high school and college I went through 2 CHI straighteners and used a Paul Mitchell straightener along the way, never being overly thrilled with any of them. After my second CHI died, I spent a lot of time researching the best options out there and GHD came up repeatedly with very little negative (aside from price). I decided to give it a try and 4 years later have not regretted it once. I use the straightener almost everyday and it never lets me down. I have yet to find any tool that can come close to comparing with what this has to offer. If or when my straightener dies, I will buy another GHD without considering any other options. It is simply that great of a product.

I got my GHD 5 years ago from Sephora and it has consistently performed expertly from day 1. Brilliantly quick heat up time (faster than you can take your hair out of a ponytail and put on lip gloss) and hair-sensitive heat adjustment - the styler adjusts heat levels to your hair type (there isn't even a heat temp dial to worry about). Plus, obvs, the results are unmatched. No need to make multiple passes through the same piece of hair to get it perfectly straight and possibly damage your hair - this flat iron does the job in one pass.
Finally, the biggest seller for me is the abuse it has put up with. I travel quite a lot and it adjusts to different voltage outputs in different countries without worry of frying it; I've spilled water on it (like ALL over the electric part - it wasn't plugged in) and let it sit for 2 days and it was just fine, and also a giant bottle of hair gel exploded in flight and got all over the on/off switch, in the creases that house the electric bits, and on the cord part where it meets the housing. I was sure it was toast, but I just wiped it off, let it sit for a few days, and it's good as new. Seriously aside from working like a dream these things are built to last.

I was not thrilled to spend $225 for a new flat iron when mine over heated and died while traveling in Europe. However, I am so glad i replaced it! There was a dramatic difference in the softness of hair using the ghd vs. my old iron and my curly frizzy hair seems to be tamed much better!
