Worth TRYING if you're looking for a new primer
-06.03.12
Quick Take: lightweight, fast-absorbing, long lasting
I love the long lasting power this gives my makeup. It DOESN'T FEEL GREASY. Here's the rundown on this product:
- A little goes a long way. Although some may say it seems very "liquidy", runny, etc..as a makeup artist I will tell you that this is the kind of consistency you want in a primer if you want a little to go a long way and if you want your face to fully absorb the product.
-Hydrating/Moisturizing which is what you want if you have dry or oily skin. Here's why: if you have oily skin, it's because your body and skin produce more oil to compensate for some hydration you may lack. The more you moisturize, the less oily you will be. So don't be turned off by a product just because it's "hydrating" and your oily. The less you moisturize, the more OILY you will be.
- I have combination and acne prone skin. THIS WILL NOT CAUSE YOU TO BREAK OUT. Good makeup starts with good skin care. You can't always blame the makeup for any breakouts. Sometimes it's the cause of a flare up, but not all the time.
As always, if you're hesitant about buying anything SAMPLE IT. Sephora staff is always willing to give you a sample.
I will admit: I read all the reviews before buying this (who doesn't?). I was also hesitant to commit to buying this because Stila necessarily hasn't had the best reputation or products compared to MUFE, Laura Mercier, etc.
They have revamped their entire line and added new products worth trying and this is definitely one of them. Hope this helps.

Not a Fan
-03.29.12
I really don't understand why this has such high reviews. I found this be neither a good primer nor a good sunscreen. The formula is sticky, thick, and difficult to spread. I'm not normally super picky about personal care products, but this made my face feel slimy, like it was covered in a layer of grease. The product doesn't spread well, takes a long time to dry, and didn't make my foundation apply better. I was disappointed for this not to work and immediately returned it after one use. I would definitely not buy this again, nor could I recommend it.

so moisturizing!
-03.07.12
Quick Take: lightweight, fast-absorbing, evens out skintone, moisturizing, addictive!
I have pretty dry skin, especially in the cold weather, but this primer has made a HUGE difference in the way my skin feels! Now it is soft and smooth all day long, no more dry patches. This Hydrating Primer also helps to even out the redness in my cheeks and give me a more youthful glow :)

Great water based primer
-03.01.12
Quick Take: evens out skintone, lightweight, fast-absorbing, water based
Every primer I tried made me break out. Not this one and it holds moisture in all day. I have dry skin so this is the perfect primer. Love it!

Quick Take: lightweight
I've tried many primers and have fallen in love with Stila's! I love how it's so moisturizing without any greasy feel. My makeup looks great over this product. I've tried other products three times the price and feel this one is just as good. The feel of it is more like a lotion...sometimes primers feel slick, this one just feels hydrating. Love it! Oh yeah, it also gives your skin a beautiful glow!

Very good multi-tasker
-02.24.12
Quick Take: evens out skintone
Skin care is very important to me, but I was trying to cut down on the number of steps in my routine as well as the number of products I am using. I really like that this is a moisturizer with SPF (crutial), as well as a primer. It smooths over my skin nicely, and doesn't make me look too shiny later, which is one of my ongoing issues.
I have been making an effort to use as many "natural" products as I can, and Stila is considered to be a decent brand in that regared. But I did deduct one star since there is still some question about the health effects of the ingredients.

Stila hydrating primer works really well with my dry skin. I like the soft, light weight cream. It also provides SPF20 which is another component which I love about the primer because it protects my skin. This product is reasonably priced and remember a little goes a long ways!

Disappointed -its going back. Doesn't help makeup glide on at all. Not sure what this stuff is but it shouldn't be marketed as a primer

Having normal to oily skin but also needing my makeup to stay put longer than without primer, this product was recommended to my by someone at Sephora. This product does not feel heavy on the skin, is not greasy, and does a great job. SPF an added bonus. Ingredients to not irritate skin or cause irritation around eye area.

I use this everyday and it's great in the summer because it's not greasy or heavy.

nice primer
-07.22.11
Quick Take: evens out skintone, fast-absorbing
this primer is nice, but it's a little thick and it does tend to seperate a little but I just shake the bottle and it mixes back up.
I like it cause it's a moistureizer and primer in one. Did take some getting used too but once you do it's nice to get both of those done in one step versus two.

has webbed feet and feathers, it's a duck. But Stila Hydrating primer ain't no primer.
It's a pretty good sunscreen but has none of the properties of a primer (making foundation apply more smoothly and long lastling.)
Your best bet if you already own this and cannot return it is to use it as sunscreen under a good quality primer.
Stila, you let me down. I would have been happy buying a makeup/face friendly sunscreen from you but you marketed this all wrong.

This adds a fantastic glow to my face. Burns a tad when applying, so I don't like that part. It's worth it though.

Quick Take: lightweight, moisterizing, makes skin feel soft
Stila's Hydrating Oil Free Primer has to be one of the best primers on the market! My make-up and skin look fantastic after I apply this oil free primer! I live in AZ, so I'm always making sure that my make-up is not melting off of my face! This primer has helped my make up stay in place and it moisturizes my skin, too! This primer is so worth the $34.00. Plus, a small amount goes a long way!

I used to use the Stila hydrating primer and loved it--when it was white in color. Now it's yellow and I can't wear it!
