Works!
-09.14.12
Quick Take: easy to use
It works. The second you spray it on, you'll see a difference - hair looks a little more volumous (I have fine hair but a lot of it). However, it's key to use your fingers and hands to scrunch up the hair into waves immediately after spraying. That's the best way to achieve that wavy, back-from-the-beach look. I can also feel it on my hair - a bit of stiffness - but only If I touch it. I don't think anyone looking would be able to tell. Smells good, too.

Great
-08.05.12
I really love anything Alterna. So I figured I'd try this stuff. But my hair is very damaged and I'm waiting for it to grow out ... It didn't really work on my stick straight damaged hair. But I know that once my hair does grow out it'll work great because it did give it some volume and made it wavy. Works great with a little hairspray! Can't wait to try it once my hair grows out.

Beachy!!
-07.31.12
I have hair that has soft waves. I usually scrunch it after shampooing to try to get that beach wave look. Most products I've tried are either too stiff or ineffective at helping me keep the wavy look all day. This product is the BEST I have ever tried. It is soft to the touch and not only do my waves stay well into the evening, but I still have waves the next morning!! That is amazing!

worse than using nothing for me
-07.24.12
I have long fine hair that is superstraight and this did nothing for me at all--just made my hair stiff and dirty looking, no waves. I bought bumble and bumble surf spray instead and it's superior

Good stuff
-07.23.12
Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight
It does work well but my hair is really curly so this product did not have the "beach wave" effect I was hoping for. Although I do like it but use another prodtuct with it (herbal essence curly spray gel). With both of them I get the look I want!

I didn't notice any difference in the way my hair looked. I think this is a waste of money. Mouse does a better job at creating waves.

Amazing Stuff, love love love!
-07.05.12
Quick Take: amazing, must-have
Let me describe my hair first: curly, thick, long, takes forever to dry. I was a bit skeptical about this spray when I bought it, but I can honestly say that it has exceeded my expectations. My old routine included 3 different hair products, a mousse and a blow-dryer, but things have changed since this texturizing spray. Since I purchased this product I have not used a blow dryer on my curls ONCE & because of this, my hair feels so much healthier. I find that it tames the frizziness even in humidity, which is something I've always had a problem with. The only downside is the bottle is quite small, so I really don't feel like you're getting your money's worth. If you're like me & have been searching for a healthier method of shaping curls, you won't mind this splurge. Bottom line, I love it and plan on using it for a long time.

AMAZING texturizer for wavy hair!
-06.15.12
Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, non-sticky, moisturizing
I normally shy away from wave sprays. I've tried several, including Fekkai's summer spray and all were horribly sticky. This spray is FABULOUS especially when used in conjunction with the Sun Recovery spray. I finish with the Sun Mist shimmer spray. I can even blow dry my hair after applying. To have done that with other wave sprays would have spelled a sticky, knotty disaster. My hair is just too long to let it air dry, as I'd have wet marks down my back and it would take hours.
My hair is LONG...almost down to my waist and I was afraid this would turn it into a sticky mess and be returned. I can't stop touching my hair though...it is so soft and not sticky in the least!
Just like with the Recovery spray, Alterna is spot on in the spritz mechanism being a fine mist. This is to be used VERY sparingly. If you are getting sticky hair from this you are using WAY TOO MUCH. Considering how much hair I have, you'd think I'd go through the bottle in a few weeks like I do with other hair styling products, but not with this. A dab will do ya. I can't stress this enough.
My hair is wavy already, so I cannot attest to how this would do with straight hair. As it emphasizes wave, I do not think this will make straight hair wavy. It just doesn't have enough hold. So I would disagree with the statement in the product description that it gives wave to all hair types. It will emphasize you waves if your hair already has some of that wave/texture/curl.
I love the smelll...not overpowering but enough to have people say "ooooh you smell good" and PERFECT for summer. It won't compete with my fragrance for summer and in fact I think it will complement it just nicely.
Again, I encourage you to give it another go before returning it if you find it was too sticky. I probably used just a few spritzes over my entire length of hair, and I did not apply to the scalp area. I applied it started a few inches from the top of my head and downward. Just fantastic! And the fact it has UV protection is an added bonus!

Time Saver!
-06.06.12
Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, non-sticky
I'm a mom of three and I don't always have time to style my hair. This is perfect! If I have time I can blow-dry my hair, give it a few spritz, and give my hair a couple of twirls with my fingers and its done! If blow drying is not an option then I spray my hair while its damp and scrunch it up. It dries perfectly!

This product did not work for my medium to thick, long hair. Just left it feeling greasy and looking like a tangled rats nest

Did not care for this product, but my hair is thick and long so maybe if you have fine hair it will work.

refreshing and light texture & scent
-10.05.11
Quick Take: non-sticky, lightweight, easy to use
I've been a fan of Fekkai Beach Waves product and decided to give this a try. I like it slightly better; however, the scent isn't as beachy as Fekkai and it comes in a much smaller bottle. Bummer. But I guess if I look at it as a seasonal purchase, then it's worth it - as it lasts all summer!

STRONG SMELL
-09.12.11
Quick Take: lightweight, non-sticky, heavily fragranced
I have been searching for an effective beach spray for tousled waves that doesn't contain harsh chemicals. Hard to find since so many products on the market have parabens/sulfates/petrochemicals/phthalates etc. This one fits the bill, ingredient-wise, with the Natural Seal. Unfortunately, it didn't do much for my hair. I sprayed, I scrunched, I curled and there was no big difference in the look of my hair with or without the Alterna spray. I have naturally wavy hair. The conditioner I use is heavily moisturizing so my hair is generally very soft and smooth post-wash and my guess is that the spray would be more effective on less heavily conditioned or unwashed hair.
The smell was too strong for me. It smells like orange creamsicle. Not a bad smell, just TOO SWEET and TOO STRONG. If Alterna could dial it back a few notches on the fragrance end, I would try it again on dry, unwashed hair. Since the smell is too strong for me though, I returned it. I would recommend trying it outside of the store (either buying on-line or spraying the tester in-store and then walking outside) since there are so many competing smells in the Sephora store that it can be hard to tell just how strong it is until you've actually left.

Love, Love, Love It!!
-09.11.11
Quick Take: non-sticky, lightweight, easy to use, one that smells nice, one that doesn't make hair appear greasy, provides great texture, is good for layered hair
This spray is one of the best I've ever used, if not the best. It's lightweight, not sticky, and most important for me, it doesn't make my hair look greasy. It smells really nice and is perfect for a tousled and textured hair style. I use it every day, it really makes my layers stand out more. I highly recommend it!

This stuff is great
-09.02.11
Quick Take: non-sticky, easy to use
I have very fine, straight hair, but a lot of it. Usually I have to use many different products and tools to get body in my hair. Not the case with this, a few spritzes and it lasts all day. I want a bigger bottle!

Way better than Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray...
-08.28.11
Quick Take: non-sticky, lightweight, easy to use, amazing
This product is so great! It makes my hair soft and shiny and gives it beautiful waves and ringlets. My hair is naturally wavy and this spray really enhances that and makes it look great! It kind of makes it look as if I used a curling iron on my hair. I tried the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray before using this, and it was absolutely terrible! This product is better by far!
