I thought about getting a different compact mirror, but I saw this one on sale at Sephora and it's adorable! The crystals seem well set and I haven't lost any. The clasp works well and it's a nice size mirror. It's really cute!

Quick Take: great gift item, nice idea reasonably priced
It was difficult choosing between Sephora's two new crystal encrusted compacts. I was trying to choose one for a young women who's going off to school to become an aesthetician. I'm filling up a hanging travel case for her, with some of her favorite cosmetics and other things she might like to have, or need, in the dorm (including the items from the ms. & mrs. Minimergency Kit for Her). Both the Lips and Lipstick compacts contain a regular and magnified mirror. The Lip case is encrusted with sexy red lips on the top, while the Lipstick compact features a lipstick in tube, along with some crystal stripes. The lipstick color (on the outside case), along with the blacks and shimmery crystals seemed more appropriate for this gift since this woman will be heavily involved with makeup and beauty treatments in her choice of careers. Since I initially couldn't decided which to give, and since both are cute and impressive, I'm giving the Lipstick compact to someone else who we always tease about her habit of kissing just about everyone, including people she barely knows. Both are very impressive and will make great gifts.
