Gets the job done!
-03.03.13
Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, non-sticky
This is a quality product. I straightened my hair for the first time in almost a year and I wanted a quality heat protectant. A bit pricey for my taste (due to the amount of product), but after reading so many good reviews, I bought it. Very happy about this decision. Nice consistency, light smell, light weight, and adds a nice shine. My hair looked great after the flat iron and frizzing was minimal.
I am a natural chica, with waist length hair - 3c and 4b coily texture. I take very good care of my hair, deep conditioning every week, and sticking with natural products, and co-washing. I think this level of care determines how well my hair holds up after a flat iron. So, I am happy with the product. However, we must be realistic...it is all about how we treat/care for our hair. I do not believe there is a miracle product that will give you fabulous shine and protection if the hair is not receiving regular love and nourishment.
I was so happy with this product, I am considering trying the Macadamia Finishing Shine Mist. Thanks, Carols Daughter *_*

Huge fail
-02.17.13
Quick Take: greasy, ineffective
I was so eager to try this product after reading all the positive reviews and thought it had to be great since no one ever has it in stock! I regret going out of my way to purchase this product elsewhere. No matter which way I tried it - using very sparingly or adding a little more before blow drying, I ended up with an incredible mass of static filled, flyaway hair and and a bunch of knots, which I never usually get with most products.
In some spots it looked like I poured grease on my head, and a few hours later, one of those spots itched so much I was sure I was having a reaction from it.
This product was just plain awful for my hair type - extremely dry, coarse, thick and aging. Did nothing for the dryess at all. In fact it went straight from dry to greasy as I tried to increase the amount. I did not cocktail this with any other product as I always try to see how the product performs on its own. Even after two shampoos with an anti-residue product I could still feel the grease slick in my hair.
Bottom line - avoid, especially if you have fine or greasy hair to begin with, or coarse unmanageable hair like mine as you may also experience the knots and the static.
I guess I will stick with Alterna thermal protection which I find vastly superior - it is a fantastic detangler and heat protectant that never makes hair looks greasy no matter how much you apply. I also noticed my hair felt burning hot to the touch when blow drying, and with the Alterna heat protection that never happens. This product was my first from Carol's Daughter, and I'm afraid after this experience it will be my last.

Silicone free at last!

I've been searching for a natural de-frizzer and heat protectant for some time. Love it! I will say it's hard to get it all through your hair without risking using too much and getting a product-head.

Smells great, but...
-12.24.12
The product smells great and does reduce frizz, but I didn't notice any protection against the heat. I'm looking for a nice product that doesn't fry my hair with my flat iron!

This stuff is excellent! I currently have medium-length, very dry hair with a lot of split ends. I used to never be able to run my fingers through my hair after it's dried because there would be so many knots in it. But ever since I started using this serum (just two pumps into damp hair), my hair has been silky smooth! Literally! And I don't even use heat on my hair. This product is truly multi-purpose!

Not greasy at all
-11.20.12
I have thick hair that tends to have fly-a-ways and Carol's Daughter's Mac Heat Protection Serum keeps them at bay. I didn't notice any greasiness, although I don't use it every day, just days when I want a smooth finish. I find that it will last for 2 days if I don't wash my hair in between (I do wet my hair and re-blow dry). I would recommend this and have purchased another bottle to have a spare on hand. It is expensive though and that's the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.

Little goes a long way, but works great!
-10.26.12
Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, non-sticky
I was a little skeptical when I tried this and have been looking for a replacement product for Biosilk for my wavy hair. Usually, when I try to go straight I either end up looking like I have straw or it looks greasy. With this product (Carol's Daughter Mac Heat Protection Serum) it looks like I just got a blow-out at the salon. I actually used double the amount (I have mid-length hair) and can't believe the difference. The smell is very mild as well so I don't feel as thought I have a lot of "floofy" smelling product on my hair. I just ordered another one in case they decide to discontinue it. I'd say well worth the money. You should also know that my hair tends to be dry now that I've gone from brunette to blonde and now to red so the results may be different if your situation is different. Be sure to avoid the roots, I only used this on the ends.

I have relaxed hair and use this as a finishing touch after I flat iron my hair. It is awesome! It is not greasy and a little goes a LONG way. It makes my hair manageable, easy to comb, and no breakage. I am hooked!

yay!
-07.15.12
Quick Take: easy to use
I love this product! It smells good and is easy to use. I would be careful of putting the serum near your roots though because it tends to make your hair oily. The price isn't bad and even though it doesn't do much for fizzy hair, it does magic in protecting my hair from heat.

Great for the ends of my hair
-07.02.12
Quick Take: easy to use
I have fine, thin, long blonde hair. The ends of my hair can be pretty dry and brittle. espcially if I blow dry my hair often. I pump this once or twice in my hands and run through the ends of my hair before I blow dry and afterwards the ends feel so soft and smooth, without damage from the hair dryer and heat.
I don't think I would use this near the roots of my hair or all over because my hair tends to get oily, but this product is great for protection against the heat. This works great it both the winter and summer.

Great for frizz
-05.21.12
Quick Take: lightweight, non-sticky
I have long, thick, coarse, wavy hair. On it's own Hair Bands in the 80's would be jealous of my volume. this produce calms that down. Just two pumps makes it manageable and dramatically less poofy. It smell is quite light and goes away quickly.

I got this hair serum to assist new in straightening my hair. I'm transitioning back to natural from relaxed hair and this is a great product. Not heavy or greasy at all, and the scent is wonderful.

one squirt of this product is enough for my medium length hair. Whether I blow dry or air dry my hair is much less frizzy. The true test will come when the summer, humid weather arrives, but I do have confidence this product will preform for me.

I am so glad Carol's Daughter came out with this product. The moment I pur the serum in my hand, I knew it would work.None of their other products work for blow drying and flat ironing. Not sure how effective it is against frizz yet, but, it definitely leaves my hair shiny and well protected from heat.
