PAPERSELF Deer & Butterfly Eyelashes

What it is:A set of faux lashes made from a paper-cut pattern. What it does:Like jewelry for the eyes, PAPERSELF eyelashes are designed with intricate patterns inspired by the art of Chinese paper-cutting. Eyelashes blend an element of traditional culture with contemporary design. Each design has a symbolic meaning: Deer & Butterfly (free, beautiful, and sensitive), Peacock (auspicious and lucky days), Peach Blossoms (love is coming), and Under the Sea (secret treasure). The lashes can be cut and combined in various ways for different occasions. Accentuate the corners of your eyes with the smaller lashes for a subtle daytime look, or make a statement with the full lashes for a special occasion. PAPERSELF's innovative lashes have created a whole new concept of eyelashes in the market. What else you need to know: The big lashes can be used as full lashes for a bright party look; they can also be cut into small pieces to use for the corner of the eyes as daily accessories.

Perfect costume lashes!
-02.25.13
Quick Take: decorative, dramatic
Bought these for my Effie Trinket costume this Halloween after seeing them online. They were perfect, I received so many compliments on them! Definitely a one use item unless you are able to salvage them. I did not need to cut them to size but did cut them to contour them easier. Make sure to not put too much glue on them, that's true with all lashes but esp with these paper ones, I had a brush on glue which really helped.

Amazing ONE USE item
-02.07.13
Quick Take: delicate, intricate, beautiful, disposable
These lashes are amazing, albeit EXTREMELY avant garde/disposable...I knew they were paper though and I didn't expect them to last longer than one use. They are LITERALLY the feel/wear life of construction paper. If you were really good with some craft scissors, you could pop some of these out fast and sell them for cheaper...lol. Worth it for a special occasion and not much else....unless you're a rock star or a fashion exec or something. Butterflies are HUGE and beautiful. Deer is difficult to discern.
5/5 stars. look beautiful, apply the same as multiwear lashes.

Kind of a let down
-12.13.12
I had such high hopes for these! They're so long, I had to cut them to fit my eye and lost either a whole butterfly or a whole deer. they were pretty heavy and distracting, and just a little much. I work at a bar and wore them to work one day and one of my coworkers thought my mascara had clumped up really bad. I ended up just taking them off in the bathroom. I'm going to try them again for a holiday party if they hold up.

Stunningly beautiful, easy and fun to wear
-11.03.12
Quick Take: decorative, dramatic
I picked these up on a whim because they were so pretty, and ended up wearing them for a festive event.
This was my first time ever using false lashes, and I found them super easy to trim to size and apply. They were very comfortable to wear - I couldn't even feel them!
The lashes lasted beautifully through a long and active evening, and I got tons of compliments.
Overall very impressed and pleased with this product, and I'm looking forward to having a chance to wear them again.

Compliments are Guaranteed
-10.25.12
Quick Take: decorative, dramatic, natural looking
A ton of fun! I have used a single box of these 4 times across the year.
1: Full top and bottom lashes ('Butterfly End') for a stunning dramatic effect.
2: Only top lashes for a less dramatic but still gorgeous and unique look.
3: Just 'Deer End' on top and 'Butterfly End' on bottom for a fluttery and lovely look.
4: 'Deer End' for top lash of one eye and 'Butterfly End' for top lash of other eye for a subtle stunning look.
Any colorful shadow look can complete it (deep blues, purples, or pinks). In fact, highly recommended. The lashes are pretty sturdy for being 'paper' and the deep black finish is really flattering and natural looking.
Can even withstand 12 hours of crazy dancing and sweating.
To easily remove: douse your cotton swab with GOOD eye makeup remover, hold it against lashes for a couple of seconds moving from one side to another, peels off easily.

Do you REALLY need these?
-10.09.12
Yup. you do.
They are "ten dollar beautiful"- even if they are only One time use. Its awesome (hence only four stars)
I hardly buy any cosmetics without reading reviews; I was worried about all these negative reviews but then the prices dropped and I bought three sets! (Peach blossoms, peacocks, under the sea) worth it! Even if its just a novelty item. Try clipping them in two and just apply to ends- less dramatic look and also makes them stretch longer!

Looks amazing!
-05.25.12
Quick Take: beautiful, delicate
I got these since they were on sale and i had a formal dance at my school, and they looked really amazing. So they arrived and i was right! They are really really gorgeous, and superdelicate. I was nervous about ripping them, but if you use tweezers to put them on, it's easy. THey are really big, but if you trim them down with scissors they look absolutely amazing. Count on tons of compliments!

Exquisitely Royal
-03.22.12
Of all the Paperself lashes, these were my least favorite at first. I didn't think there was anything special about having butterflies but after I put them on.....I FELL IN LOVE!! They are pretty!! The deer antlers remind me of just chunky normal lashes, so the only thing that stood out were the tiny butterflies. You could wear these alone, or with added natural lashes like Ardell's.
I made a video, its not in English though...so I'm sorry about that upfront. In the video I open the box that the lashes come in, and apply them to my lashes.
I would order these more if they go on sale. At $9 they are still pretty expensive. You can't really wear these more than 3-4 times at best if you're really careful. I haven't ripped them while taking them off...even though I was scared since they feel really light and delicate.
Oh to make them last longer, try not to apply too much glue since it does affect the integrity of the paper. I also take my time to try to pull glue off of them after I wear them.
Overall, these are very pretty and if you want to stand out, I think these will do the job :)

LOVE these-SO craxy
-03.12.12
Quick Take: fantastic, innovative, not a traditional eyelash
I cut these apart and use the on the end of my lashes on special events. It's interesting just how many people look at your eyes!
LOVE THEM - not gonna spend $50-100 for the LV or Chanel, but still going to be fun for summer garden parties ( I bought a few sets)

I really like these lashes...I wore them for Jump Back Ball in Cleveland Playhouse Square. People asked me where I got them and told them Sephora and now everyone wants them. I am the one with the multi-colored hair.

So unique but so expensive!
-02.14.12
Quick Take: expensive, unique
These are so unique and I get complements every time I wear them. They're meant to be worn once but I can usually wear them twice. I buy the full lashes so I can use them as a full set or cut them and use them as accents. I just wish they weren't so expensive!

not your daily ordinary look
-01.29.12
I liked these paper eye lashes and thought they were fun. I feel the only times you can wear these lashes out is if you're going to a costume party or something. I tried to tone down my makeup and let my eyes take center stage, but the look was still too over done.

Butterfly Kisses
-01.23.12
Quick Take: innovative, whimsical, magic
These eyelashes are amazing. I was really pleased at the dramatic effect they provided to my spring queen outfit/costume. Since they are black people do not notice them immediately which is nice. Once they talk to you for a second you notice the joy spread over their face when they notice the tiny little butterflies fluttering around your peepers. If you don't want to trim them we just drew my eyeliner out into a dramatic cat eye and clued the lashes along that. I was able to take them off in one piece but I am not sure how well they will reapply. Even if they didn't come off in one piece I will certainly buy these again.

Fun and Light
-01.22.12
I really had fun playing with these. You could cut them anywhere and then layer them back together. Also, I hate false lashes, but these didn't feel nearly as cumbersome. Plus, I felt like the sale made these a great purchase.

Dramatic, Elegant, and Astonishingly Beautiful
-01.12.12
I'm not a big user of falsies, but these really caught my eye with their artsy touches. I didn't wear them on my full lashes, but instead cut the full deer and butterfly off the side of each and applied them to the outer corners of my eyes. I have extremely large, almond shaped eyes and the remainder of the lashes pretty much could have covered the entire length of my eyes if I wanted to go for a full look later. I got endless comments at a New Years party, and I had to admit, I thought they looked pretty fabulous too. At a glance, $20 may seem a bit steep for a one-time use, but they're extremely easy to take right off and use them again in perfect condition. I used the DUO lash glue, which kept them on all night long but gave easily when I pulled them off before ed. They lasted for hours of smiling and laughter, as well as a little bit of sweating, and still look brand new. My advice to to save the box after you first apply them so you can store them after, as I've heard they can warp over time if stored somewhere else. They seem extremely fragile, but as a novice false lash user I found it was no sweat to put them on, so newbies and old pros alike will find them easy to apply. Extremely satisfied, well worth the money!
