ELLIS FAAS Milky Lips

What it is: A highly-pigmented liquid lipstick with a built-in brush-tip applicator. What it does: The light texture of this highly pigmented, covering lipstick gives great definition to your lips, both as a fully covering shade, but also as a mere stain. Especially loved by women who do not like the feel of lipstick on their lips, all shades are "human colors," meaning that they're inspired by the colors that by nature already exist in the human body and are therefore suitable for all skintones. What it is formulated WITHOUT:- ParabensWhat else you need to know: This product is unscented and unflavored.

Heavenly
-03.05.13
Quick Take: long wearing, creamy, moisturizing
This is one of the best lipstick concepts I have ever tried! I chose this in the bronzed orange color #204 and I just love it. I get complimented on this lipstick everywhere I go. It is creamy and moisturizing, without feeling sticky like a gloss. It is also highly pigmented and long lasting. The lip brush is a wonderful plus, and one of the main reasons that I love this lippy. The only negative thing is the clicking noise that the pen makes upon first use. Also, not every Sephora store in NYC carries it yet.

Love it
-02.04.13
I love this lipstick. I have it in L202 and it is a warm, dark red. It is a softer finish than most of my other lipsticks and it fades to a nice stain. I'd give it 5 stars if it was a little less expensive.

More than gloss, less than lipstick
-12.29.12
I got this because I'm not a lipstick wearer, but aspire to be all of you women with deliciously pouty lips! I figured a product like this would help me on my journey. I like it. I wear it alone or just with a lip liner, not often over another color. It honestly wears like a nice lip gloss or creamy lip balm so I hardly notice I'm wearing it. Quick and easy application. It's on the pricier end, but worked great for me.
I can also co-sign on the colors. I'm an african american woman, brown complexion with golden yellow undertones and spent nearly an hour playing with the colors in the store. All were flattering so it was hard to decide which one was 'the one'.

Super Natural Lips
-12.03.12
Quick Take: natural, great color
It is moisture and the color is just great. It melts in you own lip color yet magically give a pretty color pay out. This is so far my second one, and I put them on whenver I want a fresh daily look. The color is supper compimental. If it is hard to blend the color with the horizontal stroke using the brush, try some vertical movement, it will do the trick.

L207
-11.30.12
Quick Take: creamy
L207 is my favorite color so far. It's a nude pink color. It's subtle and goes great with my medium skin tone. I want to try more colors later.

Meh
-11.23.12
Literally, meh. I do love the color, but find it not long-wearing, not worth all the hoopla or the price. I think I was excited about it because I first saw it at Liberty London and thought it must be the greatest thing ever, or they wouldn't sell it. So much for that kind of logic

color is excellent, staying power meh
-11.18.12
Quick Take: creamy, moisturizing
I really wanted to LOVE this product, and i really do LOVE the color of 201. However, I found that YSL makes a product that offers a great red for me, just as glossy but that has more staying power and doesnt rub off. I had to return this one :(

pleasantly surprised
-08.25.12
Quick Take: long wearing, creamy, moisturizing, buildable, pigmented, sleek, soft, smooth
I received a press sample of the "burnt orange" and I was very pleasantly surprised by this product. The texture of this lip color is PHENOMENAL. It's smooth, silky, and very moisturizing. The wear is nice and long and the color and be built on. The packaging is not what i'm used to for a liquid lipstick, but it's sleek and easy to use. The application was easy and i could be very precise.
overall what stood out about the product was definitely the texture! it was so moisturizing and felt so light while i was wearing it. the only downside i guess that i could see if i had purchased this, would be the price. you barely get 0.1 oz in this product.

The Milky Lips Live up to the Hype
-05.16.12
Quick Take: long wearing, creamy, stays true to shade
The Milky Lips are very easy to apply and easy to build up if you want darker or richer color. I have 4 shades now and the colors all stay true and don't go orange or fuchsia on me, which is a huge bonus. The lasting power is quite impressive. It's nice not to have to worry about constantly reapplying lipstick — after about 4 hours you lose a bit of the surface glossiness and creaminess, but the lipstick fades to such a beautiful, even stain that your lips won't look bare or splotchy and you could get by just fine like that for a while (but after about 5 hours without reapplying, your lips will start to feel dry and you will need to put on some gloss or balm). My absolute favorite is 203, a rich, rosy wine color with a slightly mauve undertone. I also like the so-called "universally flattering" Ellis Red, 201, which doesn't turn clownish or crayon-red. It is such a true blood-red that when I blotted it and looked at the Kleenex, I thought I must have cut my lip! These may seem bit pricey but I think they are well worth it.

Perfect Perfect Perfect
-05.06.12
Quick Take: long wearing, creamy
I don't know how many shades of red lipstick/gloss I've purchased, But none were just right. They were always a little to orange or blue. This RED shade 201 is absolutely amazing it's a true blood red that just works on anyone. It lasts and last and my favorite creamy lipstick when I need a pop on color. I'm so going to buy more colors so soon.

the color of the product is very natural and nice. even during the super cold and dry winter, this lipstick won't bring you dryness and cause peeling to your lip. it is very moisturized.

nice finish, a bit orange-y
-12.04.11
Quick Take: creamy
the other reviews that mention a bit of an orange tinge are right. but the product feels very nice and silky. combines well with a clear gloss on top, if you want more shine.

Beautiful Color
-11.17.11
Quick Take: creamy
I bought the signature Ellis Red- and it's a beautiful truly "blood red" tone. All of Ellis' colors are based on pigments found in the human body and this red truly looks like blood- it has a brown undertone etc. I normally gravitate towards more blue reds, but this is suprirsingly flattering. The brush is the perfect mixture of stiff and forgiving- great product and I'll be purchasing more colors.

Great Texture, Color Not As Pictured
-11.12.11
Quick Take: not the color you think it is
This lipstick looked like a rose or a wine color online but turned out to be orange-brown - big disappointment. The texture was nice, though.

Pretty good product
-11.03.11
Quick Take: creamy, long wearing
I have 3 lipsticks now - 2 Milky and 1 Creamy. I really like the consistency, it allows me to easily fill in my lips to the edges. I prefer the Milky applicator because it is just like using a lip brush. The Creamy applicator is wider and I find that the product can become a little harder to manage - either way there is some getting used to the applicators.
The staying power is good. My lips appear fuller when the product is applied.
The colors are lovely. I recommend checking out Ellis Faas' website, which has truer images of the colors than Sephora. I picked my colors out there and then shopped here. It seems the colors turn a little orange on my lips, but perhaps that is my own lip chemistry. I returned a fourth color that seemed much more orange than either EF or Seph websites.

L202 not as pictured
-10.03.11
Quick Take: moisturizing, long wearing, creamy, easy to apply
Overall I like this product for its ease of precise application, its texture and its feel. However, I strongly disagree that the colors work with all skin tones. The L202 (which is a lot more marroon or burgundy than it appears on the screen) looks bad on me. It makes me look tired and accentuates any redness in my skin. I would love to buy it in a more flattering shade, but I am weary of doing it via mailorder. The swatches on this website look different from those on the manufacturer's site. The L202 is depicted accuarately there.
