Tried the caramel color in my long curly hair and it didnt go so well... lots of tangles!! So next i tried straightening it first - the highlights weighed it down flat...
Still this gets 4 stars because i gave it to my mom who has very short hair and it looks AMAZING! not only the color works well (she also has dark brown hair) but it holds the hair in place like a gel so the style lasts all day...

Worst Sephora purchase ever?

Quick Take: messy, overpriced
If you're thinking about buying this, I suggest hitting up the drugstore for some hot pink Halloween spray color instead. It looks more or less the same, and it costs about 90% less. Oh, and it won't leave your bathroom looking like a murder scene.
Seriously, though, this is nothing but shimmery foam that sits on top of your hair and never seems to penetrate or even dry enough to stop transferring every time you touch your hair. To make things worse, the applicator is flimsy and hard to use. I pressed the button once and it got stuck. I had to yank the top off of it to get the foam to stop spewing out and by the time I did, my sink, floor, and hands were a hopeless mess and the bottle was nearly empty.
And did I mention that it made my hair pink? Because it definitely made my hair pink.
Luckily my cats came to help me clean it up. Hooray! Now I have pink cats.

awesome alternative to coloring

i have natural auburn hair, so it's not a huge difference on me... it just gives me an extra rich red cast on my hair... i love it! perfect for events where i know pictures will be taken!
i tried this first in stores and ended up with a HUGE amount of mousse sitting on my hair before the sales agent gasped and told me i had too much product. it got all over my hands, etc. but if you FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, it really is easy to use. i've even used a (new) toothbrush to comb in the highlights to make them softer and to get closer to the root... but the comb attachment works fine for me (i have LONG, THICK hair). i really appreciate the trial sized shampoo/conditioner... because i travel A LOT, and i felt i got a little extra bang for my buck.

I loved this product. I thought it was easy to use and the color was great. I bought the red one to enhance my auburn hair and it did.
I did think it made my hair feel dry, but I thought it added body. And because I have thin limp hair, I thought this was an advantage.
Will buy again.

I have really wanted to try this but didnt want to order it without trying it first. The Sephora in JCPenney doesn't carry it so I waited til I could get to an actual Sephora store. I couldn't figure out how to work it to begin with but the salesgirl was able to do it easily. The trigger is fussy for sure and when it comes out, its a mousse. She showed me how to use it...Do NOT use the brust it comes with, that's how you get the clumps and stickiness. Pinch a little between your fingers and starting at the root, cover a narrow strand one at a time whereever you'd normally put highlights. Its GORGEOUS. When I got home I got adventurous and glopped too much on and that's when it looked like I was impersonating a disco ball, so just be sparing in where and how much you use. I bought both the caramel and red and its very cool to alternate strands of the colors. My hair is light brown and the end result looked better than anything I'd pay for in a salon.

I have very dark hair and I got this is the caramel shade. I absolutely love this stuff. It was easy to use, I got to place the highlights exactly where I wanted them, and the caramel shade is just perfect! I actually like the end result of using this product much better than when I've had my hair done in a salon. When I've tried to get caramel highlights in a salon, I either end up with orange hair or platinum hair - neither of which has been flattering on me. This is a true caramel shade so I love it. I'd keep buying this stuff for sure, I don't understand the negative reviews but I certainly hope Alterna doesn't stop making the product because of them. It also smells good! Didn't leave my hair sticky or dry either. I'd like to try the red too sometime.

This product is a great concept however, the color was all wrong. I have dark brown hair and bought the caramel color. The color came out more like gold glitter. It was awful. This was so easy to use and apply if the color was only more natural looking, it would be perfect. I would buy this again if they changed the colors being offered.

I like the streaks it adds to my hair, I think I will buy another color. My trouble was pushing the trigger to release the mousse, I had to really press HARD. This could use a little perfecting, but it is fun and adds demensions of color without being permanent or messy like a liquid.I didn't have a problem with flakes or crispy dry hair. I kept running it through my hair over N over in several directions. Coming from underneath and on top. Maybe their's a secret to it and the makers need to make a video to help us.

I tried it in store with a salesperson and I was really impressed with the tester but whe I got my own home, the top didn't stay on correctly and the foam went everywhere, it was a huge mess. It didn't go on very easily and didn't look very good

I purchased this product with the expectation to get temporary highlights as stated on the package. Instead I got glitter streaks in my hair. No professional looking at all! Who wants glitter in their hair? Not me!

This product did exactly what it said it would: colored my daughter's hair without being permanent. It looked great and washed out, no problem. It is easy to apply and easy to clean up. The only problem with it is, it did rub off a little on her pillowcase. However, it also washed out of the pillowcase easily. I gave it 4 stars because of the ruboff on the pillowcase.

Quick Take: easy to usefun and fast
you can get highlights in a can. just shake, squeeze out color foam and brush onto your hair. it shampoos out completely in one shampoo. i have very dark hair and got the sweet caramel--it was golden,shimmery,and metallic. i wanted to exchange it for the red but my teenager uses it. still want to try the red.

I like this. I have tried this in store and in love already. it's temporary. So if I made a mistake, I can wash it out. The down side is that I slept on it. Color got on all over my pillow case. it's very easy to use. Although it's a bit expensive, if I can use for about 20 times, I am fine.

Quick Take: brilliant
Have to admit I was hesitant, but the easy applicator/application made my temporary hair color makeover a breeze! I can't wait to try a new color next time!
And BTW - the Luminous Shine Shampoo is to die for...so happy I took the plunge!
