I was in the market for a new eyebrow product and am very conscious about only purchasing cruelty-free/paraben-free cosmetics. Intrigued by Josie Maran's line, I gave this brow marker a shot. Although the marker felt like it was "working," it hardly applied any product onto my brows. I didn't see any change in color or shape in my brows--it was as if I was merely applying water (for reference, I have sparse black-haired brows). The marker tip also felt flimsy upon application. Not good for control and defining brows. The powder side seemed to apply well. Maybe I got a dud product, but I returned this product anyway.

Quick Take: long lasting, natural, practice practice practice!
This is an excellent eyebrow enhancer, but you must have a steady hand & really know what you're doing to use it. I don't have a problem w/it, but I can understand if other people find it a bit hard to use. I like it because it's on par w/a truly professional brow liner & filler.

this was awful when it was used no matter even when using light feathery strokes. I looked like I was applying tar. it was hideous; the powder could not get it to work

Quick Take: water resistant, long lasting, awesome
What I love most about this product is the marker side. When you actually need to draw or fill in some of your eyebrows, this marker is great because it is fine tipped. I could actually create individual brow hairs if I wanted - the marker is that fine. I have a scar going through one of my eyebrows that I've had since I was 3 years old (this was before they made padded corners for coffee tables) plus I have hypothyroidism (due to my panhypopituitarism, but I digress) which caused the last quarter of my eyebrows to go bye bye (alas, no Elizabeth Taylor brows for me). Anyways, this has really helped me create more realistic looking eyebrows
If I want even darker eyebrows or want to blend them, the powder side is nice. At one point, I thought the powder had ran out quickly (I remember thinking "CHEAP!"), but it was just really packed in. I just took a sharp thin tool (like the end of a paper clip) & broke up some of the powder in the cap and then we were good to go again.
The biggest problem I have is that one side (the marker) is a pull off cap and the other side (the powder) is a screw off. Now, I get the reasoning behind this and I know I am just being stupid & whining, but every day when I am going at it (my makeup, that is), I end up trying to pull the powder cap off (muscle memory from using the marker side, I reckon) and instead the ENTIRE powder section pops off. You see, the "Josie Maran Magic Brows Argan Brow Marker Plus Argan Brow Powder" is technically 3 sections put together to create one dual-ended magic brow wand. I would bet that kids in Guatemala (or wherever) are snapping eyebrow markers & powder ends into a plastic holders to make these magic wands as we speak. I would just make both ends screw on\off (just for my own piece of mind) & I would super-glue both the marker & powder sections into the wand to keep the whole thing together - unless they are really put together by little Guatemalan children, which in that case, never mind, I don't want them huffing the fumes just so that my eyebrows could look pretty (even though eyebrows are like valences for our eyes and you know how important valences are!).
Boy, I digressed again, didn't I.
SUMMARY: THIS ITEM IS VERY USEFUL FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME WITH QUESTIONABLE EYEBROW STATUS. FOR THOSE WITH FULL BUSHY EYEBROWS (LIKE ELIZABETH TAYLOR OR SALMA HAYEK), IT MIGHT NOT BE WORTH IT.

Quick Take: natural
i really wanted to like this product but it just didnt work for me. ive been searching for the perfect liquid brow pen (i heard the suqqu one is the best but i dont know where to purchase it!) i loved that the color was ashy almost green because i think it looks the most natural, however it was way too dry. nothing came out of the pen! i did like the powder side of it tho

On my long, tiring quest to find the 'near-perfect' Brow pencil I decided to give this one a try, having liked other Jose Maran products. Umm no. Horrible. Absolutely nothing would come out of the pen part. Dry dry dry. Should have sent it back for the price I paid, so that is my fault. Skip this one.

I bought this because I have two little areas that just don't grow hair in my eyebrows, and my usual smashbox powder doesn't always cut it. I found the pencil part works well for the sparse areas, then smashbox for the powder. The Josie Maran powder part of this is way too heavy and dark, looks almost greasy. The best bet is use sparingly on small areas that you need so your brows don't end up looking fake. I'm not sure if I'll get this again or not. Also - practice! Since the pencil is darker than i thought it would be, the first few times using it my brows looked scary until I got the hang of it.

Quick Take: water resistant, long lasting, natural
Searched for awhile for thinning brow solution. THIS IS IT! Pencils were reddish and waxy, highlighting poors or follicles. This is liquid, goes on like a dream, subtle (not dark but you can build the darkenss you want) and the powder fills all and blends nicely. Stays on even in hot weather. Not reddish - a natural taupe/brown. Thank you

ALMOST perfect, but...!

Sadly, the marker portion of this oxidized on me--into a green color!
I was incredibly happy with the initial results I got with this product; the combo produced a lovely, natural look on me. My brows are pretty full, but there are spots where the hairs are sparse, and the "tail" ends of them are lacking. Again, with this product I was able to fill them in beautifully and achieved a very natural look.
However...
After about 3-4 hours, while on campus, I ran into a classmate who gave me a funny look and asked, "Why are your eyebrows green? Is it for some event or statement?" Horrified, I quickly ran into the nearest restroom and, alas, my own eyes verified that portions of my brows were indeed a shade of deep green.
I've since concluded that the marker portion of this nifty duo is to blame. It seems to oxidize bizarrely to something--either my skin's natural oils, my pre-makeup skincare products, my sunscreen, or my Korean BB cream/foundation. I'm not sure which is the culprit, but I'll be darned if I switch anything up about my usual routine (which I'm quite happy with) just so this brow marker can function properly.
Yes, the results I get with this product are natural-looking, quick, and convenient, but I'd rather sacrifice the latter two qualities and return to my old brow routine (or find something else) than change up any other products in my beauty regimen.
All that being said, I do believe that this product is excellent, and it *almost* worked for me, but sadly made me a green-browed freak instead. I encourage others to try testing it out if possible before buying it in order to avoid a problem similar to mine. Sephora's return policy is amazing, though, so even if one doesn't have access to a tester, there's nothing really to lose--and lots to gain if this product works for you!

Quick Take: long lasting, natural
This is the best eyebrow pen I've ever used. I'm very pale and most pencils have looked very red on me even if they say ash or taupe...this one doesn't at all. It lets you build up desired intensity and there isn't ANY red in it so it looks natural. The powder is very dark so be careful but it's not necessary because of the pen side. I just wish they just made the pen.

Im one of the pickiest people in the world when it comes to my eye makeup. This brow pen is by far the most unbelievable product I've tried. Be careful not to overuse and you will find yourself with amazingly natural looking brows. The pen tip allows for light strokes to be applied to fill in sparse areas. It's so great. You will be pleasantly surprised. Soooooo much better than using traditional eyebrow powder.

I like it a lot is because I was going after the natural look, not those obnoxiously defined black eyebrows, even though my hair is really black. For some reason I had not luck before, other products were just too much. I am so glad I got this one. I first was a little confused, didn't know why it was not doing much. But when I realized that I had to dip either ends in the powder (in the cap) before each stroke, I got the needed look. I don't think I would be as satisfied if I used it on its own, because it is hard to get the shapes I like. So I started using it with Anastasia stencils, which I also love. Among these, you can choose petit, medium, full, and many other arches. The powder does last all day until I wash my face at night. Not sure about water resistant part, did not get a chance to swim with it on. But will continue using it in the future. I get the perfect natural look, color, give it the shape I feel like, and no one can ever tell that I am wearing a powder. But when I do wash it off, I realize just how prettier my eye brows look with the powder on. It makes a flawless make-up look complete.

I received a defected product. The marker side is completely dry & can't find fluid anywhere. So disappointed as now I have the hassle of returning & waiting. Was so excited to try with all of the great reviews.

Quick Take: easy to use, natural-looking
I have dark skin and dark hair, but for some reason my eyebrows are very sparse and patchy. When I fill them in with an eyebrow pencil, I look like a clown. Even dying my eyebrows wouldn't work because of the patches. This Josie Maran marker/powder is fantastic, though. The color is very natural on my skin, and I FINALLY have an identifiable shape to my brows :-) I hope they keep this product around for a long time because I'll definitely need it. My only complaint (and a small one, at that) is the powder end of the stick... sometimes it bounces out of the chamber it sits in. And sometimes, I accidentally pull the pen in half when i'm trying to open the powder side. Other than that... it's a lovely product!

I have fairly thick, dark brown brows, and am always looking for ways to make them look yet more muppet-like (seriously - Sam the Eagle is my muse). This works beautifully to fill them in (the pen end) and give them polish and uniformity (the powder). Good staying power, too. It is dark, though - I'd avoid it if you have light-colored, thin or sparse brows.

I love this brow pen! It is so convenient and works really well. The felt tip on it is very precise and flexible, so you can make your brows look very natural and like strokes of hair. The powder is a perfect color to blend and is also on a nice and precise sponge-like application method. My brows stay all day and just look nice and polished and natural. I also like that it's made with natural ingredients! I will be repurchasing this product, I'm very impressed with it. Highly recommended!

Quick Take: easy to use and well packaged
I have been looking for a new eyebrow pencil/powder and happened to see this online. I was skeptical of how it would look because I couldn't find it in stores to try first. I got it hoping for the best and thinking I could return it if it really didn't work out. This totally exceeded my expectations. The marker is great- it fills in the gaps but is really light in doing so. You could use just the marker for a more natural look. The powder sets it all and adds color to enhance your brows. I do have to be careful about not applying too much of the powder so my eyebrows don't look too fake, but the build-able color is great to achieve all sorts of different looks.
I have dark hair and fair skin and this brow marker/powder works great for me. I also love that it comes as a pen instead of a compact which most wax/powders come in and always end up a mess in my make-up bag.
