I have a light skin tone and this color did not look ok at all. i thought maybe if i apply it lightly and blend it out it would be alright but it still looks too harsh

Ever since I have received this product I have never been so satisfied. This is an amazing color. It isn't too bright on my darker skin tone it's almost a burnt cocoa burgundy with some golden shimmer but not an overwhelming shimmer. So perfect. I have a darker complexion with yellow/golden undertones so this really works well with my skin tone. I really could not be happier with it. It really does stay on no matter what. If you're a medium/olive/dark toned woman, you HAVE to purchase this pencil. And at $10? Jump on that deal girl!

Smooth and long wearing

Quick Take: well formulated, long wearing
I really like this product and the price was a steal, however, the color really doesn't work for me. It's too brown for my very fair skin; I thought it was more of a deep berry. It also has a bit of an irridescent sheen to it, I think.That said, it is quite long wearing and goes on smooth. It's not zero transfer, but it does stain the lips nicely and doesn't seem overly drying. I'm hoping to try some of the other shades. Nars makes great products and I'm working with this and some different glosses to try to tone down the brown.

Love how long this lasts but i don't like that it metallic. If your lips are a little dry the metallic makes it look horrible. If it wasn't metallic the color would be pretty. It looks dark but is actually flattering to my skin tone.

Nars lip pencils are wholly fantastic but apparently I didn't read this one well. Toundra is a weird metallic shade. I don't know what I was thinking. Not flattering at all on me.

I was extremely excited to see this lip pencil for $10! The pencil has the expected nars quality. It is smooth, glides on easily, and has great color pay off! The only reason that I gave it 4 stars is because it is a little too brown for me. I will still wear it (it is a good fall/winter color), but I was expecting it to have more red/purple tones to it. It is also extremely metallic, which is an expected trend this fall/winter. So it is definitely worth the $10 if you want to try a nars product, or to get a trendy metallic lip color.

I love this pencil as a lipliner. I would've given it 5 stars but I think it would be drying for some people. I haven't use it as an actual lipgloss but I thinly outline my lips then add thicker lines in the outer corners of my lips, smack them together then add whatever gloss I'm using that day in the center bottom and top and voila, gorgeous. I love this color. Hard to define but it adds some depth to lips. Love it.

Quick Take: long wearing, soft, glides on easily, excellent color payoff
I love the color (a dark mettallic wine) of this pencil it works well with my dark skin. And for $10 its a steal. The color payoff is bold and long lasting. Applying this is a dream as the pencil is soft and doesn't skip and lays down even color. I even like the matte finish of this pencil which I don't find drying as I always use a lipbalm under it. This is my very first Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and it won't be my last if all of them perform like this one.

The color is true to picture, definitely a fall/winter shade. In terms of texture, the pencil is incredibly smooth in its application and certainly has a nice velvety feel. Because it is summer, the color does clash a little with my skin tone, but I expected it would. However, NARS products are excellent and this is definitely an offer that shouldn't be looked over if you enjoy the quality of the brand. I think the shade might be too harsh in some skin tones if applied on its own, but I have tried mixing it with a bit of clear gloss, and the little hint of burgundy sheen looks very nice.

This is very matte lipstick and the feeling is very velvety. It stays on pretty well, my only gripe is that it is a little drying after a while but if you put chapstick on under it, it helps a lot.

Around mothers day I bought one for me, my mom and my aunt. We all have different skin tones, Im a medium to dark skin tone with a orangy tone. My mom is a deep dark smooth complexion and my aunt is like my complexion but a tad lighter. It complimented us all and it glides on so smooth, its shiny because its metallic and its just beautiful.

Quick Take: rich
The color is kind of dark (for the $10 pencil) as others have said, but it looks really nice on and wears even better. The color is richly pigmented and the pencil is softer and feels smooth on the lips.

this color is a winter vixens best freind although it can work this summer trend with gloss what I like is in a pinch you can swipe in or eyes don be scared it is matte .this color is rch cognac or burgundy brown but like i said nonvixens nead not apply . Works best if worn with little eye makeup and natural blush just this and eyeliner

I love NARS lip pencils. Only 4 stars bc of the price. Wears well, but, while it has the added "lip pencil" attribute, it doesn't last longer or anything exceptional. Great colors.
