Quick Take: buildable coverage
So when I first bought this, I absolutely hated it. I have very dry skin, and this foundation looked very cakey and accentuated every flaw and dry patch. Of course I blamed the foundation and threw it in the back of my foundation drawer for like 4 months. Soon after I began to realize pretty much every foundation looked awful on me because of my severely dry skin, and it wasn't the foundations fault at all. I finally got my skin to be more normal, using natural oils such as almond and jojoba. I can now apply most foundations smoothly to my face. So I decided to try this again, I cleansed my face and applied a light layer of almond oil as my moisturizer, since this foundation has oils in it, I figured the almond oil wouldn't mess it up. It applied very smoothly to my skin with a damp beauty blender, when before it did not whatsoever. It looks and feels like a second skin. On me, it now looks somewhat dewy and fresh, instead of matte and dry like before. I am amazed because like 4 months ago I considered this to be one of the worst foundations I've ever tried.
This is definitely not for dry skin, so it should not be advertised as being good for all skin types. IMO, this would work well on normal to oily skin types. The color range is excellent, but this is the first time that the lightest 2 colors of any foundation range have been too light for me, I purchased shade 2, and it kind of makes me look like a corpse, so I have to mix it with another foundation to darken it. First time I've ever had to darken a foundation since I'm sooo pale lol. Next time I will go one shade up.
So glad I didnt return this, it is a gorgeous foundation when used right. If you have very dry, roughly textured skin like I did then I highly suggest you incorporate oils into your skincare routine, your foundations will apply much smoother and you won't have to skip out on wonderful foundations such as this one!

If only I matched my color correctly

Quick Take: buildable coverage
I treated myself when I tried this out. Pretty expensive for the amount you get, but a little does go a long way. I like the satin finish, it doesn't dry out my already dry skin. I managed to get a too-light color, but I mix it with Urban Decay Naked 3.5 and it plays well with others, and that's how I've been wearing it.

Like-hate relationship with it.

Quick Take: sometimes cakey
I'm not sure if I like this product.. Sometimes I like it and other times I look at it and think "oh woah, this looks waaaay too cakey and heavy.. Gotta take it off" but other times it looks ok. I don't love it when I don't hate it. It's just ok.. Kinda pricey so I plan on trying to use it until I kind of enjoy using it.. Hmm not so sure about this product

This foundation did not blend into my skin no matter what I tried. Ended up looking like a mask and sliding off my face.
Maybe its just the humidity here. Definitely not impressed.

Perfect Finish
-06.12.13
Quick Take: buildable coverage, satin finish, natural looking
I really love this foundation! I have combination skin (typical, oily T-zone and normal to dry cheeks) and this is not matte, but not dewy. I would say it has that gorgeous satin finish that just leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and looking healthy. I actually like that there is no SPF in it so it will photograph well. When I wear it out during the day, I just use a primer or moisturizer with SPF. Overall, I would say this is definitely a buy unless you have VERY oily skin. In that case, you would probably be better off with something like Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet.

Too dry
-06.07.13
I will give this 3 stars because the color was spot on. I've always had a hard time finding the perfect color match but color 7 matched my skintone perfectly which is a mixture of pink and yellow undertones. Unfortunately, this foundation is too drying and hard to blend into skin because it dries up so fast. I have very oily skin and this settled on every single pore (pores I didn't even know I had) and line on my face. I can't even imagine how unforgiving this would be on dry skin.

Great color, poor formula
-05.12.13
Quick Take: disappointing
I bought this in shade #2 and it was so close to my near-white complexion I was astonished. I usually go through foundation twice as fast as I need to blend it all over my neck to prevent the dreaded "line." The lightest shade of all companies are too dark for me, except this one. That being said, it looked oily and glossy from the moment I put it on and only got worse throughout the day. It sank into my pores a bit, and pooled on my chin and forehead. I'm not particularly oily; this is normally not a problem for me. My boyfriend, who could care less about make up, even noticed and commented on it. I sent it back, and the search for the holy grail foundation continues.

Fantastic color
-05.02.13
Quick Take: buildable coverage, long wearing
My skin tone is ridiculously difficult to match, but to my absolute delight, the 3.5 shade is perfect. Illamasqua has a great range of colors. However, my skin is combination-oily, and if I don't set my foundation with powder, my skin looks pretty darn greasy in a few hours. However, I think it's a fair trade-off to have foundation that actually matches my skin tone for once.

Way too dry for my skin.
-05.01.13
Quick Take: drying
this foundation is very drying. It enlarged my every pores and flaws. The only thing good about it is the packaging. The bottle is designed to be put upside down so you can use even the last drop of product. It comes with a squeeze nozzle instead of a pump but the product never spill out. The bottle takes effort to squeeze so it gives you a very good control over how much product you want to get out. I was so in love with the packaging, I actually debated whether or not to return it. Well, if only the product itself would work for me.

Wanted to love...
-04.29.13
Quick Take: heavy and sticky
I REALLY wanted to love this foundation, but it just didn't work for me. I found out about this product from watching Pixiwoo. It looks fabulous on their fair skin, but for my olive toned skin (I ordered #12) it made my skin look prickly. I have combo oily t-zone/dry everywhere else type skin. I thought it would be perfect for my skin type since it was said to have a dewy finish (and it definitely does) for my dry cheeks. I tried using a stippling brush, foundation brush, beauty blender and my fingertips to apply. It just seemed to always magnify my pores - and I do not have big pores! I heard that you have to really buff it in to get an air-brushed look. I buffed it until my arm got tired and it still looked terrible. The only thing I did like about it was the color. I don't have have any pink tone in my skin, so it was a perfect neutral for olive skin. I would have kept working with it, but when I thought about the amount of testing I already did, plus the extremely high price, I had to return it. Sigh...too bad.

Quick Take: buildable coverage, long wearing, oil-free
This foundation does go on well with brush or damp sponge. It is buildable and does last for hours. I like the finsihed look which is natural but yet makes the face look perfect too. I have fair sensitive skin with patches of red and this covers beautifully without looking dry.

I was very excited to try this product, as I've read and heard many reviews on it. Might be a good winter foundation but living in LA I just sweat it off- even with a setting powder. If I lived in a different climate I'd definitely try again.

Goes on nicely with a sponge. It stays on for a long time. Covers beautifully. A little bit goes a long way. My skin is pretty dry on my forehead and cheeks, but chin and nose are kind of oily, and it seems to work on all areas. Previously I'd been using Make Up Forever HD Invisible Cover Foundation, but this looks better on my skin.

The container is not ergonomical, hard to squeeze
-03.05.13
I had to return this since the color did not match my skin tone.
I'm an Average Asian. I thought this was too dark, made me look like I was wearing "stage makeup."
Even if the color did match, the bottle is very small, and it's not rectangular shape as showned. It's difficult to squeeze out the foundation. Bad design.

my PERFECT foundation!
-03.02.13
I'm a NC35/37 but those colors have always been a little off for me. I went with 7.5 and it was PERFECT! The match was spectacular. It's medium-full coverage depending how much you want to build it. I like working from section to section, if not, it does tend to dry fairly quickly. For those that say its cakey, you're putting on way too much at a time. It is a dewey finish for those that like matte (such as myself), you will definitely need to set with powder. I have HORRIBLY oily skin so I always have to blot every few hours (no matter which primer, foundation, or mattifying powder I use)... It does transfer a bit but it does not slip and slide all over your face. This foundation feels very light, not heavy like some others that I've tried. I love it so much, I went on illamasqua.com to order the rich & light foundations also! Shipping was super fast! Got it in 8 business days (estimated time of deliver was 15-20)!! It is my new obsession. Illamasqua is amazing!! Oh and before I forget -- you MUST moisturize before applying! If not, it WILL cling onto dry patches. MOISTURIZE MOISTURIZE and MOISTURIZE!

NOT for oily skin
-02.23.13
I bought this in the 4.5 shade since I already own shade 1 which is pure white. I am extremely pale and figured mixing the two shades would give me my perfect match with a yellow undertone (since most pale shades are too pink for my skin). the two colors did not mix well which is odd because they are the same product/formulation. Also, even set with powder the oil came through after a few hours with a vengeance. It's almost like it was helping produce more oil somehow. Oily skin girls....pass on this my dears.

Where have you been all my life??
-02.18.13
I have had a hate-hate relationship with foundations - they've always felt too heavy or else provided no coverage or dried out my skin or added to my wrinkles. I have fallen in love with Illamasqua Skin Base! It feels light, stays put (I buff it in), gives an even finish that is neither matte nor dewey (like natural) and doesn't require powder (for those of us with dry skin who hate the stuff). I have had more compliments on my skin since I started using this product then I ever thought possible - from people 20 years my junior. I wear shade 9 in the winter and 10.5 in the summer (and blend them in between seasons). Truly, I am in love.

Quick Take: shiny
I bought this for my wedding because I didn't want a heavy foundation nor did I want something that might give me a white cast on my face with flash photography.
I like it, BUT I MUST set it or else I will look greasy and shiny a couple hours later and I don't usually have that issue. I'm not sure what it is in it that makes me look like that, but it's nothing powder won't fix.
